  1. HI guys, i am downloading movies on torrent with AVI extension but then when i complete my download it has a "Play with Windows media player" sign and even if i play it in windows media player it still doesn't show the movie. Any advise on how i can watch the movie?

    Note: i have already downloaded a lot of them so i am really disappointed at waiting for a long time just to learn that they can't be watched

    It's either a fake file or you're missing a codec to play it. I usually download the DivX codec and use VLC Player for videos.

  2. My parents (both were seniors already) ate at Tokyo Tokyo SM Manila branch 2 days ago. My dad forgot to bring his I.D. so they used my mom's instead. ordered 2 meals, one 95 pesos other 90 pesos; also ordered their drinks and some maki. total food bill was almost 300 pesos.. Tokyo Tokyo only computed the 20% seniors discount from the more expensive item ordered (the 95 peso meal) instead of the required maximum discountable amount of 250 pesos... sa madaling salita instead of 50 pesos discount nila (50 pesos being 20% of 250 pesos which they are entitled) 20 pesos lang na-discount nila..Also what they did was to print the discounted 95 peso meal on a separate receipt to make it look like that two different customers ordered the 95 pesos meal from the rest of the orders; obviously with malicious intent..Dad was furious and (being a lawyer) filed a complaint in Manila City Hall and DTI..We're awaiting what will happen next week..

    From now on we will boycott Tokyo Tokyo SM Manila Branch..come to think of it, because the branch manager said that its the policy of Tokyo Tokyo in general we will boycott the Tokyo Tokyo food chain..

    Buti pa Jolibee, McDo, KFC, etc...these food chains grant 20% discount up to 250 pesos food bill regardless of number and ages of persons in the receipt so long as one has a valid seniors ID..heck, even Savory Fried Chicken in SM San Lazaro gave the 20% seniors discount discount up to 300 pesos food purchase..

    I agree with you that they should have been gracious enough to discount your father's meal, too, if they wanted you to return to their establishment (and most experienced restaurant managers would probably acquiesce). However, they also had a right not to:

    In the availment of the privileges mentioned above, the senior citizen or elderly person may submit as proof of his/her entitlement thereto any of the following:

    1. an ID issued by the city or municipal mayor or of the barangay captain of the place where the senior citizen or the elderly resides;

    2. the passport of the elderly person or senior citizen concerned; and

    3. other documents that establish that the senior citizen or elderly person is a citizen of the Republic and is at least sixty (60) years of age.

  3. I've always thought that the discount only applies to whatever the senior citizen consumed, not for the entire party. So ganito pala, the discount applies to the total bill. Most of the restaurants (if not all), that I ate at with my mom, they only sort of apply the discount to her. So if there were 3 of us, they would only apply the 20% discount 1/3 of the total amount.

    So under law the senior discount should be applied to the entire amount in the receipt then?

    1. the grant of twenty percent (20%) discount from all establishments relative to the utilization of services in hotels and similar lodging establishment, restaurants and recreation centers, and purchase of medicines in all establishments for the exclusive use or enjoyment of senior citizens, including funeral and burial services for the death of senior citizens;

    No, it only applies to whatever the senior citizens ate.

    Most restaurants have a limit (like 250 pesos) because they expect one senior citizen can consume up to that amount of food per visit and it's easier to program into their POS cash registers.

  4. Speaking of Chowking..... mineral water.

    I ordered one and they brought me a small distilled/filtered water and I paid 22pesos for it.

    Some restaurant menu always says "mineral water" and they only serve you distilled/filtered water,

    and you pay for mineral water price.

    Even in the US, they'll sell you filtered water when you think it's mineral - Poland Spring, a popular bottled "mineral water" is just glorified bottled tap water.

    From Wikipedia:

    Several towns in Maine have objected to the business practices of Poland Spring and its parent company Nestlé. In some towns, such as Fryeburg, Maine, Poland Spring actually buys the water (110 million gallons of water from Fryeburg a year) from another company, the Fryeburg Water Co., and ships it to the Poland Spring bottling plant in Poland Spring. However, Fryeburg Water Co. also sells water to the town of Fryeburg.

    Most fast food chains will only have filtered water and SM malls actually require restaurants to only buy from a certain supplier for bottled water and ice. They also help set the price for the water.

    And no, I don't work for Jollibee or SM.

  5. My wife and I tried to eat at Heaven and Eggs at Market! Market! today. They need to hire better or hire extra waiters/wautresses because they can't handle a small lunch crowd. We left after 10 minutes because no one was even bothering to take our order. As much as we really wanted to try their food, we won't be going back.

  6. One month waiting time for the car plate is the standard nowadays. The case is the same with other brands & even motorcycles.

    For Manila maybe one month is standard - not for Pampanga. My Dad called them and threatened to bring action against them. They called my aunt right after that and gave her the license plate.

  7. I remember the time when McDo was just new in the country, their service crews were all well trained and quite knowlegeable with their jobs and look and act smart. Lately I notice that some service crews appear not to be well trained in their jobs and are lousy looking.

    You're right. I usually go on their drive-throughs. I'm actually surprised whenever they get the whole order right.

    Last year, I ate at the McDo at Clark with a friend. We both ordered combo meals and were told that they would serve us the fries late - they were about to cook them. Well, we finished our meals and still, no fries (and we ate real slow). The damn bastards forgot about us. On our way out we saw the manager-on-duty joking around with most of his crew in front of the cash registers. I asked the SOB if he was the manager. When he said yes, I showed him my receipt and asked him for our fries. We left and they had someone bring it over to our car as we were about to leave. WTF were we going to do with the fries now? We told them to give it to the homeless person in their parking area.

    As much as I dislike the food at Jollibee, they do a much better job training their staff.

  8. according to initial reports, negative si benoit sa prohibited drugs and steroids. purely rage daw ang cause. Well, that's possible, if you're really angry enough, and has a really low temper, pwede nga na magawa nya sa pamilya nya un. And after realizing na patay na family nya, he decided to hang himself because of the overflowing guilt.

    Now they're saying that his son, Daniel was mentally handicapped and that Chris had been arguing with his wife, Nancy, about taking care of him.

    I still can't see how it drove him to killing those closest to him.
