I saw a post in FB about this photo:

"Here's an old pic of the train to Antipolo (Yes, there was a train!). It passed through Pasig and Marikina ...the tracks are now gone but the allignment is a road now called Daang Bakal.."

Now that's a fun trivia for you..

The train post above was the usual route going to Antipolo for Holy Week pilgrimage or getaway during the pre war era.

(the famous Hinulugang Taktak falls popular for picnics and swimming - no need to go boracay or puerto galera back then)

The floodings in Manila is a century-old problem, wondering why our government hadn't managed to solve this.. Is it poor planning of incompetent city engineers/politicians. or we are just stubborn to help solve the problem of the metro??

..some more we were not INFORMED so we are blaming MMDA instead.. <_<

And here I was thinking that flooding was a relatively modern urban problem. Some things never change.

circa July 1966 after THE BEATLES successful performance at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, they were manhandled at the airport by presidential security guards after "snubbing" the First Lady's invitation to Malacanang. Photo shows John Lennon, Ringo Star, and their manager Brian Epstein. Photo by Juan Villena from The Manila Chronicle.
