knoll1234
vegas as a destination lately is good. according to reviews by THEIR OWN AMERICAN peers, here is what is current as of aug of 2010. 1. vegas was number three fun city to be in, in america compared to NYC, miami etc.2. vegas is number one stressful city in america. probably because of over 14% unemployment, the highest.3. the best buffets are the following order: 1. bellagio, 2. wynn 3. M, 4. paris this is according to their surveys!!!4. prices of hotel rooms are much much lower from 2006-08. all you need to do is book and usually they come with perks.5. gamble less, buy more. tables and machines are super tight. remember these mega casino resorts need their money back. though buy stuff at factory stores like the premium shops at caesar's palace, or off strip factory stores at discounts galore.6. crime is just like any american city. don't be fooled by their statistics. just be aware of your surroundings. if it doesn't look good or not right, it probably is, so avoid it. so just get lucky in vegas!!!!! one pinoy I know, was just waiting for his companion. got a wrong change, he was given half dollar coins instead of quarters ( about fifteen years ago),,, so played a half-dollar machine instead and won 1.7M usd dollars!!! guess what after fifteen years...got 2 houses, two big cars, got a much much younger partner. just living life, before that he was just a dish washer!!!!! Marvelo
If you are not a high roller, you should read the website Cheapo Vegas. It reviews rooms, food, and entertainment and gives information such as minimum bets at table games and how high you have to play to earn comps. I prefer to plan trips to Vegas based on where I want to eat and where I want to gamble. I like the Las Vegas strip the most. The most convenient hotels to stay at are at the intersections where there is a casino on each corner. The intersection of Tropicana and the Strip has walkways connecting New York, New York, Tropicana, Excalibur, and MGM Grand, with a tram connecting Excalibur to Luxor and Mandalay Bay. kanski
don't you just love free parking? oh, and the ride on top of the stratosphere is the 2nd best thrill (right after winning in the slots) in vegas. Quote Link to comment
Marvelo
Almost all parking is free at casinos and hotels in Vegas. Even downtown, you can have your parking validated in the casinos so you don't pay. The problem with the Stratosphere is that there is not much nearby. Quote Link to comment
Sakristan
Dont forget to go to the Luxor to complete your Vegas experience. I remember theres a Filipino buffet restaurant in Vegas for 10 or 20 bucks ata. Forgot the name pero sikat to sa mga Pinoy Quote Link to comment

Bugatti Veyron
don't you just love free parking? oh, and the ride on top of the stratosphere is the 2nd best thrill (right after winning in the slots) in vegas. It's called the Big Shot. Quote Link to comment
Bugatti Veyron
Just don't visit Las Vegas in summer. Temperatures are unbearable. Can reach 115 degrees Fahrenhiet during the afternoons with extremely low or no humidity. Feels like you're being cooked inside. Â If you happen to be there during summer, you can take a side trip to Mt. Charleston. Weather there during summer is like being in Baguio. It's only about an hour's drive from downtown Vegas. Â Other sites worth visiting outside Vegas include Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire, and much further, the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Bryce Canyon in Utah. Quote Link to comment
BallBreaker
Stayed in Henderson for a few days which is just a few mins away from The Strip. My family lives here and it surprised me that the residential district is very laid back as opposed to the 24 hour frenzy that is Vegas. Regretted touring the Hoover dam at high noon because it is sooo DAM hot! Air conditioning is a must in this state! Be careful of taking pics with the impersonators lining up the Strip. They're not for free! Quote Link to comment

They're not for free!I once got charged by Santa Claus to have my photo taken with him in NYC. I think this happens a lot not only in the US but in many parts of the world. When we were in Egypt many years ago, a cop offered to take a photo of my family and I. After he took the photo, he charged as US$10!! So whenever posing with someone or if someone offers to take your photo, be very careful. Hinde kasi uso sa atin yung maningil para lamang kunan ng retrato. Quote Link to comment

bisdakboy
enjoyed hotel hopping along the Strip late afternoons when it is not so hot; there's Filipino buffet restaurants outside the Strip (forgot the area). Quote Link to comment
tazmanic
Dang I just saw this thread now. Went to Vegas last year and stayed at Circus Circus, due to budget constraints. Didn't enjoy that much kasi bulok yung hotel and too damn hot outside. Walked from the hotel to the other end of the strip with my 7 year old son. Sobrang layo na umiyak na anak ko sa pagod haha. Mad Damian
Haven't been to Vegas in 5 years. Last I was there, there was talk of an extentded elevated tram along the say trip.Meron na kaya yan.Last I heard, the taxi group were against it. I usually stay in Treasure Island or MGM or the Venetian so the walk won't be as tiring. But then again, just ended up being drunk by late afternoon.Just sat and do sports betting. Best time pa rin kapag New Year's Eve. Nothing like it in Vegas.Just don't let a complete stranger swig from your champagne bottle in the streets. Yuck!!! Quote Link to comment
