  1. Former UFC heavyweight number one contender Shane Carwin tweets that he's scheduled for UFC 125 on Jan. 1 against Roy Nelson as the likely candidate; however, "Big Country" tweets that he's still in rehab for his surgically repaired knee.

UFC 127: Forrest Griffin vs Rich Franklin in the works for February 5

UFC light heavyweight veterans Forrest Griffin and Rich Franklin appear to be heading toward a Super Bowl Weekend showdown at UFC 127 on February 5 in Las Vegas.

MMA Fighting brought word of the pending match up today.

Griffin has sat out all of 2010 after undergoing shoulder surgery this past spring.

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 1 winner most recently defeated Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 last November via split decision. Forest was scheduled to meet Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 114 earlier this year but was forced to pull out of the contest due to the aforementioned shoulder injury.

A win over the always tough Franklin could catapult Griffin back towards the top of the 205-pound class.

  2. WTF just happen to BJ? I think BJ needs to re-assess his career in MMA now. He's clearly lost all desire to fight.

i agree, i think bj needs to check if he needs to retire or go to other weight class.

  3. when will other people learn to respect Brock? am i the only one here thinks that he'll hold the belt for a very long time? geez, i don't see cain velasquez beating brck, Lesnar will just toy him around and throw him easily anytime on the ring with that huge body...

5 out of 5 winners this time for me. damn, i so good in mma...

don't forget the long lay off, life threatening illness, lack of experience, untested chin and he was still able to get the job done.

  5. UFC 108: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs Cain Velasquez in the works for Jan. 2

Former UFC interim heavyweight champion and mixed martial arts legend, Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira, is in talks to take on undefeated rising star Cain Velasquez at UFC 108, which is slated for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Jan. 2.

Sensei Sportv (via Tatame.com) was the first to report the potential showdown. No official announcement has come from the promotion, or Velasquez’s camp, at this time.

    Stay tuned.

UFC 108 is expected to feature a reshuffled main event between ailing heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar (if he can recover from a serious illness), and number one division contender, Shane Carwin. Former 205-pound champion, Rashad Evans, is currently penciled in to collide with Brazilian slugger, Thiago Silva, in the co-featured fight of the night.

  6. Saw VI (2009)

We were all let down by Saw 5 and believe me as a huge fan of the Saw series I was nervous going to see this, I knew if they did not pull it off the series would be as good as dead. This film is easily the best since part two, and somehow actually made me want to see part seven. For those already invested in the series "Saw VI" is a Halloween treat. It's smarter than the previous three and it features some of the series most interesting traps.

  8. Fedor Emelianenko vs Brett Rogers Strikeforce fight announced

Strikeforce announced today at an open media workout in New York City that its prized free agent acquisition, Fedor Emelianenko (30-1), will make his promotional debut against undefeated hard-hitting heavyweight prospect, Brett Rogers (10-0).

No confirmed date or location is available at this time; however, the showdown is likely to happen on a Showtime-produced card sometime in November.

Emelianenko — a former Pride FC Heavyweight Champion and Affliction MMA headliner — recently signed a multi-fight contract with the San Jose-based mixed martial arts promotion under a special co-promotion agreement with M-1 Global.

“The Last Emperor” was in cruise control under the Affliction MMA banner after back-to-back wins over former UFC heavyweight champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski.

He was in line for a WAMMA title defense against Josh Barnett at the Aug. 1 “Trilogy” event until “The Babyface Assassin” got popped for steroids in a random pre-fight drug test.

The cash-strapped promotion closed up shop shortly thereafter, leaving Emelianenko (once again) the hottest free agent in mixed martial arts. After a hot and heavy pursuit from the UFC, Emelianenko opted to sign with Strikeforce primarily because of the co-promotion caveat.

Rogers is coming off a devastating knockout win over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski at the “Lawler vs. Shields” event from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., on June 6.

Rogers was a +300 underdog heading into the fight but needed just 0:22 seconds to put “The Pitbull” to sleep — the second time for Arlovski in as many fights.

“The Grimm,” now 10-0, looks poised to capitalize on his new found stature. “This sport is all about timing,” he said. “This fight took me to the next level and now is definitely my time. Everyone saw tonight that I am not one to play with.”

We’ll find out soon enough as he now prepares to take on arguably the top mixed martial arts fighter on the planet.
