Just a question...

I'm really interested in getting myself a bike... I have a feeling it will be more economical than getting myself a car...

Here goes... For transpo purposes... would you use a bike over a car? I live like 15 minutes away from work so it shouldn't be much of a problem... is maintenance expensive? How powerful a bike can a novice start with? Your comments would be fully appreciated...

Have you guys heard of Robert Deaver ? He wrote The Blue Nowhere ... it's on of those "hacker" suspense thrillers... I enjoyed it immensely... any one know any more books/authors like that?
