shafeeq96
Pacquiao in the driver’s seat of boxing world http://www.gmanews.tv/story/165167/Pacquia...of-boxing-world It seems that Golden Boy Promotions vice-president Eric Gomez is making some noise nowadays. He is acknowledging Pacman as the new boxing era's Oscar De La Hoya. Too bad, Pacman is penciling Cotto as his next opponent which means TOP Rank will be the sole promotional outfit for this match. This leaves Golden Boy Promotions out thats why he is pushing Pacman to fight Mosley or a trilogy with Marquez. :goatee: Quote Link to comment
uaeboy25
5 Reasons Why Manny Pacquiao would beat Miguel Cotto Top Rank Promoter, Bob Arum, has recently stated that he is working on a match up between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto. The terms are not yet agreed upon, but its possible that the fight can happen as early as Nov. 14th. Assuming the fight is made, here are 5 reasons why Pacquiao would be victorious over Cotto. Speed – Its an old boxing adage that “speed kills” and right now no one has more speed than Manny Pacquiao. Its not just that Manny is fast with his hands, but as seen in his match with Oscar De La Hoya, he also has fast feet. Cotto was able to keep up with Shane Mosley’s hands, but doesn’t have the quickest pair of feet in town. He is often caught against the ropes and that would play right into Pacquiao’s speedy hands. Wear and Tear – Cotto took a brutal beating against Antonio Margarito and even though he got by Joshua Clottey, he still showed signs of weariness in the later rounds. That would be a sure fire way to lose against a top conditioned athlete like Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao would apply relentless pressure that Clottey was unable to do to finish the job. Cotto also backed away in the later rounds against Shane Mosley, if he does this against Pac-man its lights out! Chin – Cotto was knocked down several times at 140 pounds and one of the main reasons he moved up was that it gave him more strength to take a punch. If he comes back down to 143 pounds to face Pacquiao, some of that weakness may resurface. Meanwhile Pacquiao hasn’t been stopped in over ten years and has a proven ability to take a punch. Skills – Since Manny’s loss to Eric Morales several years ago, he has improved significantly. He has learned to knock opponents down with either hand whereas before he relied heavily on the straight left hand. Cotto has great skills but has shown vulnerability when faced against a pressure fighter. This lack of ability could be a major factor in the fight. Trainer – many casual boxing fans don’t seem to realize the importance of a good trainer. However it’s the trainer that sets up the game plan and studies the opponent’s flaws for months before the fight takes place. Manny Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, earned his second Trainer Of the Year award for the two perfect game plans against Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton. On the other hand, Miguel Cotto has had much turmoil in his camp and split ways with his long time trainer just before the fight with Joshua Clottey. Will Cotto’s camp be able to put together a strategy like Freddie Roach? The answer is most likely a resounding No. Quote Link to comment

julian69
We are all proud of you, Manny! i was watching ETC channel showing TMZ and surprised to hear pacquiao mentioned about his new house in LA it may not a big deal but it shows that he is becoming a crossover celebrity like odlh(ofcourse not as popular)...known to non boxing fans.. they were belittling his buy but the fact that he was tackled in that show alongside hollywood celebs means he is..., the dude w/ the long hair is trying to emphasize that MP shouldn't be living there because old people live there. He indicated MP is COOL and MP should had bought a house near HOLLYWOOD superstars. (it was more of complementary) A good investment that just got even better. Buying a property at this time and then holding on to it until the turn-around comes makes good sense. The media mileage given to it as a house with a celebrity provenance can only boost its value when the time comes to unload it. It's location which is described as a place "where old people live" means that it can cater to a market that shall be first to afford million-dollar homes at the onset of the turn-around: early 50's folks who'll be cashing in at the early signs of an up-tick of the economy and retire. I think it's a smart move. Edited June 18, 2009 by tom_babauta Quote Link to comment
skitz
Hehehe... thanks for the recap. I really couldn't get what the long-haired dude was saying. Yun pala yun. Old people's place pala yun! Lol! Yeah, but old people with money. Nakuha ko lang comment nya e, Pacman's 2M USD home is no big-deal in that community. Lahat ng kapit bahay nya, ganun din kamahal mga bahay. And that being the people's champ he should be with the people. Quote Link to comment

uaeboy25
sure na rin daw ang pagtakbo ni pacman as a congressman. hindi na sa naglatag ng plataporma, economic free zone ang plano nyang itayo. with this type of thinking mukhang mananalo sya bilang congressman(tongressman sa ibang member ng lower house, but since kung manalo sya hindi nya ninakaw ang pera nya. lets call him congressman). tingnan natin kung magiging mabili sa saranggani ang plan nya na magtayo ng free zone. if ever na malasing manalo sya sana rin magpatayo sya sa saranggani ng sports facility para sa olympians. good plan un para mailayo sa manila ung ibang olympians para makatutok sa ensayo. plus magandang lugar ang saranggani para pag ensayuhan ng atleta. un ay kung mamalasin na manalo si manny. Naku napakasamang balita ito then. Sure he dominated the the undefeated Jorge Solis, but solis was a push over, before pacquiao wala naman nakaalam kung sino ang taong ito, at wala din namang siyang nakalaban na magaling other than pacquiao. IMHO kahit si Rey Bautista kayang kaya itumba si Jorge Solis. Mayweather on the otherhand is an intelligent fighter and a technical boxer, manny will need something more in his arsenal to beat him. And he can't train while he is distracted with many other things. Marami pa naman ibang pagkakataon para maging congressman, and Im sure that majority of the people would rather see him on the ring, than in congress. Pero the opportunity to rewrite history is given to only a few selected people. It would be blasphemy to pass on the opportunity para lang sa maduming mundo ng pulitika. Quote Link to comment
