Nemesis
I just finished reading several books that will be made into movies in the near future. Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game & Ender's Shadow will be made into a single movie due on 2006. If you guys enjoyed the Artemis Fowl series and Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers, you'll enjoy these books. When I read them, it took me only a day and a half to read these books, they're that good. Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is already in production and is due out next year. One of my favorite books of all time. Hilarious. I just hope the movie version contains all the wit and humor as the books. Oh and of course, Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code is also being made by Ron Howard no less. I'm not expecting much from this movie since I didn't enjoy the book and I don't have that much respect for Ron Howard as a filmmaker. Blah. 1 Quote Link to comment
hint-of-lime
I've heard Disney currently has C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia in the works. I wonder if they will be making it as each book into a film (like Harry Potter) or if they will just make a movie of one book - The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe for one, being the most famous of the Chronicles, plus the fact that it is the book already in the works as a movie (see Disney's version of C.S. Lewis' Chronicles). They are all very lovely books for a quiet afternoon read, and a childhood favorite of mine! I hope Disney does them justice! Quote Link to comment
dj_flip03
I believe Nicholas Sparks' "The Notebook" was shown in the US already. Although I havent read the book yet, I believe they'll give justice. Quote Link to comment

I'm totally in love with the Hitchhiker series (particularly MOSTLY HARMLESS). Too bad Adams died before seeing his creation come to the big screen. Quote Link to comment
Nemesis
I know! I'm still contemplating on naming Hitchhiker my favorite book of all time. If I don't read anything better by the end of the year, it's going straight to the top of my list. You know who they chose to play Arthur Dent? That guy in Love Actually who played the porn star! Coolness! Quote Link to comment
Zerreit
I would love to see Nick Bantock's Griffin & Sabine Trilogy on the big screen. As well as Jostein Gaarder's Solitaire Mystery. They already made Sophie's World into a French Film and it was so amazing. Quote Link to comment
Chi-Chi
As I said in the other thread, I've read Nicholas Spark's "The Notebook" a couple of times. It's such a great book! I bet the Hollywood movie will be good but wont be as heart touching as the book. Quote Link to comment

naked_angel
Tuesdays with Morrie The movie version of Tuesdays with Morrie came out before the book itself became very popular. I remember seeing this in HBO about 2-3 years ago. Jack Lemon played Morrie and Hank Azaria played Mitch Albom. I'm looking forward to watchine Lemony Snicket's Unfortunate Series of Events Quote Link to comment

I wish them luck with the movie adaptations, because The Last Battle will be really difficult to do since it brings back everyone from all the other books. Even if they do one (film) every couple of years, it will take them at least 14 years to finish the series. They'll need to hire new actors to play the ones from Wardrobe. Quote Link to comment
