  1. Lampard should have made that shot in the first leg. It has proven to be a very crucial miss.

Notice how packed the penalty box is everytime the blues got near it? Benitez on the sideline made sure his ward heard him telling them to all go down for the defensive task. That was why all shots were blocked. The only shot on target was Lampard's from a set play.

Let's see if Liverpool can defend from the European player of the year in the finals. Im sure Milan will get there.

  2. heard of the new rules UEFA has set for 2006? european teams should consist of home grown talents. the % of home grown playes to imported ones increases every year. why would UEFA want to do this? what if no one comes up and hone his skills for a certain hometown?

  3. Chelsea vs Arsenal 0-0

Very disappointing. Arsenal once again sprinted in the first half but lost wind. Pires hit the bar. Had another chance but blew it. Chelsea was more technical but Drogba just cant finish.

Again I say Chelsea's got a very good defense. Arsenal in the 2nd half cant penetrate the midfielders and the back 3 .

  4. i'm betting on ac milan & chelsea as the finalists and milan beating chelsea for the title..

ac milan has the better defense & their attacking is clinical in crespo & shevchenko..

Ditto. Milan and Chelsea in the finals. but im rooting for chelsea to win over milan . i say their defense is better.

  5. Bayern Munich 3 - Chelsea 2, but Chelsea advances to semis on 6-5 aggregate.

AC Milan 1 Inter 0 but match was called off 19 minutes to go as fans started throwing debris onto the field.  UEFA to decide if the result will stand or if there will be a need to play the last 19 minutes.  AC up 3-0 on aggregate.

I was tempted to watch these games at 2am but I just slept it away. At least chelsea went ahead to win .

  6. It seems a repeat for Juventus , lagging behind by 1 goal in the away game against Real Madrid in the previous round. Can they manage to do the same with Liverpool next week? win by 2-0

  7. TO SUN SUBSCRIBERS , some helpful tidbit :

..Ablaza said the NTC should apply its regulations consistently and fairly. He said all players must adhere to the service standard set by the commission, which requires that 93 out of 100 calls be connected in the first attempt and that no more than five out of 100 calls should be prematurely terminated or dropped by the network...

..Globe said that its own test showed that 35.4 out of 100 Sun Cellular calls during a 14-hour average period failed to connect although on the drop call benchmark, 5.09 out of 100 calls were terminated by the Sun network...

  8. i've been watching french ligue 1 on the fox soccer channel, and this lyon team is loaded with talent, especially in the midfield. mickael essien is regarded as "the next roy keane", and as i've said before, juninho pernacambau is the best free-kick taker in all of world football.

Youre lucky to have that channel over there :) Is the game against PSV to be played at home in Lyon?

  9. Chelsea seems to have fate in its side..

".......Bayern Munich suffered a double injury crisis ahead of Wednesday's Champions League quarterfinal against Chelsea.

The Bundesliga leaders' top two strikers Claudio Pizarro and Roy Makaay were injured in their 3-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday. .... "

  10. england is looking good. they will probably present the strongest european challenge for the world cup. rating from current performances, its gonna be between argentina, brazil, england and maybe italy.

england has arguably the best centre midfield pairing in frank lampard and steven gerrard. they have 3 big, solid centre backs in rio ferdinand, sol campbell and john terry. the emergence of joe cole has added pace and danger to their attack. but england's chances will rest on the development of wayne rooney.  he is the one player the south americans have reason to fear.

the other "usual suspects" from europe: france still cannot find a decent replacement for zidane (understandable, considering he is probably one of the top 5 players of ALL-TIME). and i don't see enough talent in germany, holland, czech republic or portugal to worry argentina or brazil. and spain? they do have the talent but they just don't deliver at the big stage.

England seems a slow-starter. Needs to be pushed to work out their offense. But I agree they have a great line-up.
