  1. nice win...and a good shooting night by the kings. mabuti naman at di na pinasok c yancy. nagugulo kasi ang laro ng mga kasama niya sa court kapag ipinapasok siya. mukhang ayos na din si canaleta sa rotation so sana dere-derecho na. bigyan din sana ng playing time si cervantes. mukhang may ibubuga naman.

reil cervantes at around 6'3' is a legit low post player. he was the only low post threat ng feu during collegiate career niya and not afraid to bang bodies inside. he will do well if given playing time lalo na ngayong binabangko si yancy, wala si villanueva at si tatang eric menk.

  2. I agree.. at first they took CJ Giles who was a defensive beast and way more athletic than Douthit. Problem is sobrang pasaway, panay ata night life and if i'm not mistaken ay sumabit pa ata sa gulo in a night club. Thus, maski maganda sana cohesion nya with the then team ay sinibak sya. The Serbian import that we got was Milan Vučićević who was not much of a scorer and defensive anchor that the team needed although he had solid basketball fundamentals and he can shoot from the outside. He only played for 1 foreign tournament with the team as an import yata. On the local side, those that were initially given a 3-year contract and signed it were Cris Tiu, Jayvee Casio, Dylan Ababou, Marc Barroca, Mac Baracael.. The rest diko na matandaan pero sina Rabeh Al Hussaini also signed a contract (shorter) for 1 year before going pro. The fil-ams were only signed mid-way (Lassiter and Lutz) after conducting try-outs in the states. The likes of Paul Lee or Noy Baclao din ata rejected the invitation to play for flag and country since the concept of having a long-term contract was new and they did not want to be tied if they wanted to go pro. Dapat pa nga commend yong first batch of players who took a leap of faith and signed a long term contract of the likes of Cris Tiu who opted to remain and be a part of the future Gilas team/program. Si Japeth Aguilar ay nadagdag na lang din after his urong-sulong mentality and playing for the then PBA flavored Powerade team where Gilas actually fared way better.

I guess the point was that there was a program in place, the hiring of Toroman was part of that vision and the selection of the players was a fluid thing that constantly had some changes with the import dilemma wherein Douthit's naturalization papers was actually delayed. Amateur players that dreamed of playing in the PBA than representing the country was actually a constant problem, sana nag-stay na lang si al Hussaini he would have been of help. Even Paul Lee of Baclao could have helped shore up the frontline and the likes of Slaughter and Aldrech Ramos should have played on the recent FIBA games instead of their mother university teams. Parang nawawala yong prioritization or even Junmar Fajardo of Cebu should have been part of Gilas, alam ko tumaggi din handler nito since supported ata ni Graham Lim backer nya dati. All in all, its not fair to blame Toroman for all the suposedly short-coming of the Olympic qualification goal. Yeah we failed but we fared way better that our accomplishments have been for the past 10 years or so inspite of the obstacles that it has to go thru. I think what the program needs is continuity/stability (player and coach), player development (for the young talents), unity and prioritization. Playing for the flag and country should be the top priority over playing for collegiate or PBA teams. The best amateur or professional players should play for the national team. If ayaw mag-cooperate ng PBA then the focus should be on the best amateur talent available and sufficient dapat ang compensation for the players to stay within the program and not be lured by going pro agad. I think if Paul Lee played for Smart Gilas then he would surely have been the number 1 pick hands down. Even Jason Ballesteros na bangko lang ng Gilas was even selected on the first round of PBA coz players do improve in terms of skill set and maturity. I have faith in MVP din naman, hopefully top-caliber coach pa din ang kunin if not Toroman pero dapat i-address din yong ibang problems that snagged the recent Gilas team. Tigilan na dapat ang stop gap measures of getting PBA players on the last minute at walang nangyayari sa atin dito.

now, theres someone who knows his basketball. ^_^

  3. sorry i mean toroman NEVER had a program.

u said toroman never had a program? and built a team around douthit and took it from there?

i just cant believe what i read.

    baliktad ang pagkakaintindi mo kapatid.

fyi, smart gilas was already a team when douthit came. it was a 3 year program.

douthit was in the team for a year. ibig sabihin may smart gilas na bago pa dumating si douthit.

another proof of this was there were a few american and even a serbian who played for smart but never got toromans nod as the teams naturalized player. so how could u say that the team was built around douthit?

do u mind me asking, si yeng guiao ka ba? o si chot reyes?

  5. ^^ Done?!?! Naaah! MJ still joins Bobcats practices from time to time. And as Gerald Wallace can attest, Jordan's jump shot is still there.

    http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2011/02/wallace-on-mjs-game-he-still-has-it.html

IMO, Jordan can still average around 20ppg in the PBA. The quickness is no longer there so MJ might likely play PF. And if Jordan had been very effective in the post against the giants of the NBA, imagine how he'll work the paint against smaller players. ;)

jordan with a 20ppg in the pba? wishful thinking.

  6. two more wins. this was how gilas was so close in accomplishing its goal...who knows? maybe a few lucky bounce in the dying seconds of its last game against korea, we might've made it to the qualifying. nonetheless, the undeniable fact remains that it was toroman's knowledge of international basketball that made this leap (from #54 to #45). sbp should just retain the services of toroman and continue the program. the 4th place finish showed that the program worked. chot reyes? forget it...he had his chance before. unfortunately his program didn't work.

sir junix, thats precisely what im talking about.

sayang talaga ang program ni coach rajko.

if theres one thing that mvp could learn from boss danding as a basketball patriarch is this.

boss danding stuck it out with ron jacobs and his boys come hell or high water.

  7. its been ages since we had a national basketball program.

toroman's 3 years of basketball program improved us from #54 to #45. hell! we couldve rung up a few notches higher if we hadnt lost to #34 korea.

the argument is simple. between the two (toroman and reyes) who is well versed in fiba rules? who knows the coaches, players and scouts of the other teams? and who has the experience in coaching at fiba sanctioned games?

sbp officials mus not throw it away. the program works. let rajko toroman stay as coach. and kick chot out of any duties in smart gilas basketball program.

  8. does this mean it's time to call in mr. jaworski? pero di naman nakikinig ang bgk management eh tsk tsk tsk

with the present players that the kings have, i don't think ginebra will be going far this conference. with petron, tnt and bmeg having strong lineups, a semis stint will really be a bonus. i believe it's only bgk that did not reload on its lineup...tama ba?

sir observation ko lang po yan.

sana ay irevamp na ang buong bgk.

ang itira at kunin ay yung may never say die attitude.

dahil kung ganyan lang ang team. walang mararating ang bgk.
