  1. Hey guys,

Are there any martial arts gym in Taguig near The Fort? I only see a fitness gym (Fitness first) in that area. I'll be taking a trip to the Philippines in August and I'm planning to do a little training. I'm still looking a for a place to stay, which I narrowed down to Makati or Taguig. Makati has this gym "http://bjjphilippines.com/main/Head_School_-_Makati_Gym/" , and I just can't find any by The Fort. Any info would help greatly.

    Thanks! :thumbsupsmiley:

  2. yeah i know... what i meant was... IF he did the same way as he beat Hong Man Choi to schiltz then i'll be impressed. we all know that Hong Man Choi is/was a k1 fighter so beating a guy w/ very limited ground skills are not that impressive at all...

Fedor pulls armbars and kimuras on people like crazy. Not that it matters but Hong Man Choi can beat Fedor in Rap and Dancing, that boy has skills.

  3. i beg to disagree with machida being a complete fighter, a complete fighter kasi para sa akin finishes fights parang si spider silva now yun, that guy is a complete fighter. and si karo naman, he was a complete baby pagka talo nya sa ultimate fight night, mwehehehe ibang klase yung tantrum nya! i like the guy but i don't like the way he handled that loss. ^_^

ganda ng laban din ni frank shamrock & cung le, too bad sabog yung braso ni shamrock sa kaka sanga sa paa ni cung le tas yun pa tinarget ni cung le. new strikeforce WW champ si cung le!

I agree that with you that Machida isnt a complete...yet. The fight with Tito will tell us a lot about him. He is getting better by every fight though. That Black House Camp with Nog,Machida,Silva is nuts. It could be possible that they can hold all 3 the titles at the same time. I don't think a camp has done that before. I know Miletich did 2 out of 3 belts (LW and MW had no belts).

I was up in my feet the whole fight! That was amazing. What was funny, I told my brother that Cung Le will break Shamrocks arm during the 2nd round. I mean, no forearm can take that much punishment! So when they stopped the fight at the end of the third and they said due to a broken arm, I was dying laughing. BTW, Frank had a 5hr surgery for that forearm. He said in his site he felt the crack during the first. It gotten worst during the second, then just went out of place during the third on that final kick. I think I would've quit at the first round since I know Le would just keep throwing those damn kicks at me, I guess that's why im not a fighter... Those two deserves a lot of credit for the performance. RESPECT! :thumbsupsmiley:

  4. and alot of cans...

fedor should be fighting randy, barnet or arlovski to retain his best p4p status...

but his "alleged" $2M asking price per fight is crazy, Its more than the total payroll of a normal UFC event.

I totally agree. Fedor asking for that much is bullshit. UFC will never pay him that much, EliteXC already said no.

  5. The problem with Alexander is his glass jaw and being alien on the ground, hehehehhe! He better assess himself if he really wants to stay longer in MMA... Or better yet, hook up with Brandon Vera and his training camp...

The guy lives in Nebraska. WTF is in Nebraska? Unless it's football, you won't get the best training available. Yep, it's all about the camp. Brandon Vera actually trained with James Irvin for this fight in Fairtex in SF. So did the Cesar Gracie camp that fought in EliteXC. :thumbsupsmiley:

  6. I doubt it if Forrest will stand a chance against Machida for the reason that he's style compliment that of Machida's, and I

have yet to see a fighter that would match or even defeat Machida's cerebral style of fighting. I dont know what is wrong

with fights that go the distance, but to me, it is equally exciting and, sometimes, even more fun to watch than fights that

ends in TKO or submission... Even exciting fighters sometimes resort to going the distance once they realize that they would go nowhere if they plan to end the fight in fashion (I dont know if you all know about this, but in UFC, a fighter gets extra dough once he ends the match in style, e.i., TKO, submission)...

Personally, I dont like Machida's style the same way I dont like the tacticians/counter-punchers in boxing, but you just cant deny the fact that Lyoto is a prototype of a complete fighter, deadly on stand-up as well as on ground, and Dana White is beginning to notice that... And besides, we watch fights mainly because of the fighters and not because of his style...

Highly unlikely. First off, its Liddell vs. Evans (Shogun's injured), so, whoever wins here will get the title shot

regardless of who will win between Forrest and Rampage. Second, rematch, with regards to current holder and the dethroned dont happen right away in UFC because its just not in their books, its not as simple as that, so if Rampage lost his title, he would have to go at the back of the line and work his way to a title shot...

The way I see it, since Rampage-Griffin is locked and loaded now, if Lyoto wins against Tito, he will fight the winner between Wandy and Jardine (dont expect Jardine to get a title shot if he wins, he was f#&ked by Alexander and he did not win the fight against Chuck, Chuck lose it), and this fight will determine who gets the title shot, whoever will be the champion by that time... So, it would be at least one fight before Machida gets the title shot, but that all depends on the business aspect of the UFC, the scheduling and injuries will play a big part in fights, coupled by great showings of other fighters...

Rematches are often quick in UFC. Remember Sylvia and Arlovski 2 and 3? Couture and Liddell, Couture only had one fight between Couture-Liddell 2 and 3. Jardine f#&ked up Griffin before he was beaten by Alexander, then he beat Liddell. The fact that Griffin gets a shot after he beat Shogun, although dominating, is all about marketing. Ultimate Fighter 7 is on right now. If Jardine beats Silva, he deserves a shot. If Silva wins, there are talks of a Silva-Liddell for Dec. The fact that Liddell already lost to Rampage twice makes it hard for Liddell to get a shot this year. But I still see Liddell ahead of Lyoto in terms of getting a shot. Now if Lyoto just schools Tito, then UFC will have a hard time denying him of a chance. But they can still have Lyoto fight Jardine or Evans if the both guys win against Silva and Liddell. Then fight for belt.

  7. UFC PPVs are shown "live" on Balls Ch. 33 on Sky Cable (~10-11AM).

Replays are @10PM on Studio23 (FreeTV) & usually ~9PM, the day after the fight on Balls 33.

OMG!!! You are a savior! Thanks so much. Sky Cable is the cable company in Makati?

  8. i'll be impressed if he did it w/ semy schiltz but w/ k1 fighter hong man choi who has limited exposure to MMA fights? not amzing at all...

he beat Schiltz already in 02. his first fight in Pride

  9. not sure if you guys have seen this....

Fedor Emilianenko v.s. Hong Man Choi

grabe galing ni fedor...he defeated this korean giant by submission....

Fedor might be fighting in UFC soon. He was released from M1. So the Couture vs Fedor might happen. But since there are 4 lawsuits pending between Couture and UFC, Couture doesn't want to even fight Fedor in UFC. Anywhere else is ok I guess.

  10. agree 100%! eventhough he defeated the likes of franklin & penn, he's still not marketable. maybe if he submit his ortiz and the other fighter he'll face then its safe to say that he should get a title shot but if he just win it via decision then its a long way to go before that dream of a title shot will happen.

anyway, you can watch UFC 83 in sky cable. i forgot the channel but its their own version of jack tv and solar sports for it shows both wrestling and UFC.

Oh thanks! :thumbsupsmiley: Now I have look for Sky Cable when i'm there.

  12. Hey guys, quick question. I'm going to Pinas next week. I'll be there for 3 weeks. Anyways, I'll miss the GSP-Serra fight live on PPV here. Is it always definite that Solar Sports show the UFC's monthly event? I'm kinda freaking out because I'm not sure where they show this dyan sa Pinas. I have a lot invested in the fight since I'm a big GSP fan, but also we have a mutual training partner between GSP and Serra since GSP used to train jits here at Renzo Gracie's gym. Which is where Serra tweak his training also. Anyways, I just want to know if Solar Sports will show this for sure. Thanks guys, I appreciate it big time!

  13. If Machida beats Ortiz, it may be saf to say that he may get a crack at the title.

I doubt it. He isnt as marketable. Also look who is in line: We know Griffin has it next. If JArdine beats Silva, he should get it. If Chuck beat Shogan, he's in line. If Silva beat Jardine, he'll fight Chuck again. Winner then gets a shot. I don't see Machida getting a shot. Also if Griffin beat JAckson, a rematch will be before MAchida. MAchida has to win a few more fights. He is the 205 version of Jon Fitch pertaining to getting a shot at the belt. Fitch gets winner of GSP-Serra, but he had to win 8 in a row first. Machida is half way there..lol

  14. ^ but atleast sylvia dominated his opponents. its just that he cant seem to ktfo them but for sure he did won via unanimous decisions...

Sylvia is the only fighter that has stand up version of a lay pray. I can't believe he made a fight with Arlovski as boring as that. Well almost all his fighter are boring.

  15. machida vs ortiz. i'll pick ortiz anytime of the day! he wont just fight and live another day, this time if he losses there goes all his effort to become the face of UFC for the longest time plus the fact that this'll be his last fight in UFC makes it more interesting.

If Ortiz can take Machida down then he can win. The thing about Machida, his fighting style is so unorthodox that it's hard to figure out during fight time. He has that jumping karate stands going. Even Chuck Liddell's trainer Gene Hackleman said that he doesn't want Chuck to face Machida because of his style. Machida never face a guy that has a takedown and gnp like Ortiz though. But it doesn't matter, this will be Ortiz's last fight in UFC :thumbsupsmiley:

  16. question po...

i sprained (rolled in) my ankle six weeks ago.

did R.I.C.E. on the first 24 hours, then i went to the doctor the following day. i had to because this is the worst sprained ankle i had in my whole life... i couldn't even put a little pressure on it.

x-ray was clean and doctor put cast on it after 2 more days. doctor said that the swelling was too much and he wanted it a little smaller before molding the cast on my ankle.

had the cast for less than two weeks because it was irritating me a lot!

i can walk properly now and move my ankle in any directions (stretching exercises), but there's still a small bump around my outer ankle.

i wanna start playing basketball or at least jogging again soon. am i good to go? or should i start worrying already? do i need to visit my doctor again?

    thanks guys!!

Dude, wait. I had the same ankle sprain from basketball where my ankle ballooned 6 years ago. I force to play on it after 4 weeks. Ever since then my ankle has never been the same. Its been tender and weaker. So take as much time as possible, don't rush it.

  17. Shoulder popped out during sparring.

    Blew knee out during grappling.

    Neck problem during grappling.

    Rotator cuff during lifting.

Sprained ankle during basketball. NEver been the same since.

    Cracked hand during boxing.

I should've drunk more milk when i was a kid
