  1. As I always say;

If it tastes sweet spit it out.

Sugar is a generic term used to identify simple carbohydrates, which includes monosaccharides such as fructose, glucose and galactose; and disaccharides such as maltose and sucrose (white table sugar). Think of these sugars as different-shaped bricks in a wall.

When fructose is the primary monosaccharide brick in the wall, the glycemic index registers as healthier, since this simple sugar is slowly absorbed in the gut, then converted to glucose in the liver. This makes for "time-release foods," which offer a more gradual rise and fall in blood-glucose levels.

If glucose is the primary monosaccharide brick in the wall, the glycemic index will be higher and less healthy for the individual. As the brick wall is torn apart in digestion, the glucose is pumped across the intestinal wall directly into the bloodstream, rapidly raising blood-glucose levels.

In other words, there is a "window of efficacy" for glucose in the blood: levels too low make one feel lethargic and can create clinical hypoglycemia; levels too high start creating the rippling effect of diabetic health problems

The following is a listing of some of sugar's metabolic consequences from a variety of medical journals and other scientific publications.

  2. For several million years, humans existed on a diet of animals and vegetation.

It was only with the advent of agriculture a mere 10,000 years ago - a fraction of a second in evolutionary time - that humans began ingesting large amounts of sugar and starch in the form of grains (and potatoes) into their diets. Indeed, 99.99% of our genes were formed before the advent of agriculture; in biological terms, our bodies are still those of hunter-gatherers.

While the human shift to agriculture produced indisp*table gains for man - modern civilization is based on this epoch - societies where the transition from a primarily meat/vegetation diet to one high in cereals show a reduced lifespan and stature, increases in infant mortality and infectious disease, and higher nutritional deficiencies.

Contemporary humans have not suddenly evolved mechanisms to incorporate the high carbohydrates from starch- and sugar-rich foods into their diet.

In short, we are consuming far too much bread, cereal, pasta, corn (a grain, not a vegetable), rice, potatoes and Little Debbie snack cakes, with very grave consequences to our health.

Making matters worse, most of these carbohydrates we consume come in the form of processed food

  3. non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen (Aleve), and ketoprofen (Orudis) are the traditional drug solution for arthritis.

Many people that are opposed to drugs will use natural band-aids like glucosamine and chondrotin sulfates.

For degenerative arthritis, or DJD, glucosamine will likely benefit many people who use it.

However, there are more foundational methods that one can employ to help.

The first and most important of these methods is to follow the eating plan.

This will optimize your insulin and omega-3 fats. Both of these factors are core issues that will not only neutralize arthritis pain, but also pain from other degenerative diseases

  4. Daily magnesium supplements can trigger small but significant decreases in blood pressure. This effect is greater in subjects with higher blood pressure. Supplementation with magnesium for 8 weeks significantly lowered blood pressure. Average blood pressure reductions were small, but noteworthy -- about 2.5 mm/Hg lower in the systolic (first number) reading, and 1.4 mm/Hg lower in the diastolic (second number) reading. Magnesium may help lower blood pressure through its ability to increase the diameter of blood vessels

Omega three fats are essential to your health. You can certainly get them from cod liver oil or fish oil.

Please remember that nearly all fish are contaminated with mercury and should ideally be avoided. You will want to identify a clean source of fish oil.

If you already have significant sun exposure then you should not take cod liver oil as you will run the risk of overdosing on vitamin D.

You should then take fish oil capsules. The standard fish oil capsule is 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA. You should take approximately one capsule for every ten pounds of body weight, preferably in two divided doses.

So if you weigh 160 pounds you would take 8 capsules twice a day. If you have problems with belching them up, you will want to consider taking them on an empty stomach.

Cod liver oil has the benefit of providing you with vitamin D and A. A reasonable dose for cod liver oil is one teaspoon for every 30-40 pounds of body weight. If you use cod liver oil during your summer you will need to be careful of vitamin D toxicity and I suggest you review the information on vitamin D testing.

When you take fish oil supplements or cod liver oil in the doses I recommend please be sure and take an one vitamin E 400 unit supplement per day as this will help serve to protect the fat from oxidation. This is less of an issue with the cod liver oil as the vitamin D itself is a very potent anti-oxidant.

You will also need extra amounts of the "fourth and unforgotten" oil soluble vitamin, vitamin K. If you are juicing plenty of green vegetables and taking the cod liver oil or fish oil with the juice you should absorb the vitamin K in the vegetable juice. However, if you have osteoporosis or osteopenia, you will want to consider adding an extra 1000 mcg ( 1 mg ) of vitamin K per day.

Generally our diet contains far to much omega 6 fats. Experts looking at the dietary ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids suggest that in early human history the ratio was about 1:1. Currently most Americans eat a dietary ratio that falls between 20:1 and 50:1. The optimal ratio is most likely closer to the original ratio of 1:1. For most of us this means greatly reducing the omega-6 fatty acids we consume and increasing the amount of omega-3 fatty acids.

Please recognize that we get ALL the omega-6 and omega-9 fat we need from food. We do NOT need to take any supplements for these fats. Many of the omega fat supplements you see in health food stores will only serve to worsen your health, not improve it as they contain omega 6 fats which will worsen your omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.

recommend avoiding sunflower, corn, soy, safflower, canola, or products that contain these oils. That is no hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats, no margarine, no vegetable oil, no shortening. These oils are chock full of omega-6 fats and will only worsen your omega 6:omega 3 ratio.

Acceptable oils will be a high quality extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, avocados, and organic butter, or better yet grass-fed organic butter.

Another way to improve your omega 6:3 ratio is to change the type of meat you are eating. You could consume more game meat like venison, or other game animals that are raised exclusively on grass type foods. However, these are hard to find and generally more expensive than beef.

Since nearly all cattle are grain fed before slaughter, if you eat most traditionally raised beef, it will typically worsen you omega 6:omega 3 ratio.

Normally a good ratio for omega 6:3 in fish is 2 or 3 to 1. The lower the better. Grassfed beef from Grassfed Organics is much higher in Omega 3 than fish, with a 6:3 ratio of 0.16 to 1. This information is from a study done at Iowa State University in August 2001.

To get the necessary Omega-3 fatty acids, you should consider eating meat that is allowed to "free-range", or in the case of cattle, to be grass-fed. Unfortunately, you cannot buy this grass-fed beef at your local grocery store.

You must also be careful as many stores will advertise grass-fed beef but it really isn't. They do this as ALL cattle are grass fed, but the key is what they are fed the months prior to being processed.

Most all cattle are shipped to giant feed lots and fed corn to fatten them up. You will need to call the person who actually grew the beef, NOT the store manager, to find out the truth.

The least expensive way to obtain authentic grass fed beef would be to find a farmer who is growing the beef who you can trust and buy a half a side of beef from him. This way you save the shipping and also receive a reduced rate on the meat.

An inexpensive, yet effective way to determine if the meat is really from a grass fed animal is to purchase the ground beef. Slowly cook the beef till done and drain and collect all the fat. Grass fed beef is very high in omega-3 fats and will be relatively thin compared to traditionally prepared ground beef.

It will also be a liquid at room temperature as it has very few saturated fats which are mostly solid at room temperature.

However, most of us live in large urban areas and do not have the time for this process. Just as it would be ideal to have an organic garden and grow your own vegetables, most of us elect not to do that for time or space reasons.

I used to have an organic garden, but my schedule just would not allow me to have that luxury anymore. So, if you are convinced, like I am, that grass-fed beef is better for you and you would like the convenience of being able to order it over the Net

  5.

    6,8 or 12 cyl?

thats the same feeling i get when riding a classic car...theres something about those carburated engines and basic technology that makes you feel you are one with the car...

Yes; I couldn’t agree more carbureted motors just seem to relate to the soul.

    I too love basic technology

There is nothing better then the feel of a tight rack in the curves

Currently the silver XJ-S is all original with a V 12

The other XJ-S was a V-12; but the V-12 has been removed and put in to storage, and a V-8 was in stalled.

Pm or email me any time you wish to talk about classic cars

    it is my favorite topic.

  6. just want to check whos into classic cars.

    please list your prized possession,

    I’m into classic cars.

    Currently Jaguars like the XKE

I don’t yet own an E but own two xj-s

The kittens are just like pets to me

Have even blown them kisses at night

    Do you like Jaguars?

As for me I like all cars always have just like people they all have a place in the world and do some thing different

My best friend since high school,

Had a Jaguar. The car was white, the interior black leather with creases rubbed into the hide. I'd admired the car for some time, and one day he took me for a ride in it. How to describe it? The shock, the sheer exhilarating breath-less ness of that car overwhelmed me. All the senses reeled under the assault of the Jaguar. Sight of course: oh my lord the look of that car, front wings sleekly stretching back like the arched spine of the jungle cat that was its namesake; the big round headlights opposite the oval grille; and those hips, the curving flanks of the rear fenders where they flow up from the door like the pelvis of a beautiful woman sleeping beside me under a sheet of white silk.

Touch? Yes, naturally; the caress of the Connolly under me, the rough jumping of the suspension on the pavement, the buzz of the motor through the chassis as it through the gears. And sound, sound perhaps the most important part of the synaesthesia, the whine of gears beside my hip and the purr of the motor changing to a deep guttural cry -- a sound that I cannot help but call to mind when I read the old cliché about "the cough of a hunting cat. Some new senses for me opened up in my relationship with cars that day. Smell: hot Castrol on aluminum, Wilton wools, hair-jute padding, the old-book smell of the leather, and a little of the sweet musk of gasoline from under the hood. Once you buy a Jaguar, you find out that it's almost impossible to only be into Jaguars halfway and the fire and ice relationship really begins. Friends and family will stare at you in astonishment, with a look in their eyes that says either "I sure wish I had one of those" or "What an idiot!!!" And you will find yourself going thru these same cycles. When I’m feeling good about my Jag, I think "Wow, this is so cool, I _really_ love having this wonderful car." When I’m feeling bad about it I wonder what the hell I was thinking when I got it.

  7. I take about 3mg of Melatonin- i am about an 165 pound person

a larger person may want to take more.

Melatonin is a hormone that is produced naturally by the body.

The pineal gland in the brain makes serotonin which is then converted into melatonin when exposure to light decreases.

Melatonin can help people fall asleep when the bedtime rhythm has been disturbed.

In studies, people taking melatonin sleep better, take less time to fall asleep, and feel more energetic and awake during the day.

St. John’s Wort – The herb St. John’s wort may help insomnia related to depression.

i take this but not with the Melatonin, do not mix large amounts of herbs together.

    start off with a little.

Valerian – Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) is a herb that has been long used as a remedy for insomnia. As early as second century A.D., valerian was recommended for insomnia.

There are rumors that the name Valium was created to sound like the word valerian. i would never take real Valium, but Valerian is ok i think.

Cut out caffeine – Caffeine consumption can have a pronounced effect on sleep, causing insomnia and restlessness.

In addition to coffee, tea, and soft drinks, look for hidden sources of caffeine such as cough and cold medicine and other over-the-counter medicine and chocolate. side note ,caffeine makes my ears ring.

i only drink a mild green tea

Avoid added sugar – Although sugar can give a burst of energy,

it is short-lived and can cause uneven blood sugar levels.

This can disrupt sleep in the middle of the night as blood sugar levels fall.

Eat tryptophan-rich foods – Tryptophan is an amino acid that is a precursor to serotonin, which is then converted to melatonin. Tryptophan occurs naturally in turkey and other meat, milk, cheese, bananas, pumpkin seeds, and legume

    turky does it for me.

  8. Hyaluronic Acid is. is very nice if you can find some ,it's naturally found in connective tissue, where it serves as an integral part of the extracellular matrix

consuming at least 800 milligrams of calcium a day will retard the loss of bone,

Excessive fat leads to chronic disease and premature death!!

and has been shown to be a strong predictor of physical disability in later life.

The courageous fighter shuns violence. The skillful soldier avoids anger. A mighty warrior does not fight for petty conquests.

  9. Heavenly father

My only regret is that I didn't become a Christian sooner.

I didn't have you in my life when I needed you many

    years ago.

I wish I had known more about the Bible and had read it.

It could have made a big difference, all the difference.

Now I cultivate my faith by reading Scripture (the Bible)

    and praying.

I'm convinced that god is with me 24 - 7

and pray to him this day and every day

and thank him for every thing for i know with out him i am lost

    thank you for you're love

  10. i'm interested in starting a collection of bat man comic books

to night found the die cast batmobile / hot wheels

about the dollar value of bat man comic books.

the value can go way up right ?

in 20 years it could be worth 20 times more

or is that just wishful thinking

  11. i miss the 80 to and all the beer i used to drink
