  1. Hehehe. I don't, Doc! I made dioramas for tanks before and learned a few tips from architects. Of course, I enjoy looking at architectural models and appreciate the techniques they used to build them.

Oh I see. I've tried pushing one of the architectural models and they're very durable. I thought you could give me pointers for my dioramas. :D

  2. Good morning. Is there a way to preserve decals? Madaling matanggal kasi decals ng Acedemy. Thanks

If you mean preserving unused decals, what I do is keep it sandwiched in wax paper then keep it in a ziplock bag.

  3. Question people.. What thinner do u use for Academy paints. Thanks!

As far as I know Academy (the Korean kit company)does not produce it's own line of paints. You might be referring to Academy oil paints and for that I thin it with turpentine or even plain paint thinner.

I'm still searching for the best putty for modelling, one that doesn't dry out for years.

  4. Gudam Civic i'm into scale modelling, my problem is madali matangal or brittle yung work piece after malagyan ng glue, can u help into that, ano klase ba ng glue ginagamit mo?, saan ka bumibili ng scale model, ako airplane and tank ang binubuo ko. thanks in advance

I use Tamiya Extra Thin cement to join polystyrene and super glue for plastic to resin or plastic to photoetch.

Nice clean builds and very nice display!

  6. yeah, but the problem is, they just change address and you wouldn't even know how to find them anymore. For probies, is there a law or something where in I can sue them to leaving the company prematurely (sudden LOA)?

Yes, that really is a problem. If they sign a contract you can sue them in a civil case just for the record, or you can have them blacklisted with the industry.

  7. I did. And I am a regular employee too, having stayed with the company for 1 year and 4 months.

If you signed a contract when you applied for the Quality Analyst position, you might want to check it again to see what is the company policy if you do not pass. If there is no provision regarding separation, then they cannot just let you go as they have to comply with due process first. Normally, separation from service has no corresponding separation pay, unless it is involuntary, like redundancy, retrenchment, retirement, sickness or death etc.

  8. For example, you applied for a Quality Analyst position. You go through the 3 month probationary period, but do not pass.

They should put you back in Operations since 1 1/2 years ka na sa company, but dahil daw walang account na paglalagyan sa iyo (due to your profile "not qualified" for whatever account who's lacking personnel) they end your employment sa company. What they have you sign is a non-confirmation for the qa position, with no mention of the attempt for locating an account for you.

Does that warrant a separation pay???

If you are a regular employee, you can only be terminated for cause. Did you sign a contract when you applied?

    hi everyone,

i have a question regarding employment. i'm a business owner of an IT firm right now, and I have employees that work for me. I have a problem with employees. Usually, these employees are not regular employees. They're still under probationary status. After a few days or a few months or working for me, they suddenly disappear. It's so frustrating on my end since I invested time and money in training them and suddenly they go AWOL. I was wondering what I can do legally in case this happens. Can I sue them or ask them to pay me an amount or something? I just feel that it's unfair that employees can just go AWOL and leave their employers hanging. It's so unprofessional and unfair.

Please advise. Thank you very much!

If you really train them, you might want to sign them to a training contract that has a penalty if they leave prematurely. But you should know that probies have really no incentive to stay if there's nothing in it for them.

  9. Hi Doc!

Where did you get your badger? (hehehe if it were in a different forum, that would have been "beaver")

I'm also considering those side feed airbrushes with small paint cups so we can paint with even 10ml to 15ml of paint.

Beavers would be a more interesting topic. I got mine from National Bookstore. What I like about this is I get to use the hose from my Badger double action and it has no needle (it is an external feed) to clean and disassemble.

  10. mga sirs,

legal advice naman po. I am a manager for a local bank. naprapraning lang po ako. Several years back when I was still a branch supervisor, we require documents to be microfilmed by tellers for backup. Now, several years after, the bank cannot locate those documents and they need it for a court case because the client is denying taking money out from his account. Can I be held liable to pay for the client's claims? We are only required to forward the microfilm for developing and rerun documents that were not fully captured. The thing is, nung nalaman ko na kelangan ireun ulit yung mga docs, pinadala na ng bangko sa client yung mga ito (checks)

    TIA!

Can you be more explicit? If you are talking about cancelled or returned checks for DAUD or DAIF or closed accounts, these are normally returned to the client. However the bank is required to keep records for five years. Now if you followed your bank's policies regarding documentation of account documents, then you don't have to worry as the legal case is the Bank's problem, not yours. What is important for you is that you followed operational procedures.

  11. Hey guys!

What airbrush would you recommend fo painting small amounts of paint that's easy to switch colors and clean? Have a non-model assembly related project that requires quick and easy color change and easy airbrush maintenance.

Speaking of AMS - I'm guilty too! I was only able to finish one kit last year - a Macross Frontier VF-25. Darn kit had soooo many parts, close to 300 yata! Hoping to start and finish its VF-27 counterpart. Aaaaand I still have a shelf full of Star Wars kits to build.

Walked into Roel's shop the other day. Buti na lang they were talking about fishing instead of model assembly at indi na ako napa-bili.

For those kind of jobs I use a Badger 250:

I bought mine for about P800 and I just clean it by spraying thinner through it. I don't talk to Roel anymore, all he wants to talk about is deep sea fishing.

  12. Try this sir:

    M. ENRIQUEZ ART SUPPLY INCORPORATED

1-2/F Robin Theater Building 1541-43 C.M. Recto Avenue Sta. Cruz Manila Metro Manila 1000 Philippines

    Phone: +6327115160

Devoir Commercial cor. of Recto and Quezon Blvd. facing Isetann

You might also want to try Pinoy Exchange, they have a thread there for model kit hobbyists as well as artists. Take a look at this link:

    Pinoy Exchange

  13. Really? Which stall in Megamall are these painters located? The only SM that I know that has Airbrushed T-shirt Painters is in North EDSA, and they use Badgers. I'd like to ask them. Thanks!

I've asked at Lil's and Specialty Toy, but neither one of them have supplies for airbrushes.

Unfortunately I saw it being used at a T-Shirt painting competition in Megamall. Have you tried the art supply stores in Recto, like Enriquez or Devoir?

  14. @Dr_PepPeR

Thanks for the compliment Dr_PepPeR! Actually its a decal that came with the kit. I made this model so many years ago, the reason why the red markings on the tires are withering away.

I know you prefer tanks and heavy artillery when it comes to modeling. Sadly, the only tank that I made was a Tamiya Sherman Geppard that I somehow threw away. It had a wired transmitter that made the tank go forward and back and turn left and right. And the turret rotated with the help of another motor. Damn, wish I could have that beauty back for nostalgia's sake.

I'll try to post some pics of my battleships sometime next year. They somehow survived my earlier penchant of throwing old things out.

Actually I thought that the faded red sidewall was part of your weathering. It's still a nice model anyway. Looking forward to seeing your battleships.

  15. The airbrush was sent to me by my relatives in the U.S. Even my college professor (from whom I learned my scale modeling skills), says that it has been years since anybody has sold the brand locally. But I was still hoping that the air hose was standard, specifically the couplings on the hose.

So if anybody knows where to get replacement hoses, I'd appreciate it.

Another option to try are the airbrush artists here. I've seen Paasche airbrushes being used by Tshirt painters in Megamall.
