  1. Nike Free Trainer 7.0 is better than Nike Free 7.0. You must also take note that training in Free should be light. Free shoes are for strength training especially on your lower leg and on your foot grips. Free shoes are generally worn by american football players during training season. If you aim to train heavily, look for regular training, crosstraining shoes.

Thanks. If I may ask, what's the main difference between the two shoes (Free Trainer 7.0 and Free 7.0)? I just checked on the 'net (EastBay.com, to be specific) and they had the same price. :/ If it helps, I'm planning to do jogging lang... I'm not a gym rat... yet.

I'm trying to do as much research as I can before buying, because I still don't ahve my own source of income (as a college freshman), so I'm trying to maximize my investment. Thanks.

  2. the shoes cant do it alone. special muscle training is required to achieve maximum vertical leap. there are self-help videos in the market that can teach you the training required to add springs on your hop.

Hmm. Good point. In that case... aling shoe ang mas ok na pang-train sa pagtakbo (since momentum plays a big part in jumping), Nike Free 7.0 or 'yung Nike Free Trainer 7.0?

  3. I was finally able to settle on a shoe: the Nike Air Force 25. Thank you to everyone who gave their input. :) My family was on its way to Fontana when we decided to drop by Star Mills (near SM Pampanga, if I'm not mistaken) to check out All Flip Flops. Out of curiosity, I decided to stroll around and look at the stores. Most had some kind of sale so I took a look at an athletics + fashion store. I saw the Air Force 25 there. So I went and reminded my dad about the money he borrowed from my college fund and how I retired my trusty Nike Presto pair last month, so he obliged. At first, I wanted this pair:

but there were none in my size (10) so I had to settle for this one:

After the purchase was done, we decided to eat at Greenwich. I opted to take another walk to let the food sink in, so I went to the second floor and saw a Nike store there. I wasn't certain, but I decided to walk in and see if they carried the Air Force 25 with the size and colors (white/varsity royal/midnight navy) that I wanted (palibhasa Atenista pa rin kahit nasa U.P..) Ironically, they had one pair in stock. Grr. The irony was delicious as was reflecting on the value of waiting.

Then just now, I checked out the prices online and saw that the pair I had (black / black / chrome) was slightly more expensive. And I realized it looked better.

The lesson? "Bad luck" is just a point of view. :P

And like a parent wanting to show everyone pictures of their newborn babies, here's Sexton Hardcastle (the name I gave my shoes, in honor of Edge/Adam Copeland, one of my favorite wrestlers. Yes, I'm a sentimental person):

To everyone who replied to my questions about finding the best shoe for me: THANK YOU. :)

Now, to work on my game.

  4. Get a shoe with good ankle support so those mid to hi-tops w/ ankle straps are definitely tops. The shoe should also have good heel cushioning.

That makes sense. Any examples? I'm in the dark when it comes to shoes... only now that I'm playing again (ah, those wasted years. :()

It depends on your taste. Kasi ako ang binibili ko ung magaan at makakapagbigay ng protection sa akin sa injuries. Usually Nike fits the bill for me. Hindi lang ako nabili ng high cut usually mid cut. Medyo OT its a good thing you still play the same position. When I was in high school, I also played Power Forward despite my height of 5'6. I would go up against guys who are 5'10 and 5'11 and most of the time I would be able to grab the rebound. I had to switch to the guard position in my senior year of high school. Eversince Pt guard or Off guard ang nilalaro kong position sa basketball.

Taste? May sipon ako eh. :P Ok ba 'yung Hurrache 2k4? :/

I was thinking of trying to buy this one, because it'd be useful off-court as well. And it isn't the usual Nike/addidas/Reebok/And1. What do you think?

Kaunti lang kasi kaming matatangkad sa batch namin sa sportsfest, so I had to stay as a PF. And I like it. :thumbsupsmiley:

  5. Didn't see any shoe threads when I searched, so I thought this would be a nice place to get advice from Pinoys about the touchy subject of shoes.

Anyway, to get the ball rolling.

I'm playing basketball again (surprise!) I still play as a power forward despite my height (5'5). I focus on rebounding and passing, which makes me some kind of point guard as well. I just wore out my old Nike pair (laceless blue-and-white with the webbing, I forgot the name na.) Which brings me to my question:

What shoes do you guys think would best suit my needs?

Thank you in advance, I'd love to hear some opinions, especially from the basketball players out there. ;)
