fry
I never thought I'd say this, but Safari for Windows works pretty damned well!! It loads pages A LOT faster than Firefox. With Safari, most pages load in less than a second (no exaggeration), while pages load in 4-5 seconds in Firefox. It's pretty ironic considering Safari is actually crap in OSX, yet it works so well in Windows. Quote Link to comment

Samhain13
i like mozilla firefox, only problem is when you open several tabs the memory eaten grows exponentially. That's a known issue with Firefox 2.x and it's currently being fixed (in not totally fixed already) for the version 3 release. I've tried the version 3-betas and it works a lot faster. Fry, you can make your Firefox speed up considerably. Go to about:config. Search for "network.http" Set network.http.pipelining to true, network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to a bigger number like 20 or 30, and network.http.proxy.pipelining to true. You might also want to set network.dns.disableIPv6 to true. But yeah, Safari is a good browser as it takes advantage of the KHTML/Webkit engine developed for Konqueror. The new Gecko engine for Mozilla-based browsers like Firefox will be great also. :thumbsupsmiley: Edited January 24, 2008 by Samhain13 Quote Link to comment

johnlove
Safari works great! I love the 'private browsing' (to activate: click edit, private browsing) feature. Protects me from the prying eyes of my wife & kids. Thanks fry. Edited January 28, 2008 by johnlove Quote Link to comment

fry
Safari works great! I love the 'private browsing' (to activate: click edit, private browsing) feature. Protects me from the prying eyes of my wife & kids. Thanks fry. I'm glad you find it useful! Though it's only beta, there are a few bugs here and there that you have to live with. Like certain items for example don't show up in pull down menus properly. I also sometimes get a "page cannot load" error when it loads just fine in Firefox. But for all it's worth, the Safari browser seems to be promising. Quote Link to comment
cool_as_ice
yeah safari beta 3 is good.. am using it right now..i like yung feature nya na "reopen all windows from last session" under history. minsan nga lang pasaway kahit i-right click mo to open in new tab..nagpapop-up sya sa new window.. ..under observation ko pa din yung firefox 3 beta.. pwede kasi i-save yung previous session just like in opera who needs IE7??
