  1. I am not sure where to place this topic, but this is health related so I thought I'd write it here.

Hopefully there are guys (or hopefully those from the medical field who know) who have had their tonsils removed here. I am bothered with tonsillitis at least 4 times a year and is contemplating about having it removed.

Does anyone know how much would this cost me? Please share. I have heard about laser ablation - an out patient kind of procedure wherein the tonsils would basically get vaporized by laser. INot sure is this procedure already exists here, and for what costs?

Inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

its your first line of defense dont have it removed.

  2. How much do you weigh Jacques? Is it possible you took a small dosage in proportion to your body weight?

How much do you weigh Boy tusok? how much did you take?

180lbs. 5'10" First day i took 1 tab of 8 mg., sec. day 2 tabs. total 16 mg. then i stopped. it might be better to monitor your bp and heart rate bec. people are different.

  3. guys just a little info I've read, I find this too important not to share.

DO NOT DO STRETCHING BEFORE ANY ACTIVITY.

Yep u read right, explanation? The muscle part that is being stretched becomes relaxed, so in a certain exercise involving a combination of muscle parts, it will not be a concerted effort of all the muscles concern and may lead to injuries.

Instead do warmup exercises, those that we do in elementary schools like jumping jacks and rotating our hands arms hips knees ankles..

Correct me if I'm wrong on this but this is what I read in Men's Health.

the first thing i do when i enter the gym is 5 min. cardio and then stretching (10 sec. per muscle group) then i warm up by lifting half the weight that i would normally lift then on to my exercises. am i doing something wrong?

  4. for two days i've been taking ephedrine hcl the results are:

blood pressure before- systolic 130-135, diastolic 80-85, heart rate 58-60

after taking it- systolic 158, distolic 95, heart rate 98

the results are obviously hypertension and elevated heart(tachydardia) and in addition i cant sleep.

and these are the items that i can monitor what about other things that i dont know of, be careful with this stuff.

  5. just a thought on this argument. i've been doing tricep ext. since i went back to the gym last year occasionally doing unilateral tricep ext. about a month ago i changed my routine and started doing dips(bodyweight). last wed. i tried doing the tricep ext. again and found that my strenght has roughly doubled. compound exercises is the way to go!

  6. There is one excercise that strengthens the rotator cuff muscles. I don't know if there's a specific name for this excercise and it's kinda hard to describe it. You can search it on the internet though. "excercise to strengthen rotator cuff muscles" and many links will appear. People with this problem are adviced to abstain from pressing movements such as inclined/flat bench pressing and shoulder presses. Also avoid doing behind the neck military presses and pulldowns as it is proven that these excercise promote rotator cuff tear. I think dips and decline presses would be better pressing alternatives since it place less stress on your rotator cuffs. You might want to explore machine work while rehabilitating. Pull-ups and dips hit your delts inderectly but not as efficient as presses and lateral raises. This may be hard but my advice is that you take a week or 2 off from weight trainning. If you can not follow this, try avoiding upper body excercises first and give it time to recover. Rehabilitate by doing the rotator cuff excercise 2/3 times a week 3 sets per session but avoid pressing excercises still. When you feel that you're ready for pressing sometime soon, you might also want to explore executing presses on its mid range only. Take it slowly and don't hurry to pile on the poundage.

    well written, thanks!

  7. WHat exercises can you do?

i can do pull-ups and dips.

Narrow grip pull ups incorporates the rear deltoid heads to support your bis and lats on this pull movement. Can you be specific what type of injury is this? Has it something do do with your rotator cuff? Do you dislocate your shoulders from time to time? Are you talking about both shoulders? Maybe you might want to consider rehabilitating your shoulder first. Some shoulder injuries entail excercises you must really avoid.

it's tendinitis the same as rotator cuff problem! im currently doing strengthening exercises using rubber tubes w/ very minimal resistance. i've never dislocated my shoulder. actually its my right shoulder even if i use 2.5 lbs. doing shoulder press immediately i feel pain. fortunately i can do pull-ups and dips. i wonder if these two exercises can help me develop my delts. if not, what other exercises can i do?

  8. i cant do shoulder presses bec. of injury. what can i do to develop my delts besides lateral/front raises? i'm currently doing pull-ups with narrow grip and palms facing each other. would this be able to develop my delts? i know its for the lats. thanks
