  1. the gelboys was a pogi band with absolutely no artistic talent whatsoever. the nailclippers, on the other hand, even does concerts in japan during their heydey. if my (addled) memory serves, sumikat muna dito ang gloria (no relation to gma :) ) tagalog version nila before it became an english song that became a hit for laura branigan. naiba talaga ang lyrics and theme (the nailclippers version was more religious) pero no mistaking the melody.

i remeber the time when sony-columbia records were scarce in pinas. the license, then held by vicor, expired and there was lengthy negotiations as to who would claim it. by that time, mccartney released TUG OF WAR, toto released TOTO IV and michael jackson released THRILLER kaya gyera patani (an 80s expresion) ang mga record labels dito. finally the license went to the young co. octo-arts which, i think, still distributes sony cds today.

octo arts gm is orly ilacad, the OR of VICOR records. the VIC is vic del rosario of VIVA records today.

hirap talaga pag ____ ka na :(

I agree. The Nailclippers probably had a lot more talent under their fingernails then the Gelboys ever had. I just found the act was derivative and lacked originality. Then again, there were a lot of unoriginal OPM acts in the 80s...

  2. Diets, as we traditionally understand them, don't really work because they usually have some form of food deprivation and by their nature cannot be sustained for the long term. They will work initially but only for as long as you are on it. Once you go off the diet, the weight and fat will come back.

It's better to make a lifestyle change and eat moderately and sanely. Reduce fat and salt intake in you diet as well as simple sugars and carbs. Continue to eat the really sinful foods but in moderation. Eat more often (6x a day) but in smaller portions. Be active and exercise at least 3x a week for about 1 to 2 hours with equal time spent on areobic, weight training and stretching...

  4. Do you guys remember Morgan Freeman as a regular in Electric Company as "Easy Reader"? The show also had '80's star Irene Cara.

    That's Pete's pal's pet's pickle.....

  5. pasingit ha....guys saan nakakabili ng turn table? may nabibilhan pa ba? na mi miss ko lang pakinggan yung mga old LPs ko....mga 60s and 70s pa.

    Cheers!

  6. The 80's were a cool period. However, there are some things from the 80's that we'd all rather forget such as:

    1. Noontime show dance contests - e.g. Metallic Gigolo

    2. The Mullet Haircuts (locally known as Siete)

    3. Carrera shades

    4. Blah blahs

    5. Laura Brannigan (my apologies to Laura Brannigan fans).

  7. I was a kid in the 70's. Aside from the sitcoms mentioned (which you could read up on in TV Times) I used to watch a lot of cartoons. Some of the more obscure ones would be Funny Company, Gigantor, Funky Phantom, Speed Racer. I also got a kick out of watching sci-fi reruns like Dr. Who, Space 1999 and Thuderbirds are go...

Before the advent of computer games, we actually brought comics and boardgames to school especially during exam period when there was some time between exams to just hang. We would play games like Monopoly, The Game of Life etc. and trade DC and Marvel Comics. I was in grade 4 when the first calculators and digital watches first debuted. The numbers where lit up on orange LEDs.....

Starwars was such a big hit then that we bought the action figures as well as the bubblegum trading cards. Yes, Collectible cards back then had bubblegum packed with them..

  8. I do not practice criminal law but if i remember correctly, the sex with a girl who is 12 year old or younger, whether or not the same was with her consent, would be considered rape. This is what is commonly referred to as statutory rape.

Thus, consensual sex with a 14 year old would not qualify as statutory rape.

    Cheers!

  9. Companero, I know some Pinoy lawyers who practice in LA. However, they are into either Tax or Immigration Law practice. What kind of lawyer are you looking for? Let me know.

    Cheers!

  11. Interesting topic. I remember that I was in Prep when Martial Law was declared. Nothing but Marcos on TV and static on the other channels. The streets were eeriely quite. According to my Dad, a lot of people actually favored the imposition of ML because the peace and order situation was getting worse around that time, what with street demonstrations and an overall rise in criminality. Of course, I didn't care less. I was just pissed because I could not watch Popeye the Sailorman on Channel 7.

There is an interesting theory that used to do the rounds that put forth the theory that the downfall of Marcos was due in part to his order to ban the showing of the Super Robot cartoons (e.g. Voltes V, Mazinger Z, and Daimos) on TV. A lot of the kids who were fans of these toons were the same young adults who demonstarted against Marcos during the times leading up to the EDSA Revolution.

Before I go way off topic does anyone remember Faded Glory Jeans , Nik-Nik shirts, Bang-Bang and Yeh Yeh Vonnel?

    Cheers!

  12. If you ask me Thony, the thought that the legal profession is probably the only one where one gets paid for "screwing" others should be enough to get you back on track!!

Seriously, heed Companero Freelickers advice. Relax a bit then hit the books. Repeat as necessary.

    Cheers!

  13. Finally, a thread for the crabby ones. Dekampanilla - 22 June!!

Their abilities fit the Cancerian for a wide range of occupations. As they are interested in what people are thinking and able to judge what they can safely be told, they can be good journalists, writers or politicians, though in this last capacity they are more likely to remain in the background rather than attain prominent positions of power. They may, indeed, change their party affiliations. They can serve in other departments of public affairs, especially those which involve looking after others, for example in any kind of service from welfare and nursing to catering - their own love of comfort and good living makes the Cancerian an excellent chef or housekeeper. They sometimes have a penchant for trade or business and are often successful as a captain of industry. This is because they are excellent organizers with a good sense of value and economy which they may combine with a flair for inventiveness and originality. The romantic side of their natures make them enjoy grubbing about in places where exciting discoveries may be made (old stamp collections in attics, etc.), and if they can do this professionally as a secondhand dealer or specialist in antiques, they will be happy. More common occupations which suit some subjects of Cancer are real estate broker, gardener and sailor.

  14. Mukhang wala talagang discount card ang VC ngayon. I was at VC in Caloocan and Pasay very recently. Both said that they don't give out discount cards. Bad trip.

Have any of you guys tried the VIP room with the second floor? Medyo mahal (1800 for 6 hrs) pero ang laki ng kwarto, may jacuzzi sa itaas and very tasteful ang theme.

I've tried these twice. Yung isa may glass floor yung jacuzzi sa itaas which is directly above the bed. I had the chick get the jacuzzi ready and was treated to a great view of her pussy from the ground floor. Sweet! Problema lang talaga ay masakit sa bulsa. Also, the food is OK but not as good as Anito.

    Cheers!

  15. Sorry but I think this hidden cam thing in metro manila motels is a lot of bull. College pa lang ako, pinaguusapan na yan (im 37 yes old) If it were true, I am sure someone would have his hands on a copy of the hidden cam movie or pics by now. Wala akong alam na meron niyan. Yung sa cebu meron niyan but it wasn't even a motel. I believe that it was a house or apartment which the owner allowed some people to use for sex for his own devious plans.

  16. Wow!

I didn't realize there were so many lawyer Manyaks in the house. My apologies for being a bit off-topic but perhaps we can organize a mini EB for the lewd legal luminaries.

BTW, I'd like to participate/give advice on this Legal Thread but my area is Tax & Corporate Law, isn't really a very popular topic for fellow manyaks. I might end up giving the wrong or outdated advice if I venture into other areas of law. I'll watch out for questions on this topic, though.

    Cheers!
