    nice anecdotes, I remember following events at the time and one of General Fidel Ramos' "frustrations" was that while General Ver was under investigation for the murder of Ninoy Aquino, Marcos installed Ramos as "Acting" Chief of Staff, never actually giving him the title or position officially,

     

    Speaking about warlords of the north, I remember as a very young man being in Ilocos (Fort Ilocandia) during Irene Marcos' wedding to Greggy Araneta...

     

    the day before the wedding, I remember looking at the parking lot and I was convinced every single mercedes benz in the country at the time was parked in the parking lot, and Imelda arriving in in this huge white PNR tourist bus, trailed by about 30 cars, ambulances and uncountable motorcycles,

     

    looking at the ocean, mega yachts were docked and Lear Jets taking off and landing at the nearby airport, helicopters ferrying VIPs to the venue...

     

    then watching the ultimate of all "APOs" of the north... FM with Bonget, surrounded by bodyguards approximately thier same height, touring the Hotel with a sense of authority one simply cannot buy,

    and the photographers going nuts just snapping away at them, it was impressive for this kid at the time, and I'm sure a sight like that will never be duplicated in these modern times...

     

    yeah i believe u bro. coz not many people refer to bongbong as "bonget"

    well, i really liked the andy fields - donnie ray koonce tandem. they dominated the field back when the open conference was played with two imports at a time.

    Yeah, nakakatakot hahaha. ang dami na sigurong nasirang la mesa nuon sa kababagsak ng kamao. He was a nationalistic freak. There was this proposal of his na palitan ang mga bus and jeepneys ng "karitela bus" para daw walang pollution. Yung dumi ng kabayo puwede daw kunin pang fertilizer. Prophetic comments. Patay na siya, no? May mga gumagaya pero hindi na sumikat.

     

    at walang mtrcb o kbp....mura kaliwat-kanan!

    hehe naging malaking tsismis ito nung 70s.

    the story was the real Bongbong was killed in a fight with some European prince/monarchy that allegedly got Irene (or was it Ime?) pregnant. It was all hush-hush kunwari.

     

    And the Bongbong that appears here in Manila was actually a "cousin" who underwent plastic surgery to resemble the real one.

    Yung fake na Bonbong was maliit daw compared to the real one na matangkad.

     

    kalat na kalat itong balitang ito but since it was the height of the martial law years, people talked about it in whispers wary of the metrocom being around at baka madampot.

     

    This prompted ferdie to pass a law, or presidential decree called "Rumor Mongering"

    Kung may pauwing OFW or balikbayan sa Pinas, mga taong hindi lang magpapadala nang mas mabigat pa sa pinag usapan, magbibilin pa nang kung ano-anong pasalubong pabalik o magpapabili ng pasalubong hindi naman mag aabot ng perang pambili. Pag tinanggihan mo, masama pa ang loob sa iyo. :thumbsdownsmiley:

     

    hehehe kasama na sa buhay ofw yan. hirap tanggihan. i usually alot a day or two to deliver/meetup for padala. scratch my back, ill scratch yours, bigayan lang. buti nga madami na ang correspondent banks for remittances, dati padala $ kaya doble ingat.

     

    pinoy time, parang PAL, always late.

    true. Wharfedale Diamond 9s sound very close to the B&W 600 series. I cant figure out why B&Ws cost so much more.

     

    wharfedale diamond 9s are bang for the buck best buys. made in china

     

    b&w 600s series3 - sound much bigger and imho better tho they are quite expensive. series2 were made in UK, im not sure for series3.

     

    for home audio stereo/home theatre - i use b&w.

    Naglalaro pa kami sa baha nuon pero ngayon may disease na galing sa urine ng mouse that causes death kaagad. Hay naku, iba talagang ang 70s back! I do recall nga na kapag umulan nuon sa amin sa Dapitan near Albert Elementary School, ang ingay ng mga "kokak" ng palaka. Now dengue na ang result ng ulan. Also, nuong 70s H-fever ang scary thing, same sa dengue ngayon.

     

    may palakang kokak na kumakain ng kitikiti /lamok. sarap manghuli ng tadpoles/butete. meron pa non fireflies /kulisap at tutubi at makahiya plant sa tabi-tabi. i dunno if those younger generation know what a makahiya plant is.... :upside:

    rainy season- dati ok ang baha, nakikita mo ang tinatapakan mo- hindi kulay itim tubig kanal. may isda (gurami) pa na lumalangoy sa tubig baha. alala ko may naligaw na pagong pa nahuli namin.

    hindi kasi hindi ako sumasali sa ganyan.......pero maraming ofw na kagaya ko ang nabiktima

     

    at kung may pera ako, di pa rin ako papadala sa greed o magpauto para sumali sa pyramid scams

     

    pera nila un, buhay nila un,,, they risked so suffer or enjoy the consequences
