Viola
mac users... i need your advice. So I have an old MBP early 2011. I was using it for graphic design until one day it just died. I took it to a shop (not an apple store because it is already out of warranty) and they said it is the video card. it is stuck in the apple logo screen and the logo is pixelated. they said they can't fix it because most of the time, the issue with the video card will just happen again. anybody who experienced the same thing? am i better off getting a new laptop? (ouch!). the mac is still dead. and I'm using an old windows laptop. Quote Link to comment

A bit of unsolicited advice here: The tech's right, the symptoms definitely points to a hardware problem - could be the video card, or worst, a logic board problem na. Akshali, there are methods that you can do to try and fix it temporarily pero just like you were told, they are no guarantees and the issue just might randomly happen again. Magiging problema mo dito isn't just the cost of repair alone but the availability of spare parts for the specific model you have. Just for the trouble alone, I'd say just save up for a new laptop. You can, for the meantime, remove the hard drive from the mac then get yourself a 2.5 enclosure from CDR king tapos use it as external HD na lang, pwede mo pa ma-recover yung files mo. ba_to
check the extent of the damage. kung pede pa gamitin ung MBP through an external monitor. if all fails laman ng HD mo ang importante. Quote Link to comment

I'm saving up for a new laptop now. I'm using an old windows laptop for the meantime. What's a good mac built for heavy usage with big screen? sabi kasi nung sa shop, my mac is not built for the abuse I gave it (i use it 16-20 hours a day). Or i might just need to really go back to windows as that seems like the cheaper option for now. Quote Link to comment
glut_func
Yeah. I'm saving up for a new laptop now. I'm using an old windows laptop for the meantime. It don't matter kung windows or mac ka, if you're gonna use it extensively for graphics design/animation/rendering,etc then saksakan mo ng atleast 6GB RAM tapos high capacity HDD yan kasi resource hog ang mga applications na gagamitin mo. Personally, I'd still stick with a MAC because maganda ang default color calibration nya. For the price of a single MBP right now, you're better off sticking with a standard windows rig muna then just upgrade the parts. With careful and constant maintenance, future proof na yan may sukli ka pa. Quote Link to comment

Edmund Dantes
Mga brader, patulong naman I wan't to have the battery of my macbook air replaced paguwi sana ng pilipinas. Kung di nga lang ako uuwi, dito ko na sana pinagawa, eh ang kaso medyo matatagalan din dito. Problema din ilang araw lang ako dyan. San ba pwede at mabilisan lang? I saw in youtube, na simple lang naman sya. Kaso yun nga kelangan talaga bilhin yun mismong battery. Madali naman pagbukas eh. Me kinokontak ako sa me ortigas, sabi wala daw sila battery at dahil pasko at clogged sa customs, matatagalan din at di nila maguarantee kung kelan ito darating. Minsan pag nakaplug matagal laptop, ayaw bigla mag on. Ever since ina-unplug ko na. "Service Battery" na yun nakalagay sa message kasi. Kaya yun battery life nya sobrang umikli na 1-1 1/2 hours pa lang. Less than 3 years pa lang sya sakin. Hope you guys can help, I appreciate it. Quote Link to comment
