Manny should grant what boxing fans are clamoring for, and that is a match between him and mayweather. This is history at its finest. Without the sport or without its fans, manny would have not be where he is right now. Mga lintI second the motion. 'Di alam ni Manny ang papasukin niya kung tatakbo syang congressman next year. Long ago, people whacked each others face for quick money. That is why it was originally called as prize fighting. Today not much has changed, there are only more refined rules and sanctions. But definitely money is still a primer motivation for any fighter. Its why many people enter the sport in the first place, to escape poverty. Isipin mo na lang, what would drive a person to actually pound his skull as a way of making a living? Sino namang gagong maghahanap ng sakit ng katawan kung puro championship belt lang mapapala mo? Anyway ok na din 145 instead of 147. Manny is a natural lightweight not a welterwieght. If manny beats cotto at 140, then it wont be a credible win because critics will say manny bullied a dehydrated boxer. If Cotto beats manny at 147, it wont be a credible win either, because critics will cotto merely used his size advantage during the fight. Ang talagang perfect match kay manny in terms of size and physique was ricky hatton. Pareho halos sila lapad, tangkad, edad, at di kalayuan ang reach. But if you will base it on skills, meaning power speed accuracy etc., you can say that hands down its a mismatch. Not only is manny becoming the best fighter in the world, people are also now regarding him as the best athlete there is in the game. Siguradong yayaman nanaman lalo si Manny with this fight and a possible match up with mayweather. If Pacquaio-Cotto surpasses the PPV sales of Mayweather-Marquez, then Im sure mayweather will no longer have the bargaining chip to demand a 60-40 split. Mayweather-Pacquaio is going to be really huge, it will be the fight of this decade, and if manny wins undoubtedly he will be the boxer of this decade. Gago si manny kung ipagpapalit nya lahat ng ito para lang sa pulitika. Walang makukuha ang kahit na sino man pag pumasok si manny sa pulitika maliban na lang ang mga lintang nakapaligid sa kanya. Unang una, walang alam sa paggawa ng batas si manny, so papano nya tutulungan mga taga sarangani? He owes it to the sport itself and to the fans who subscribe to PPV and buy the tickets for making him what he is right now. Maybe it's just a temporary break. Whether in politics or showbiz mas nakatali pa rin kase yung popularidad nya sa boxing. When manny beat morales and barrera they said these 2 were already past their primes2.) When manny won a decision against marquez, they said marquez was robbed, even though its manny who was doing the most damage3.) When manny knocked diaz out (who beat morales and had only one defeat that time), they said diaz was not an elite fighter4.) When manny fought de la hoya, they said it was a mismatch and hed be beaten like a dog. But when he knocked de la hoya out, they said manny beat a washed up and dehydrated de la hoya5.) When manny fought hatton, they said hattons aggressiveness and body punching plus the fact that it was hattons division would be too much for him. But when he knocked him out in 2 rounds, they said he was an over rated fighter anyway. Suppose a fight does happen at 147. What then? If Manny Loses, people will say manny was way in over his head fighting a guy bigger than him, that he shoud have sticked in 135. Cotto has good technical skills, but notice that this guy throws a power punch flat footed. So I really dont know if he can really hurt manny. Besides, sa MMA syempre kelangan makakuha ka ng belt para mas maging sellable. So in the end pera pera pa din yan. Isa pa, very young pa lang ang MMA as a sport, at di pa ganun karami ang sikat na fighters dun unlike sa boxing where there are a lot of superstars who get paid 6 or 7 digits per fight. The most one gets sa MMA is 800 thousand dollars. Iba naman sa kaso ni Manny at sa boxing. Manny is already sellable, there are a lot of opportunities for him to make money if he choses an opponent na panonoorin ng tao. He could actually campaign in 140 or 135 to gain and all the belts, and he would not have a problem cleaning those divisions. But at the same time, nobody will want to see those fights happen. Bukod kay hatton, sino pa ba me pangalan sa 140 division? Sino ba sila Juan Urango? Timothy Bradely? Si Amir Khan siguro ayus pa, pero he is no match kay manny.
