Does anybody here joined the 2006 Bankee National Gundam building contest? Visit the participants works shown at SM ayala GF, where the winners will be announced this Sunday (Aug27).

I would have joined if I got rid of my cough more early (it doesnt really go well with topcoats, spray paints, and strong putties) :goatee: .

Cool!!!

I've wanted to get into scale modeling ever since I was a child... Especially Gundam models...

I remember having bought 1:60 (or was that 1:80) models of Heavy arms and a pirated model of Serpent Custom. Kaso parehong nasira at naiwala ng autistic kong nakatatandang kapatid.

Napansin ko lang. Masyado yatang malutong yung plastic na ginamit nila. I've bought the model at SM North and expect it to be original. What would be the best way para ma fortify ng kaunti yung model?

Ano nga pala gamit mo sa pagpinta? Air brush? How much would that cost and saan makakabili? Or rather, saan ba makakabili ng mga craft tools at magkano naman...

Share your experience with us.

We have much to learn.

Congratulations KKK!

Saw that model on display at SM Makati. Was that your only entry? I saw several using the same stand as yours, one of which was a Zaku that you posted pictures of during assembly.

Great work!

you could try to look on the net certain stuff on how to paint etc...

some helpfull sites like on gamesworksop (its a warhammer site but you can get tips on how to detail, paint etc) or you could try to ask a person on a hobby shop on how to help you get started... for me i always try to have a back up kit just in case i see that it didnt go the way i want it... practice, practice, practice like the old saying rome wasnt built in a day...

1st question: pano po pag smooth out ng edges sa mga pinagtanggalan? i used to have an idea na to sand it but iba na yung color eh.. or do we really have to sand it then just bring back the color?

thanks! newbie lang in this hobby po

You can sand it using a grade 1000, 1500, or 2000 sandpaper... but I suggest you use grade 2000... then of course you would have to repaint the part... some people even use a primer before painting it with the color that they like... but if you're not into that work and you're being lazy... I suggest you use a cutter to even it out...

this is what i normally do...

i first spray them with a base or primer

then i sand the edges that stick out...sometimes when i get creative i use a blowtorch for modifications

then i paint the model

this works for me not sure if you like the idea

just my two cents

Iwata airbrushes are one of the best around... and they are quite pricey too... now about using canisters... I dont really recommend them since the pressure that you get from them is limited and you might end up with a Gundam that looks like its in a paintball battle instead of an actuall mech battle...

I found a nifty tutorial in youtube and this might be useful to you... and by the way... there are no sub-titles :D

err budget po sa iwata? hehehe i call it diwata :)) is it better dun sa tamiya brand??

i notice that most of the people custom their colorway for their model.. how u get inspiration to get such nice results?

I saw somewhere that the Iwata Deluxe set that I'm hoping my GF's sister would buy costs around $300+ and since its gonna be bought in Japan I'm hoping it would be cheaper... the Tamiya airbrush is actually good but I read in the Scale Modelling thread that the hose oozes in time so I suggest you just replace the hose... its actually good for its price... it sells for about 5K in Lils at SM Megamall...

For custom colored Gundam kits... some people just fancied to try a color combination they had in mind... but to do this you MUST have a template of your kit and color it using crayons or colored pencils to see if it would look good (thats what I do anyway)

Its all up to your imagination... my advice make it simple... and easy to do... and more importantly... it wont make your Gundam looked like it was recycled

try ko pa copy yung mga iwata brushes na yan sa mga fabrication shop baka sakali makamura hehehehhehehe hmm il try to post a pic of a certain gundam d-hell "gothic" yata customized na sya. i dunno is its a casted figure.. looks so great

You can get a picture and specs from their website... and tell me how it worked out... but I still prefer the actual manufacturer's product rather than an imitation... :P
