javameister
Admit it, you sometimes get the itch to floor the gas pedal when an opportunity presents itself. Whether you drive an unaltered stock model or are into souping up your wheels there's always the innate curiosity to see how far you can set your personal speed best. And get out of the experience alive in the process. Imagine yourself out there in the expressways or on a deserted provincial road. No visible hazards, the concrete or asphalt feels good beneath you, the weather is reasonably clear and your chariot is ready and primed to eat up the kilometers fast. Before you know it the speedometer is climbing, climbing, climbing.....100...120...130...140...150...160...170 and the tachometer is still far from red-lining. Still plenty of clear road ahead. So, how fast have you gone? Where? And with what? What went through you mind? 1 Quote Link to comment
javameister
I'm really a safe driver. But when I get the chance to let it out I go for it. But I haven't really pushed it all out. I'm not in a contest or race with anyone; I just want to find out about and deal with the rush that comes with going fast. The most I've ever done was 150kph southbound on the newly paved NLE around midnight. I felt my Lynx could do more but I decided to save that for another time. I'm sure one fifty is routine for a lot of drivers out there with better rigs so why don't you tell your story? What's it like doing 200kph or higher? There are lot of highway stretches around Luzon where you can go all out. Know of any? Quote Link to comment
Podweed
I once went past 200 kmh. Car was a Lexus so I didn't really feel it. I was vacationing in the U.S. a few years ago and was on my way to Miami on I-95 (or was it a turnpike? I forget). The needle was at 120 and it took me time to realize that was in mph, in a 75 mph zone no less. Still, I kept up with the herd, so to speak, and only slowed when the radar alerted us to the presence of a prowl car. If you want to go really fast, drive on an autobahn, behind the wheel of a big German sedan. U.S. Interstates don't even make those cars breathe hard. Quote Link to comment
pedro_del_norte
i went 198kmh (needle pointing on line before 200 mark) in my ford lynx on STAR highway (from batangas). the i felt i could have touched 200 if it werent for that stupid corolla swerving lanes!!! that was pretty scary on a more reckless side  i drove from manila to kalinga-apayao (about 450KM) in 6.5 hours  normal travel time is 10-12 hours. pretty reckless and stupid i guess, but nonetheless fun. i guess we all have our "road hazardous" behaviours from time to time, but escalating gas prices is taming be up a bit i rarely see 100kmh nowadays  just remember, drive defensively and responsibly :mtc: Quote Link to comment
Google
hmmm. sa oto, max ko na 140. once ko lang ginawa yun, ayoko ng ulitin pa. pero i have hit 160 kph on my Zuk 1000 cc. Quote Link to comment
Nutgar
On my Galant VR4 using the stock 4.9 gear ratio, 235 kph. but I switched ratio to 5.4 so top speed 210 lang pero mabilis dumating dun @ 18 psi boost. Pero fastest I ran was 155 MPH using my Suzuki GSXR 1100 in palmdale california back in 1987. strong vibration at 120 mph ( 200 kph) but when I passed the 130 mph barrier everything smoothened out. Tunnel vision came in @ 135 mph. It was a trip. Quote Link to comment
Nutgar
Here in manila i was able to top 235kph with my galant VR4 AWD. Nothing notable to talk about as the skyway was pretty much free. But fastest experience was in Palmdale California back in 1987 wherein I topped 155MPH using my Suzuki GSXR 1100.At 120 mph (200kph approx) the bike started to vibrate tremendously, common sense dictates to ease off but there was still 4000 of excess rpm available to pop, so I popped it some more and as I hit 135 mph the bike smoothened out and this is where the tunnel vision came in. I was able to hit 155 mph. Could push a little bit more till about 160 or 165 mph but I felt the tires heating up cause slippage started to come in from the rear so I backed off. let me tell you, it was a trip. 1 Quote Link to comment

Flash Sentry
180 km/h in an EVO 6 was still being prudent at that time, now i regret it na, sana binilisan ko pa, tsk <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 180 kph on an Evo VI is very prudent. Honda Civic ESi, 195 kph along Skyway. Would like to see how far I can go with the new engine, pero I don't think I'd like to go past 150 kph. Normal driving for me along highways is between 120-150 kph. Quote Link to comment

canman
gone about 250 kmh during a bike trip through USA on a CBR600F2. Just remembered there is a lot of wind and you have to duck your head under the fairing. A lot of wind noise and I learned when you travel at high speeds for a long time you need to wear ear plugs. After trip my ears were ringing for a day or two. The high speed was not that exciting as I thought. Quote Link to comment
LostCommand
I've tried 145 km/h...on an empty 10 wheeler cargo truck. Engine was not yet at redline. Engine was a 21 liter displacement diesel V-engine, direct injection, 12 pistons, twin turbos. 7 forward gears, non-synchromesh. Three axles. Two passengers. Cagayan Valley road. Change oil of that engine thing was 45 liters. Horsepower? Do you really have to know? Well, it can pull a 50,000 lb combined truck and cargo load up Kennon road, while ticking over at 2,500 rpm only. Thats about the weight of 20 common honda civics. With the yuppie driver inside, complete with his Nokia. Do the math. Dry stopping distance, if some car decided to cross and you had to slam the airbrakes to max-max-max settings, is measured in hundreds of burned-rubber meters. Patay si car. Wet stopping distance...lets not talk about that. Talagang patay si car. To all you guys trying to cut into a speeding bus or truck, boys, sa tutuo lang walang na akong control sa preno lagpas nang 120 km/h. Remember that the 2,500 pound cast iron engine blocks of these trucks are properly positioned to impact right into the windscreen of a 2,000 pound flimsy Jap car...tingin mo may gagawin ang airbag at ang seatbelt natin? Kay San Pedro na lang tayo mag-complain. Sarap mag power trip. I was only twenty five years old then, 7 long years ago. Now, I have more patience. But I still occasionally drive one of our trucks in our trucking business, for old times sakes. Quote Link to comment

Regulator
In the Phils , maximum that i went to far is 180kmh. Don't dare to go faster ( can't go faster anymore ), was driving at skyway in a Starex. Abit shaky and floaty. I can hear wind from inside. heheh. In Malaysia , I went once at 220Kmh in an Audi A6. Well that trip cost me 2 tickets , caught me driving at 170Kmh and 140Kmh. Autobahn Germany , with a RUF modified Porsche i went up to nearly 280Kmh. Of course it was a private road for car testing. Just came back from Australia , tried on Nissan 350Z which i borrowed from my fren who owns a car shop, went along coast at 260Kmh. Of course each driving experince is different. It can be more scarier driving on Edsa at 90Kmh when there is alot of cars. Quote Link to comment
TeeUp
i wish all those who passed away, or maybe lost special people due to reckless street driving can post here and tell their story. i am sure there were far many than all of us combined. perhaps, we can all stop encourage everyone else from bragging about their road antics. i just want to remind everyone that many people out there would want to be in our shoes driving those expensive, high speed and luxury rides. risking losing all those, our lives and those that we endanger is not worth the "rush". dickyboy
200kph in my 2.4Camry (stock). did it in NLEX around 5-530 sunday morning. was coasting at around 160, saw a clear stretch and just punched it, i had the ect on so it just jumped up. I would have gone faster if it weren't for my chicken heart. Quote Link to comment
