Suggest A Good Read...

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, just finished reading two Dan Brown's... like it a lot... :thumbsupsmiley: although i must admit that im not much of a fan of the suspense thriller type... im more into the mitch albom style... sublime, easy and soothing to the soul... much like a book you'd read while in a hammock, under a shade of tall tree, enjoying the last few days of summer... any suggestions guys? tuesday's and five people you meet in heaven were splendid, im looking for the same types... =)

nonetheless if you a good book of any type or theme in mind, then feel free to suggest them... it would be helpful if you could say a little something about the book, without spilling too much of course... :P

iv read atlas shrugged. and the fountainhead. both by ayn rand.

they are not easy reads but if youre patient and appreciate "think" books then youre gonna like them.

on the other hand, if youre in the mood for a thriller, mystery type read, try the rule of four. its really

im also reading (at the same time as rule of four), lemony snickett's 8th book as well as cryptonomicron ... both are quite interesting as well.

suggest ko find a 2nd hand copy of either one first (usually book sale has it)... tinan mo kung magugustuhan mo...

i also suggest u dont read it tuloy tuloy. i interspersed reading rand w/ other "light" books kasi the books are not only intellectually demanding, they are a bit emotional too. mabigat sa dibdib some parts of it....

then if you like her style, saka mo bilihin her other books :)

but reading ayn rand is really an experience!

easy and soothing to the soul? try robert fulghum's books, esp. the 1st one: "All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten". easy read, inspirational, it's a collection of essays taken from the author's life experiences. you will learn to appreciate the things we take for granted, the simple things in life. the author's a pastor or something like that.

meron din palang ibang tao na nagbabasa ng more than one book at the same time. akala ko ako lang.

para di OT, whenever i have nothing to read, i always come back to my all time favorite, the catcher in the rye.

41 songs by Nick Hornby

I don't know most of the songs listed and I tend to question his choice of those that I know but Hornby states his case about the power of great songs convincingly.

Killing Bono by Neil Mc Cormick

U2 chased the rock and roll dream and reached the stars. Neil Mc Cormick, a close friend of the band, did the same but ended in the muck instead. This is his story.

The Motorcycle Diaries by Che Guevara

This book chronicles the young Guevara's misadventures across South America and doubles as a travelogue.

The Bromeliad Trilogy: Truckers, Diggers and Wings by Terry Pratchett

ganun? haha bravo bravo! :thumbsupsmiley: two books at a time lang ako, and even then, minsan lang nangyari un...hehe im not really your fast reader type... i tend to internalize and visialize every description the author makes of a situation too much... minsan nga i stop reading and try drawing it on paper para makita ko ng maigi... hehehe weird no? thays why i try to stay away from suspense thrillers, not that i dont like them, kaya lang they're so fast paced, i tend to brush through intricate details just to find out who the culprits are...hehe

ang disadvantage lang napapabagal ang pagbasa ko.

im a fast reader kasi but when i shift books ... i have to backread a bit lalo for involved stories like a suitable boy.

yun lemony snickett... lol dredrecho na lang yun... actually im almost done with that one... i wont add a fourth book muna because cryptonomicron is sobrang madetalye...

yeah i know what you mean bout visualizing... ako naman i write parang mind maps... un central idea asa gitna tapos un mga events surrounding it are arranged all round the middle... bsta parang outline of sorts...

hahaha madaya ka magbasa ng thrillers :P
