  2. qi balls, dim mak, laser beams etc ist all crap ..u can fight with any style as long you train right

if u wanna join mma u have to train like that if u just wanna selfdefence then find a school that

teaches how to strike...and more importantly how to increase ur awarenes..u can avoid fights with a good awarenes..

    my martialart is Hung Kuen

Hung Gar Kuen was the martial art of the real Wong Fei Hung,no,not what Jet Li did in once upon a time in china..Hung Gar is not acrobatic..its low kicks, strong punches, take downs....right now the only school for hung gar in the Philippines is in Manila chinatown..also one of the first schools that dont care if you chinese ,filipino or from jupiter anyone with a honest interest is welcome...soon there will be also classes in the TaeKwon Do center of MonsourDel Rosario in the Fort....

  4. Hi all,

I practive and teach Hung gar Kuen, this is a southern chinese martial arts..

My lineage goes back to wong Fei Hung and further actually it goes back to fukien shaolin temple.

The style developed outside of shaolin though. My Teacher is Mark Houghton in hongkong whos a student of Lau Kar leung.

Lau Kar Leung is also a famous movie director and choreographer...my sibak, means uncle , is Gordon Liu (Lau Kar Fei)..hehe hes not my biological uncle but in chinese terms he would be my uncle..

In my youth I also practised Judo,Karate, kickboxing but from age of 14 I only practised chinese martial arts ..thats 23 years..

We practise now in Chinatown kong han athletic club..This is a very old school for Ngo Cho Kun but the head teacher let us train there as well since Im good friend with him...

  5. Lau Family Hung Boxing association

    a nice weekend to everyone

  6. I have a question as a foreigner who lives in Manila,is chinese martial arts not popular here ? and Im not talking about the modern wushu,Im talking about the less fancy kung fu...where u have to train hard to understand the concepts and stuff..

but where u also gain benifits like health,strength,self-discipline and effective self defence..

  7. Hi,

In the heart of chinatown opened a new, small gym for Hung Gar Kuen(southern chinese kung fu style),this is the style of Wong fei Hung. Training includes power/strength,conditioning,combat,weapons,selfdefence,forms etc. no flashy modern wushu..

The teacher is german and represents Lau Family Hung Boxing from Hongkong...see www.martial-club.com or www.friendster.com/hungkuenph ... open for ANYONE with a honest interest...trainingtimes 6 days a week!

  8. Hello,

Im new here..actually Im half new in the Phils, originally from Germany i came here last year september and now staying for good..I spent a lot of time living in HK before..now residing in Manila..anyway Im teaching and practising Hung gar kuen and taiji..Hung Gar is a southern chinese style..famous through the movies about Wong Fei Hung (i have to tell that Jet Li didnt perform any Hung Gar in the once upon a time in china series)..hung gar can be seen in the old shaw brothers flicks by Lau Kar Leung..Lau Kar Leung is my grandmaster...you can find more infos on my homepage www.martial-club.com

Hung Gar emphasizes on bridgearm and strong stances, lots of applications since we use our forearms a lot..

Im having a hard time to find material for a wooden man or even finding a wooden man (like in wing chun)..

well,I PM´d one of the members now and hope for a posetive reply...

looking forward for good disscussions on any kind of martial arts
