  1. Took these pictures during a trip to Paris and Strassbourg, both in France a few years back.

The first one is that of Napoleon and other figures situated on the left pillar (if you're facing it with your back to the Champs d'Elysees) of the l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

This one is, of course, the Eiffel Tower. Taken during winter. I was not able to climb to the top during that time 'coz it was cold and icy up there and even the people manning the elevators have refused to allow visitors to the summit. Really breath-taking, especially when you see it for the very first time.

The bell tower was under repair, but I couldn't resist taking this picture of the Notre Dame cathedral in Strassbourg (also in France, but near the border with Germany). This is not the same Notre Dame where Victor Hugo's fictional Quasimodo spent most of his years before he was cast into the fray with Esmeralda. That one's in Paris (I do have a photo of that somewhere...but I still have to find it first)

  2. sir ramon francisco... even if half of his body is already paralyzed... he still continues to fulfill his duty as an educator...

it was in his class that i had the opportunity to express my own style of writing... he appreciated it and even made some constructive criticisms that i applied to my works later on... my only regret is that i always come a few minutes late for his class... yet he still forgives me... and he knows the two possible reasons why i'm late... either i was busy editing the articles for the school paper... or i was busy stroking the cue stick inside a billiard hall...

such fond memories... and i intend to adopt his style of teaching if fate allows me to become a college instructor just like him...

Hey, he was my professor too (a long time ago, when he was still in good health)...UST ka rin ba?

He was such a cool professor. Sorry to hear about his present physical condition. He recommended me for a scholarship during my time. Too bad I didn't get it because I didn't do well during the interview with the scholarship sponsors.

    PM for you bro.

  3. Conrado De Quiros - He pulls no punches.

Teddy Benigno - Too bad he's gone

I used to like Amando Doronilla, but lately, I'm beginning to find his columns a bit too cozy, like as if he's observing things from an ivory tower...but's that's just my take

(In the realm of police reports) The Tulfo Brothers? - Well, with all the rumors going around in the negative about them, I still do admire their guts in lashing out against their targets, but the admiration is quite tempered, due to the clouds hanging over their integrity.

  4. Crushes lang...torpe ako.

Si Gigi...chinita na cute and medyo chubby...kaso nagka-boyfriend na siya

Si Annie R...wrote her a very nice love letter...mukhang pasado ako sa barkada niya, pero na-basted ako...kaya heartbroken nang matagal...even saw her in college pero I never mustered the courage to court her again...

Si Sheila...COCC ko when I was an officer in CAT...cute and sweet...niligawan ko, pero somehow, nag-fizzle out yung feelings ko...

Si Ache...classmate ko in first year college...napakaganda...pero hanggang crush lang kasi me bf na siya...

Si Wivina...first year college classmate ko din...tisay ang dating...

Si Marielle...classmate ko sa 3rd and 4th year college...napaka-sweet and thoughtful...nakaka-miss..."Cute" ang tawag namin sa kanya ng mga barkada ko

And then my other classmate (forgot her name already) who reminds me of Rita Avila (noong bata pa siya ha)...ganda din...pero mukhang crush naman ng isa kong barkada kaya ayun...hanggang crush lang din ako hehaha...

Jessica...the school library assistant who never fails to smile at me and really looks at me long and hard when I borrow and return books sa literature section and whenever I stay there just to read (and glance at her siyempre hehe)...pero 'ala...torpe pa rin :(

  5. Isa pa, a person considered as "ugly" by Pinoy standards may not necessarily be as such when seen from the eyes of many a non-Filipino. Dark skin is not often considered a plus sa atin (just look at the popularity of whitening lotions, etc.), pero white folks just envy those sporting tanned complexions. I guess the reason we think like that is because we were always exposed to movies and commercials subconsciously chanting the mantra that "white (or fair-skinned for that matter) is beautiful...dark is ugly." Tapos kapag bida, guwapo't maganda, mestiso or mestisa, samantalang yung mga kontrabida ay laging pangit (kung hindi naman masyadong pangit...masungit). Kaya ayun, kapag maitim ang gilagid o di kaya medyo malapad ang ilong, mukhang gangster (kahit mabait naman), the person is unconsciously tagged as a no-no, even in real-life.

Oh, and when I mentioned earlier about a guy's plus factors, I was of course referring to those other than the physical attributes.

  6. Tapsilog...sarap nun ah.

Balik tayo sa topic...bakit nakakahanap ng pangit ang mga dilag na marikit? Siguro the guy tries to make up for his minuses in the physical by highlighting his plus factors...
