  1. One can't just go through life running on one's own steam. At certain critical points in our lives, this thing called LUCK also plays a part in our life's eventual success or failure. Now, where does that LUCK come from? Only God knows. (Pun intended.)

  2. Regardless of how and where "we" end up and regardless of how you may feel about me someday, whenever you find yourself looking back to these times, I want you to know that I truly and deeply loved you.

  3. Sumikat noon ang mga gotohan. Masarap pa noon sa Goodah.

    I remember the days when I had regular "dinner dates" with college gfs sa Goodah. :boo: :lol: That was all I could afford then because all my date money came from savings from my daily school allowances. I have to give credit to my ex-gfs for being quite understanding about the whole thing. :thumbsupsmiley:

    Suki ako sa West Avenue and Sucat branches ng Goodah. Pero pag medyo upscale or sosyal ang dinner, sa Goodah branch sa Greenhills and punta namin. :lol:

  4. When after a heated argument that came close to ending "us", I came to the sad realization that a life without her would be truly unbearable. The Past is past. What matters is today and what our tomorrow should be.

    *To the old, concerned lady at the airport: Thanks for your concern, ma'am. I'm quite fine now. :)

  5. I give her all my love,

    That's all I do;

    And if you saw my love,

    You'd love her too;

    I love her.

    She gives me everything,

    And tenderly;

    The kiss my lover brings,

    She brings to me;

    And I love her.

    A love like ours

    Could never die,

    As long as I

    Have you near me.

    Bright are the stars that shine,

    Dark is the sky;

    I know this love of mine,

    Will never die;

    And I love her.

    Bright are the stars that shine,

    Dark is the sky;

    I know this love of mine,

    Will never die;

    And I love her.

  6. Every College graduate in the Philippines is advised to take masters. College graduates in the Philippines is only comparable to undergrad in India. Masters grad in the Philippines is only comparable to College grads in India.

    I strongly disagree with your statement na college graduates in RP are comparable only to undergrad in India. This was too much of a sweeping statement.

    Based on my experience here in the US, it's actually the other way around. As was the case with Wyld, I got full credit for all my courses at DLSU when I applied for a professional certification here. I can't say the same for my Indian friends who tried to go for the same certification. Sa India, 3 years lang ang college. Thus, when these friends of mine tried to apply for the same certification, they were required to go back to college to obtain additional college credits. On the average, they had to study for another year, year and a half to be eligible to apply for professional certification.

  7. Wasn't JAWORSKI and REYNOSO Banned for Life for game fixing? which..was eventually lifted? I remember overhearing my parents to talk about it.

    Meron bang nakakaalam ni details nito? or may nakakaalala?

    Someone please correct me if I'm wrong pero I believe Jaworski and Big Boy Reynoso were initially banned for life for kicking/attacking a referee. I don't think it was for game fixing. The lifetime bans were later overturned in the mid-70s.

  8. Do they provide consultancy for options on what to do with the property? I'm pretty sure the property is not viable for what it is being used for anymore because its net return on value of the property is less than 1% annually so I would need more information on what to do with it. Its a pretty substantial property.

    Depending on the scope of work, they do provide options, along with financial projections under each option.

  9. We have a business which is not doing good and would like to consult with a financial and development consultant. What we have is prime property which could be developed into a subdivision if the technical analysis determines that the current use for which we are devoting the property is not viable anymore. Can anyone give options on what firms provide this service? Thanks.

    Depending on the size of the property, reputable CPA firms such as SGV & Co. provide this service.

  10. These are my fingerprints

    Tiny and small,

    To place in your books

    Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

    They are here to remind you

    The whole year through,

    That you're the best Dad

    And I love you.

  11. Since nauuso na naman ang mga vinyl or plaka, I remembered na astig na turntable then was Technics, matched with Marantz or Fischer amplifiers and JBL speakers. Sikat din noon ang Sansui, Pioneer, Kenwood and bago pa lamang ang Denon. Yamaha was only popular with its musical instruments like organ, guitar, drums, piano and of course, motorcycles.

    Pards, I agree with everything you mentioned. Pioneer ang sound system namin noon with 3-way speakers. :) It was composed of a stereo receiver (with AM/FM radio), a cassette deck, a turntable, and 2 3-way speakers. Didn't have an equalizer though. Bought the whole system from Abenson sa Cubao. Kenwood and Sansui, correct me if I'm wrong, were on the higher end in terms of price and quality. They were pricier than a Pioneer or Technics system. Akai was also a brand that was quite popular pero I don't think it matched well against any of the brands you mentioned.

    As for musical instruments, Yamaha has come a long way. It's now the number 1 in piano sales here in the US.

  12. I'm leaning towards the 2007 Honda Accord EX. I like Honda's powerful and yet fuel-efficient V6 Engine and the car's styling. It's been a long while since I owned a Honda. I am seriously thinking of getting the Accord to replace my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder.

  13. sad to say it does not include the subway rides, but it is valid for 9 days. i just plan to buy 2 unlimited metro card day pass during my stay ($7 each). there's also a unlimited metro card week pass for $24.

    With those unlimited Metro cards, you should be fine then. Enjoy your New York trip. :)

  14. uuhm so you find intelligent women unusual?

    *waits for the carnage*

    *pats self on back and whistles innocently*

    Hahaha... intrigero ka! Hahaha :lol:

    Intelligent and confident women are not unusual. In fact, they're the norm. A number of men tend to have a problem dealing with that.

  15. Anti-Discrimination Laws in Job Hiring - Too many Philippine companies are guilty of discriminatory hiring practices pertaining to race, sex, age, sexual orientation, and religious affiliation. Hiring should be merit-based, i.e., based on a person's credentials.

  16. Do you guys remember the jelly apples that used to be sold at those kiosks around Araneta center in Cubao? with popsicle sticks na nakatusok (as handle) and dipped in a sugary glaze.

    Yes, I do remember those jelly apples and the hotdogs on a stick that were also sold at those kiosks. :thumbsupsmiley: I sure miss those kiosks.

  17. I've always been attracted to very intelligent and confident women. Women who are wise enough who are not afraid to stand up to their man whenever the latter is wrong or headed in the wrong direction. Being supportive does not necessarily mean that they are submissive. As with other human beings, I make mistakes and I appreciate women who are never afraid to speak their mind on an issue or call me out if ever I do something wrong. (As long as she loves me of course and has my best interest at heart. :) )

  18. hello fellow travelers! i would like to ask for some travel advice regarding NYC. will be there for 2 days next month and I want to see as much as possible. any travel tips are highly appreciated! thanks!

    2 days would be pretty short to enjoy the sights. Anyway, see if you could cover all of some of the following in your 2 days in Manhattan:

    1. Empire State Building (go to the top)

    2. Rockefeller Center

    3. Ground Zero (old site of the World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan)

    4. Radio City Music Hall

    5. Broadway

    6. Central Park

    7. Madison Square Garden (Make this the lowest priority when you go to Manhattan.)

    8. Grand Central Terminal train station

    9. Chinatown (Give this a low priority too since it's not really much different from Manila's Chinatown or other Chinatowns for that matter.)

    10. Battery Park (gives you a very good view of the Statue of Liberty; great for picture taking)

    Wear comfortable shoes for you need to prepare yourselves for quite a bit of walking. :)

  19. Ang Tibay or Camara Shoes? Both are gone now

    "Ang Tibay" was the brand of combat boots I used for CAT in high school and CMT in college. Bought it from a military uniforms store near Camp Aguinaldo. True to its brand name, the boots were really durable and of high quality. Used it for 4 years through grass, sand, rocks, mud, water, etc. Buo pa rin when I retired it.

    Sad end to this story was that years later, my dad gave it away to a total stranger without my knowledge and consent. Bad trip. :thumbsdownsmiley:
