  1. Occasional heavy excercise while sleep deprived is fine ... however making it a habit isn't really a good thing because sleep is needed for proper recuperation after pushing your body hard. Note that "proper recuperation" isn't measured in days ... I am refering to volume of work over weeks or even months.

That being said, chronic lack of sleep is bad in itself, with or without excercise.

Personally I feel a bit lethargic if I do cardio with little sleep, but it doesn't seem to make a difference when I lift weights.

  2. Well I guess this is it for Chuck Lidell then. According to white, its definitely the end of the line for him. Not only did he need a win, but he also needed an impressive win. And he got knocked out. There will be many heavyweight champions after lidell but only a few of them will even match his legacy. He has got nothing to be ashamed of, unlike tito ortiz, this guy never ducked anybody. I dont think evans will even match this guys popularity.

Oh well goes to show that you cant stay at the top forever

Yeah, Chuck was a warrior. I think there was even one time back in the UFC 30++'s or so where a championship fight for him got cancelled because his opponent got injured or something, and he went and fought a non-contender as an "exhibition" just because.

However his fighting style relies heavily on quickness and toughness, things that are the first to go with age. Sorta like how serve and volley players (reliant on quickness and reflexes) tend to go downhill after 26 years while baseliners can go on playing near the top of the rankings well into the early to mid 30's. If Chuck had expanded his game to wrestling and submissions ... who knows. But I'm sure he did as much for the popularity of the sport as anyone else, TUF included.

  3. I AGREE WITH YOU 'Solitude00' SAW YOUR PIC. OF BLUE LABEL IM COLLECTING THOSE ONE AS WELL ASIDE FROM WATCHES IM STILL LOOKING FOR THE RED LABEL THEN OK NA, GOT ALREADY THE BLUE, GREEN AND THE BLACK LABEL.

REGARDING NAMAN SA TOPIC ABOUT ROLEX KUNG WORTH IT FOR ME HINDI LALO NA NGAYON DAMI REPLICA ALAM NYO BA DITO SA EUROPE WELL KNOWN PEOPLE BUY REPLICA INSTEAD OF ORIGINAL KASI THEY HAVE GOOD PRACTICAL REASON. FIRST SINO MAGLALAKAS NG LOOB MAGSABI SA KANILA NA FAKE OR REPLICA ANG WATCH NILA WALA DIBA. PERO DEPENDE PARIN KUNG HOBBY NYO MANGOLEKTA OK MY ADVISE IS KUNG MAY PERA KAYO SIYEMPRE YUNG ORIGINAL NA. PERO KUNG PANG OPISINA LANG OR CASUAL I WOULD RECOMEND RADO CLASSIC WALA SANA MAGAGALIT!! COZ ITS A GOOD THOUGH WATCH, I LIKE ROLEX WATCH KASO NGA PARA SA AKIN HINDI WORTH IT PERO I RESPECT ALL YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT THIS TOPIC.

Bro, in Europe I think Red Label is only used for cooking, if at all - I don't recall ever seeing it there (though Germany and Spain pa lang napuntahan ko diyan). Hehehe ... dito sa Pinas wala pang 500 pesos yan sa Convenience Store.

Para di off-topic ... I'd recommend an old Tudor if you really want a "Rolex" for cheap. Hehehe. Class A replicas are expensive din (these are the ones that use Swiss generic ETA movements and are built to look like the real thing) ... USD 1,000 and up - a fraction of the price of a Rolex but still pretty damn expensive for a fake. Hahaha.

  4. true

Fedor is the smartest fighter out there, smarter than Couture and Machida I guess

never gets rattled even in the face of extreme danger (reference FedorXFujita, FedorXRandleman, FedorXArlovski)

and always has the perfect game plan

pretty dangerous if you ask me

And that Randleman fight ... to me it highlights how effing DURABLE Fedor is. That suplex Randlemen hit him with was great and Fedor landed practically on the base of his skull, full bodyweight from the textbook suplex ... we've seen fighters KO'd with less impact. And Fedor ... 15 seconds later he scrambles on top of Randleman, and less than 2 minutes later ... all over via submission. Damn.

  5. BA is actually one of the most under-rated supplements in the market today.

I always have a serving ready for my volume or RE days and it never fails me :)

Cool. :) Am not really into supplements (except for the 1 scoop of Whey post-lifting) since I don't think I am "advanced" enough to for them to be truly worthwhile - I've always thought of supps as something you use when you're already down to 12% BF and want a little boost to drop the extra percentage point or so. Hehehe. BUT ... I was really impressed with that small dose of beta alanine. Good stuff indeed.

  6. Dunno if this is off-topic but I tried beta alanine for the first time earlier and liked it. Muscles gave out when fatigued but I didn't experience the "burning" sensation that normally accompanies a high rep workout. At this point I can't say if it'll really allow you to crank out the extra reps ... but if the reps are limited by the lactic acid build-up ... then it seems to be very helpful.

  7. And the authentication fee now is 1000pesos & The Rolex watch stays with them for 1week

ONE week?! WTF ... it won't take more than an hour to check the hallmarks for authenticity. Does it really take that long to determine if the watch has been reported stolen or otherwise have some ownership issues? :thumbsdownsmiley:

    Nice pictures btw.

  8. wow ok pala rolex! thanks for the reply

For the second-hand watch market in the Phils ... a late 90's model (10 year old) Rolex in excellent condition with box and papers generally goes for approximately 75-80% of what you would pay for a brand-new model today. I guess appreciation would only occur for limited edition models. Just like luxury cars, not all Rolexes are created equal.

The same watch without box and papers would probably go for 35-40% of brand new only. You can get some nice looking authentic Rolex Oyster Perpetuals for 60K to 75K from the gray market. Of course, with no box and papers, it's your lookout if you want to bring said watches to the Rolex service center - if the original owner reported it as stolen, you may have it confiscated. Best practice for a no box / papers watch is to have the watch authenticated at the Rolex center before purchase. Be prepared to pay for the authentication fee. Hehe.

  9. Tailored cotton khaki's from my suki. P1.2K each, feels like something that costs 4 times more (minus the label but who cares). For work I use pure wool stuff from the same source.

  10. Anyone know of an auto detailer that performs major windshield scratch removal? I've got an approximately 2" x 2" big fricking X on my windshield. It's not yet down to the laminate and it's still water proof and all, but it looks terrible.

I'd really rather not have to replace the windshield itself ... medyo mahal na rin yon. I'm hoping there's a detailing shop that can do this ... none of the general purpose repair shops / car wash shops in my area offer this service.

    Thanks all. :)

  11. Company: IT Consulting Firm

Position: Manager (Sales and Account Management)

Salary: Approx 2M a year all in, including bonuses

Perks: HMO Coverage, networking opportunities, resume boost (technical skills involved are in-demand globally) EDIT: EXPENSE ACCOUNT!!! (medyo limited nga lang comparatively speaking)

Cons: Stress stress and more stress - having worked abroad I can say that you work less abroad for the same position. Abroad your job description is well defined. Here, you're a jack of all trades.

  12. Using McAfee Enterprise Edition on my work laptop and Norton Internet Security 2007 on my personal laptop. McAfee totally failed to even warn me of the installation of XP Antivirus 2008 malware even though that stupid malware program had been out for about a month and a half prior to infection. For anyone who's been infected with this, I used Malwarebytes to painlessly remove this without doing msconfig or bothering with registry editing.

So far, my personal laptop has been infection free. I like Norton ... it works quietly in the background ... although when I check my firewall logs it shows quite a few attempted security breaches.

  13. Again failed to edit my original post ... seems there's a window in which you can edit and I spent too much time writing the following quick impression:

Knowledge Sharing huh ... have looked at SAP's recently acquired Business Objects Business Intelligence suite and found it a far superior product to the old BW BEx Analyzer that we've been using for some time. Though BW is still better in performing ETL loads from predominantly SAP ERP OLTP systems, Business Objects is much better in dealing with non-SAP data sources. Also, for reporting flexibility capability, B. Objects allows you to maintain an persistent class of data objects that you can easily reuse across different infocubes, whereas in BW you'd have to create these info objects for every new infocube which greatly increases the time required for the generation of new reports.

As for the UI itself, anyone who's ever used BEx or the Web Application Designer will tell you that its a pain in the butt to use. The B. Objects UI is much more user friendly. Hard to describe without screenshots, so just take my word for it, or take a look at the new product yourself.

Bad news is that B. Objects requires a separate license. Sigh ... that's SAP for you.

  14. Interesting. I'm an IT manager for one of the largest users of SAP in the Phils and am also a certified (no longer practicing though) SAP BW consultant. I wonder if I could find potential hires here ... funny thought but ey, in the age of Social Networking ...

Although given the number of views this thread has generated, I don't think there are too many SAP consultants or wannabe consultants around.

  15. Entrepreneurship is an almost sure way to make 1 million for someone who is hardworking, creative, daring, has good business sense, and ideally knows the right people. Unfortunately not everyone has these traits. And for those experts who say earning money is so easy (you know, those motivational gurus who say something like, don't adjust your lifestyle to your income - instead figure out a way to increase your income so that you're living the lifestyle you want) ... its like saying its our own fault that we're not making money. Fricking platitude. :P

The stock market is a crapshoot. For everyone who made a million here, there are lots more who lost money. Especially in the local stock market where market capitalization is so low that well connected and well funded parties can manipulate certain stocks to a certain degree.

I made my first million in savings the "traditional" way working with large corporations. And yes, I started in 1997 with a starting salary of P8,500 per month ... small even by the standards of the day. I spent approximately P100,000 that year on living expenses which meant my savings from that salary were ZERO and I probably had some debts on my credit card ... hehehe.

But the thing is, even though my salary kept on increasing as I moved up the corporate ladder ... my living expenses increased at a much slower rate. If I used to be happy eating a P250 buffet once a month to reward myself, I didn't suddenly develop the urge to have that buffet on a daily basis. I didn't have the sudden need to buy designer clothes since I had gotten used to wearing my good quality generic stuff. I got drunk on Tanduay Rum and San Miguel Beer - I didn't have to drink Black Label every night simply because I could. The car I used in college (given by my parents granted) I continued to use well after I could afford to buy a new one. And so on.

After around 6 years of steady career advancement (I had changed jobs twice in that span of time) I had that first P1M clear in various financial instruments even though my Net Income after tax was still less a little less than P1M. All savings - I didn't do web PTC's, I didn't do stocks, I didn't buy a franchise, I didn't do multi-level marketing. I'm sure I could've earned more if I had worked harder outside the office, but hey, I'm a lazy bum and wanted to enjoy my non-office time. I just posted this to show that you can still earn that million the old fashioned way working a 9 to 6 job. And though I still lived at my parents' house at that time, I had been contributing around P20K a month to household expenses so I think it evened out when compared with someone who had to live independently.

Conspicuous consumption is BAD. Just because you're earning a certain amount doesn't mean you need to spend it all. As everyone else is saying, get into the habit of saving. Even with interest rates low, its better than blowing it on luxuries and good times. That brand new Fortuner, Rolex watch, or iPhone 3G that you just bought depreciated by 20% just by bringing it out of the showroom. And your nights out in Pegasus ... sure the memories may be priceless, but that doesn't fill your bank account. Sadly.
