physical appearance - i go for altis... the design is better than civc.

riding comfort - i still go for honda... have drive honda, toyota and nissan, and honda's suspension is still the best. toyota's suspension is the worst.

service - their customer service are at par. friendly and accomodating.

spare parts - toyota is the best. cheaper and readily available.

saan po point of comparison nyo aside from the philippines? sa states, i havta admit, mas sikat ang toyota.

anyway, yaan mo na. both of my vehicles right now are mitsubishis..

palubog? really now....how come Honda is among the only ONE OF TWO jap car companies that is purely japanese owned.

unlike your favorite nissan, it needed a takeover from Daimler-Chrysler during the late 90's coz they were already losing money. Having a cool aircon is not the sole basis to consider a car good. But i must admit, women like cars that has good air conditioning and i agree with you that Nissan's Calsonic AC is really good. ;)

With regards to Honda Casas, avoid those owned by the Ayala's, they are really known for bad service, with the exception of Honda Shaw.

As for the suspension, we really can't tell which one is better because it really depends on how we drive the car, if you don't slow down in going thru deep potholes masisira talaga ang suspension mo. But if ywe base the suspension on the type they used

HONDA - Macpherson strut/ double wishbone

TOYOTA - Macpherson strut / Torsion Beam

id pick the double wishbone combo anytime! :D it's less noisy and is less "hard" compared to the macphersons. it is also being used by jaguars, benzes and even FORMULA 1 cars. Macphersons are gaining popularity in modern cars now because it's cheaper as compared to the wishbones.

too bad Honda used used macpherson's for their front suspension in the current civic, but the EK or 96 to 2000 civic used to have double wishbones all the way.

i agree with you & just to add....

service may also depend on whose managing....

*honda shaw are TOPS in after sales service.

*toyota otis also gives good after sales service.

though we differ opinion on physical appearance, i would say that honda has the slight edge coz yung stock rims ng alts parang masyadong maliit for the cars overall appearance. thus making it look like lancer(na parang nakatingala). but altis is more classy & luxurious specially if you dressed it up with 17" mags.

aftermarket parts lamang ang toyota pero sa mga aesthetics nmn eh lamang ang honda dahil parang fad din eh? medyo in ngaun so daming available na "pamporma" parts.

both are very good and sad to say eh medyo "wa say" ang manok kong mitsubishi lancer.

Ahm, I know this is already OT.. I just wanna correct... Chrystler po.. sa Mitsubishi sila nag-invest... RENAULT ang nag-invest sa Nissan. ;)

And I just stated that I liked Nissan kse baka isipin nyong maka-Toyota ako kaya ko nasabi lahat ng negative against Honda ok? I never claimed that it was better. B)

Btw, bad financial standing doesn't equate to less quality cars.. nasa Marketing and Packaging pa rin yan ng product.

Mitsu's MIVEC, Nissan's VTC/VVL, toyota's VVTi, Porsche's Variocam and others only followed after Honda.

huh? look what's happening to mitsu right now, along with their financial crisis comes lots of recalls in their vehicles particularly in japan and other parts of asia.

no money = less R & D = poor quality

size wise, get the altis.

engine wise, get the altis.

fuel efficiency wise, get the altis.

maintenance wise, get the altis.

spare parts availability, altis has more spare parts available (although konti lang ang lamang....the city also has parts available, kaya lang medyo mas mahal kesa sa altis. but since, you are a new car owner, i will still prefer the ease and reasonable price of altis compared to the city...)

in short, get the altis....

While I generally agree with you on most of those points, there is no way an Altis beats a City on fuel efficiency. On a trip from Manila to Laoag and back, the City we were using consumed just past half a tank of gas (20+ liters).

But between the altis and city rid_dick2005 mentioned, the city seems rather expensive even if you consider the low mileage.

I've been driving a honda civic for almost 3 years now....

well, what can i say...:

HOnda,

-the engine has decent power having a 1.6L vtec engine producing 13ohp

-the ergonomics is fine and very roomy.. we've tried loading it up to 7 people and its just enough

-it has a good fuel consumption... it city roads, i runs upto 10km to 10.5km per liter

-it has a sporty and proportionate design

-easy to modify

But;

-the suspension is quite noisy after changing my mags to 17 inch. (must be mags)

-the maintainance is quite expensive. I spent almost 12thousand a year.

Toyota

-it has a cheaper maintenance cost

-nice and quite suspension unlike civic

-cheaper parts

But;

-the engine is weak.... only producing 124hp with its 1.6L although its 1.8L produces 142hp

-its not roomy enough

-try to look at its rear wheel.... it looks too small and very unproportionate to its body

-I don't like the design its too big too look outside
