Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League

There are so many basketball aficionados that had hesitations on the league that will form by Senator Manny Pacquiao. But despite of this, wow, it becomes emerged on new heights by opening it only last week of January featuring the teams from the cities within Luzon and NCR area, for the meantime. Pacquiao has a clear vision on how this league will run by deploying some formats (of course, there are some changes) that will benefit the fans who are looking for new flavor of Pinoy brand of basketball.

Right now, in their official Facebook page, it records a total of 60k likes and followings.

I'm hoping for the best on MPBL. They should more rely on their motto " Liga ng Bawat Pilipino" to make every city happy.

By the way, here are the pioneer cities incorporated with their respective sponsors:

  • Bataan Defenders BaiShipping

  • Batangas Tanduay Athletics

  • Bulacan Kuyas Ligo Sardines

  • Caloocan Supremos Longrich

  • Imus Bandera-Glc Trucks & Equipments

  • Muntinlupa Cagers Angeli's Resort

  • Navotas Clutch Big J Sports

  • Parañaque Patriots Yakimix

  • Quezon City Capitals Royal MNL (Manila is proper pronounciation)

  • Valenzuela Classic Yulz

Honestly, I'm worrying to PBA right now in terms of crowd attendance.

Maybe this is the proper time to shift to city versus city rivalries in order to have this league stay alive a little longer.

MPBL is an opened-eye for the basketball fans.

Maybe Marcial should check this kind of setup.

maganda yung konsepto... pero ang tanong lng eh can this league survive? ilang taon lng ba itinagal ng MBL 4 years due to financial problem nagisa-isang nalagas yung mga teams!

If this league wants to live long, MPBL should learn lessons from MBA's mistakes.

Kudos to Pacman for financially backing up this up-and-coming basketball league.

IMHO, ang naging mali ng MBA noon is they tried to compete with the PBA instead of trying to discover talents from their home province to prepare them for the big league which is the PBA

Lots of Ex PBA players here.

Gary David plays for Bataan

Val Acuna plays for Batangas (currently flawless 6-0)

What's also good about this league all their venues are full packed! Unlike the PBA nowadays
