  1. Hi,

Just came across some crossbow for sale at SM Hypermart. This kinda got me interested. Wanna know lang is anybody out there has done crossbow arrow shooting? I'm thinking of setting up a crossbow club- merong competition and the like.

  2. Last Sunday, our own Pacquiao got victimized by a bad judging decision. Pero Pacman was not the first Pinoy who got robbed. In '96 and '64 Olympics, Onyok Velasco and Anthony Villanueva got robbed by of gold medals when they fell victims to mafia-like bad decisions.

Its just sad pag matalo ang rightful victor dahil sa mga incompetent/ corrupt judges. Just wonder what would be the all time worst boxing decisions...

  3. E si Paul Weller pala yung source, who is not credible because he has an axe to grind having been spurned by the team several times for misleading people into believing he recruits Fil-foreign talents for the team.

Besides, it was Weller himself who mentioned only 2 were directly involved (with the other 2 being involved as accessories - the first guy having a legitimate, consensual sex, while the other one simply took a video). Baka fine dining meal 'ala MTC yun tapos the other two were free riders, which the FDM resented. This is just speculation, though.

Ka namesake pa niya yung lead singer The Style Council (80s alternative band) and The Jam (70s punk rock band) :-)

To quote our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, "Ang di marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa sa malansang isda"...

  5. im glad the Azkals won over Sri Lanka, and are rekindling interest in football here in pinas.

As for elvaracco's hope that "love of country" and "love of sport" being these fil-europeans' motivations, well quite frankly i doubt it. Obviously they know that while they are not stars in europe, here in phils. they can be superstars/celebrities by virture of looks, etc. And probably they are well-compensated for their time and effort by the team's sponsors.

    sana i'm wrong, though.

I suppose only time will tell if indeed, their intentions are patriotic and noble. Lets hope na ganun na nga. I just recalled, during my last stay in Sagada, the natives were proud of their football/ soccer team. Pinagmamalaki nila that unbeatable sila sa region nila, and that is because the foreign tourist who visit the place are too willing to play with and impart their knowledge and skill to the young people. So nagkakaroon din ng influx of football technology. I just hope na ganun din mangyari sa football natin on a wider scope....

  6. I think the Afros in the Euro teams came from the countries former colonies. I'm not sure if the colonies countries took part of their culture from their Euro colonizers.

Sa akin naman, I don't see any problem with Fil-foreigners in the Azkal team for as long as their motive is love of country first and love of sport second. I just hope that these Fil-foreigners would be willing to impart their knowledge of the game, talents, and skills to our homegrown youth.

Sana lang, kahit mag retire si Asi sa international competition, or even the PBA, he would still play an active part in the Philippine basketball development as some sort of a skills coach to out up coming big men like Junmar Fajardo or Greg Slaughter. Malaki maitutulong nila in sharing his experience in developing their talents.

Which leads me to ask, is "The Secret" really true? Does all that positive thinking generate results? Maybe I should start another thread for "The Secret"

  9. Ah, John C. Met him a few years ago. He's a member of MTC also. :-) Gratz on your new business John if you're reading this. If you can motivate people to do good then thats golden! But I have to admit some are not affected by motivational talks. :-)

If John C is indeed a member of MTC, I would appreciate perhaps a PM from him... B)

  10. it's actually John Calub who makes lots of money by luring people to attend his seminars. lol.

any seminar about money, how to make money, how to get rich, will always attract people.

I've spoken to some of the volunteers who attended the Firewalk bootcamp and they did attest that the seminar worked for them. I just wonder if "planted" lang sila...

  11. Hello all,

I just attended the first seminar of John Calub, How to Become a Money Magnet, and found it quite practical. I've secured a slot on the next seminar, which is Attracting Wealth Workshop, and considering the Firewalk bootcamp.

Tanong ko lang if anybody has attended the Attracting Wealth Workshop and Firewalk Bootcamp? How was it? Did it result a financial breakthrough as John Calub promised? I'd appreciate some comments.

    Thanks

  12. Naalala ko ang Manang Damo with their song Pautang Ina...

RJ UR na ang nag-carry ng frequency ng 105.9, playing Rock music in the same mold as LA.

  13. "....That was the last ABC Championship tasted by the Philippines....

And on to the Olympics! ........................and that proved to be the last..........."

Not exactly, we would still win one more ABC- in '86 where we had naturalized players in Dennis Still and Jeff Moore. (That will have to be the subject of a new thread I guess)

I suddenly remember SEA'81 championship between the Philippines and Malaysia. Nagkaron din ng sapakan, with our bad boys Itoy Esguerra, JB Yango, and Ricky Relosa roughing up and brawling the Malaysians.

There's some parallels between the ABC'73 and SEA'81 brawls. Unang una was that it was held here in Manila with the Rizal Colosseum as the venue. Magpapasko din nun, with our country trying to regain the respective crowns...

It was during my early teens na witness ko ang nakakakilabot na rumble. The game was Crispa-Meralco sa MICAA early 70s. I remember yung announcer nuon saying "There's a madman in the court". Sigaw ng sigaw sa mike. Ang tagal nagka awatan. Duguan nilabas yung dalawang referee. Cruz was a dentist at that time sa aming neighborhood. Ban for life yung dalawang players. (pero re instated later dahil sa pakiusap ng then Basketball Association of the Philippines head honcho Lito Puyat. Sayang daw galing pang national team.

Hi bro, another senior citizen here too :-)

I think you must have remembered the brawl between Shin Dong Pa and our own Tembong Melencio during the '73 ABC finals? I've been trying to look for it sa youtube pero di ko makita.

Now, those were the good old day!!!

  15. I came across an interesting article from Mr. Quinito Henson about the issue of imports playing in the UAAP/ NCAA basketball. Here's excerpts of the article:

    Imports or no imports?

SPORTING CHANCE By Joaquin Henson (The Philippine Star) Updated July 25, 2010 12:00 AM Comments (11) View comments

The commercialization of college basketball may lead to a situation where the disparity between the haves and have-nots will seriously impair the balance of competition particularly with regard to the recruitment of imports.

At the moment, three schools in NCAA seniors basketball are “armed” with imports – San Beda College with 6-7 American Sudan Daniel, Emilio Aguinaldo College with Indonesian Ke Wei Lim and Jose Rizal University’s Cameroon pair Joe Etame and Nchotu John Njei.

The link to the full article is as follows:

Actually, the article got me thinking about the possibility of having non-Pinoys in the other UAAP/ NCAA sports such as swimming, volleyball, table-tennis, etc. My worry here is that this could set up some sort of invasion of foreigners e.g. African athletes in track and field in collegiate sports. Pano na ang Pinoy talents nyan? But on the other hand, having foreign athletes could up the level of the competition, thereby pushing Pinoy collegiate athletes to excel further.
