  1. I'm cautiously liking S02E08! No one knows what to expect now - not even the likes of us who read the comics. You have to watch it now and appreciate how the story is unfolding differently. It's good like that. Other than just having us expect what's already in print. Even the narrative style has been tweaked a bit. Perhaps it's how it is with Frank Darabont out of the helm.

    :ninja: :ninja:

  2. And before you know it, Spartacus is back on air! (Sans our dear Andy Whitfield)

Season 3 is back like an old friend, with his old slasher fights, blood (and sand) and gore everywhere, and the world (or Rome, at least) is now their arena!

If anything, episode one of the young, new season promises to be about vengeance on a grander scale and with our protagonist with more chips on his shoulder --watch out for it at the end part of episode one. (SPOILER: No new tits YET!!!)

I would direct you here but the site says the video is no longer available in my country. I know the site says it premiers on the 27th of January yet, but try my eyes it's out! I am sure that your interweb wizardry will lead you to a video of it elsewhere.

For purists, our first Naevia (Crixus' love-interest) Lesley-Ann Brandt has been replaced by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, which makes me wonder if they had to find a girl whose name was hyphenated as well. Slight spoiler, though not unexpected, Naevia does not appear in episode one yet, but early pictures of Cynthia draw towards her eyes, and her face might also lead you to think, "well, she looks like Rosario Dawson, doesn't she?" I liked Lesley-Ann better with her delicate, supple lips and her unassuming yet efficient portrayal of female cunning (sorry if I sound sexist).

I'm watching out for Seppia, though, who is played by Hanna Mangan Lawrence. I'm sure down the road fans are going to see her tits. It not like she had any qualms showing them off playing a hooker in X along side fellow Spartacus alum and bitch-be-damned hottie, Viva Bianca. I'm no sage, but I'm smelling incest between Seppia and Seppius!

Remember, kids, the show is rated TV-MA for the following reasons:

    1. AC - Adult Content

    2. AL - Adult Language

    3. GV - Graphic Violence

    4. SC - Strong Sexual Content

    5. N - Nudity

In case you aren't hooked yet, one of the more striking lines from episode one, Fugitus is:

"You had me at 'whores'." - random gladiator

Here is a foretaste of young, fragile Seppia (can you, too, blow that candle beside her out, if you know what my wink means):

  3. Napanganga ako nung...

    SPOILER ALERT!!

...niratrat nila yung mga zombie na lumalabas sa barn.

I heaved a sigh of relief nung (akala ko) natapos na.

    AND THEN...

    ... Sophia happened!

It's gonna be hard to guess what happens next in the series, especially since it is now really officially safe to say that the latest episode has gone divergent of the comic book series.

    Parallel universes of walkers/geeks! :ninja:

  4. I wonder if they are going anywhere with the new "love connection" that is introduced in the story line. Raised my eyebrows with car suddenly stopping in the middle of the road.

How many days has it been since Sofia got lost? How could she make it "out there" on her own? Unless, I am guessing, they make it turn out that she was found and has been staying with another group of survivors all along. I guess we all have to find out soon.

  5. Ah, finally, after much ado about Sofia, and other things hostile and otherwise, the s02e05 finally follows the turn of the story as in comic book, in quite a dramatic fashion, no less. There were hints it was going to take this turn a couple of episodes ago, but it kept us longing for it. Doesn't it feel, thought, that things have slowed down a bit?

  6. I'm not fond of math but I count Spartacus: Blood and Sand as 1, and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena as 2.

So, here is 3 (at least by my count), debuting January 27:

Starz Orders Another Season of Spartacus

    Nov 7, 2011 05:07 PM ET

    by Robyn Ross

    Liam McIntyre

Spartacus will be back for a third season, Starz announced Monday.

"There is no denying the impact Spartacus has had in the marketplace with fans across the globe thirsting for the continuation of the epic tale," said Carmi Zlotnick, an executive with the premium cable outlet.

Spartacus returns with a Vengeance in January

Last week, the network announced that Season 2 of the series, titled Spartacus: Vengeance, would debut Jan. 27. It marks Liam McIntyre's debut in the title role, replacing Andy Whitfield who died from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

"We are thrilled to come to an early agreement that allows the writers and talent to get right back to work in preparing for season three," Zlotnick added.

A prequel, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, ran early this year.

Are you excited for more Spartacus?

  7. Only If for a Night by Florence + The Machine

    From the album Ceremonials

It was a surprising listening experience for me. My eyes were, like, growing steadily bigger as the song grew awesomer and awesomer.

This song comes highly recommended from me.

    Surreal experience!

Set your sub-woofers free with this one!

    Here's the studio version:

And now, appreciate a live performance, where Florence Welch looks surprisingly hotter than her loony appearance (IMHO) in Dog Days are Over. Careful with this one! You might totally crush on her:

  8. I'm liking season 2, so far. I've read the monthly comics down to the latest and I must say that it's a great job they're doing how there are divergent elements in the TV show while they still maintain the "core" story.

I am wondering how they are going to go about the story line of Sophia (the little girl missing in the woods), and if they are going to k*ll her (if she is not dead yet) soon in the TV series.

So far, between the TV series and the comic books, the TV series (for me) is proving to be less angry and contains lesser mature, sexual themes. I think that is good, too, as the anger and sexual themes work well for the black-and-white illustrated series, which really cement its dark appeal. Overall, there are very minute albeit essential tweaks in the personality of the characters and their development, so far.

Walking Dead fans, I would like to suggest that you guys read the illustrated series, too, as it will prove to add perspective and more depth to your experience with the TV show.

I'm excited to find out how Hershel's statement that, "We aren't completely unscathed. We lost friends, neighbors. The epidemic took my wife, my stepson," is going to unfold in the next episode.

Also, The Walking Dead season 3 is now confirmed! Horray for us!

Breaking Bad fans (like myself) are treated to an easter egg in The Walking Dead S02E02!

Notice the ziplock bag that Daryl identifies as his diseased brother's stash? Among the "medicines" he identifies is meth, which is the blue stuff in the bag! They are very identifiable as they contrast against the other orange pill-bottles inside.

Meth is commonly white, and the meth that Walter White (in Breaking Bad) cooks is blue because he uses a different chemical process to synthesize his product, which, in turn he packs in the same size of ziplock that was also used in Bloodletting episode of The Walking Dead.

Ah, fanboys! We get excited by such easter eggs!

Read about the renewal for The Walking Dead Season 3 and it's record shattering achievement HERE.

  9. I have long wanted to watch How I Met Your Mother, but the daunting task of having to watch plenty of bygone seasons always was the cause for me to put it off.

    And then this comes along:

"Skip: "How I Met Your Mother"

They keep promising it will get better… and it doesn't. How much more emotional abuse can we take from this show?"

    Source.

Now, that just makes me sad.

  10. Andy Whitfield of "Spartacus" dies at 39

(CBS/AP) Andy Whitfield, who played Spartacus in the Starz series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" - in which there is a lot of blood and sand - has died. He was 39.

Whitfield died Sunday in Sydney, Australia, 18 months after he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, manager Sam Maydew told the Associated Press.

"On a beautiful sunny Sydney spring morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his loving wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18 month battle with lymphoma cancer," Whitfield's wife Vashti said in a statement. "He passed peacefully surrounded by love. Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have help carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was."

Andy Whitfield - who was born in Wales and moved to Australia in 1999 - was a virtual unknown when he was cast as the legendary Thracian slave in "Spartacus," a role made famous by Kirk Douglas in the 1960 Stanley Kubrick film.

The series proved a breakout hit for the Starz network and made waves with its graphic violence and sexuality.

Whitfield appeared in all 13 episodes of the first season that aired in 2010, and was preparing to shoot the second when he was diagnosed with cancer.

While waiting for Whitfield's treatment and expected recovery, the network produced a six-part prequel, "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena," that aired earlier this year with only a brief voiceover from the actor.

But in January after Whitfield's condition grew worse, the network announced that another Australian actor, Liam McIntyre, would take over the role.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Andy Whitfield," Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht said in a statement Sunday night. "We were fortunate to have worked with Andy in `Spartacus' and came to know that the man who played a champion on-screen was also a champion in his own life."

Whitfield's previous credits included appearances on the Australian TV shows "Packed to the Rafters" and "McLeod's Daughters."
