  1. HAS ANYONE TRIED THE NEW V-FUEL FROM SHELL?

THEY ARE MARKETING IT AS FERRARI FUEL.  ANY FEEDBACKS?

I gassed up yesterday and tried V-Power from Shell. Here's what I found out:

V-Power is actually a new fuel product that effectively replaces their top brand.

It is a unique formulation that contains components selected for their ability to deliver more power and acceleration through improved combustion.

It's 95 Octane formulation is designed to maximize the acceleration potential of cars.

It contains Friction Modification Technology (FMT), the same technology used by Ferrari for the F1 races beginning 2006. It is designed to actively reduce friction by introducing a surface-coating component to protect critical engine parts. This helps unlock valuable energy and is designed to give improved performance right from the first tankful.

It is designed to prevent power-robbing deposits from forming on the valves and injection systems. In addition, it is formulated to clean up existing deposits to enhance the responsiveness of your engine. Using Shell V-Power can help keep a new car performing like new for longer and can help rejuvenate older cars.

*These were taken from the flyers they provide at every shell station, obviously to promote the new product.

  2. Heto pa isa.....the ever famous.....

Hen. Tinio (one located in Makati, the other in Retiro, QC)

This is the ever-famous street screamed out by a jeepney-laden woman who almost got past her destination. She shouted to the driver: "Mamang Driver! Sa Kanto Tinio lang po ako! Kanto Tinio po ako!"

  3. Problema dito, football is not promoted as much as basketball is.....di ganun kalaki ang sponsorships ng football.

Indeed, even in the local news every night, di masyado banggit ang world cup unlike sa cnn and bbc na extensive ang coverage nila sa quadrennial event na ito.

the philippine football federation should take action to address this lack of interest.....

  4. [Thank you bro. I appreciate it. Hopefully makabili rin ako pag nakaipon na at pag nakauwi na ako. Toyota ba ang mas matibay at the same time ay maporma? Again thanks sa reply bro. Have a great day.

well, I can only speak of Toyota. I haven't had a chance to own other brands of cars as of yet. But on my experience, Totoya offers a wide array of spare parts at very affordable prices....dami rin available sa market na mods n kits para mabihisan mo siya.

For parts, of course, there are original certified parts either from Toyota or from other reputable supply shops. There are also widely available "replacement" parts that come from Taiwan, Japan, Germany, and Italy. And finally, the ever more cheap "surplus" in the areas of Banawe in QC, Evangelista in Pasay/Makati area, the Blumenttrit and Sta Cruz areas, and Bacoor in Cavite.

And then when it comes to the time that you'd like to sell it for an upgrade, the prices are not that low compared to mazda's but not too high compared to honda's.

  5. I don't recommend disengaging gears by shifting to neutral. Your tires lose traction and if there's a need for emergency stopping, there's no engine braking. Safety outweighs other considerations, including saving on fuel, long run or not.

I once read an article in a broadsheet sometime ago saying you should even switch off the engine when all you have ahead of you is open road - just to conserve gasoline. Nothing could've been more harebrained.

Isn't it that when you glide, your engine is still up and running? I agree with you on the second paragraph re: switching off the engine. With this method, you also switch off the vacuum power necessary to engage your brakes.

However, I do not think cars lose wheel traction when you 'glide'. As said, you can engage your braking system at any time, down shift (effectively doing an engine brake), or a combination of the two, when the need arises.

  6. Boss andrewfordmedina,

Bro ang galing ng ride mo. Local ba yan? Magkano pa ba ang presyo pag ganyan pa kaganda. I hope you don't mind. I would love to have one tapos bihisan. Thanks and have a great day.

Local lang ito bro. Bought it from a departing seaman for P260K. Kami na lang nagbihis.

I'll try to get a pic of the trunk and the interior para kita niyo at magka-idea din yung may gusto.

    Thanks man!

  7. I had my first experience of the supernatural in my wife's provincial home way back in '01. T'was my first time to set foot on the house having taken my mother-in-law from Manila back to her own home as she was in the last stages of the big "C." Doctors at St. Lukes have advised us to just follow what she wants, give her the benefit of enjoying what she would ask for the remaining days of her life.

And so we got there. After 9 grueling hours of bus trip, we arrived. Everything was fine. My wife showed me 'our' bedroom while mommy (in-law) took to hers together with the househelp which we also brought with us from Manila. Each night would be okay. Now, I used to wake up in the middle of the night and go out of the bedroom to the bathroom (good it was beside our bedroom) without turning on any lights. This is because I am afraid that should I turn on even just one tiny light, mommy would be awaken and she would have a hard time getting her sleep again considering the pain she was constantly undergoing.

It was on the 3rd or 4th night as I recall, that I was awakened by something. I remember looking at the end of the bed near my and my wife's feet and there was a man standing there, facing to his left, wearing a gray coat or americana as we call it. For about a minute or so, I was trying to decipher who he was since I still don't know most of my new wife's relatives, and the fact that it was my first time in the house. I could not see his face, only a blank, gray figure of a head was there. Remarkably was his broad shoulders owing to the coat.

It was after those one to two minutes that it dawned on me that the figure could be her dad that had passed away since '83. I had goosebumps as the figured quickly disappeared. I quickly stood up, turned on the bedroom lights and the hallway lights as well before going to the bathroom.

The following morning, mommy asked me why I turned on the lights last night as she can sense pala each time that I step out of the bedroom I don't turn on any lights. I told her what I saw and she showed me her husband's portrait wearing a gray coat and tie. Perfect match.

Relatives say that daddy was just checking me out.

  10. Hey! tip lang sa mga manyak na mahilig mag-overspeeding sa NLEX:

the NLEX is now considered a state-of-the-art highway.....so they have cameras installed at strategic locations throughout the stretch. they also have radar guns that can measure your speed at any given point.

the reason why I know this eh kasi yung cuz ni esmi drove there once, naka-Isuzu Crosswind SUVi siya. At the point of Shell Gasoline station in Balagtas, Bulacan, he claimed he was just cruising at 140kph. Tops daw niya was 170kph somewhere before or along the viaduct.

Pag dating niya sa dau exit, he was not allowed to exit until he was escorted by an NLEX patrol dun sa office nila nearby. pinakita sa kanya video ng takbo niya with matching speed annotated underneath.

  11.

My car is just a lowly mid sized sedan... :P

But today she went an impressive 105 MPH ( can sum1 just convert this to kph as i dont know how   in this rather secluded stretch of Westheimer Parkway :boo:

    And nahh... im no speedster!

    FYI: 1mile = 1.6 km hope that helps roughly around 168kph... :D

    Wow thanks.

    Was that fast?  :hypocritesmiley:

I didn't know you can drive that fast........hey, hey, hey! I learned something new today! Hip Hip Hooray! I learned something new today!

Ako? Takot ako eh....specially if my daughter's inside the car.....kaya at most, hanggang 120 kph lang ako. Tops na yung 140. galit kasi ako nun...... :grr:

  12. as to using the car's momentum.....it is called gliding.

when you have reached enough momentum between two points, let's say between p. faura and quirino along roxas blvd, and you anticipate that by the time you reach quirino, the stop light would be on, you can let go of the accelarator, and/or switch to neutral and let your car just glide through the road. this reduces your gasoline consumption in the long run..
