Guest Riveria
It's a realization. Yes, I'm almost there. Quote Link to comment
LostCommand
I am not of your world. I live in a world of perspex, titanium, and 8-18 grade steel, of the two thousand degree agony of cracker furnaces and the spine-tingling hundred thousand horsepower scream of slick symmetric turbines running at supercritical speeds, powering the plant with the energy of 60 Ferraris, (with 20 more in safety reserve), driven expertly by operators with but a local high school degree. I live in a world of higher maths and white electronic beauty, all black or white, all yes or no, unsullied by the mortal imperfections called “maybe” or “perhaps”; of thousands of pages of billiard table-sized precision blueprints and diagrams, and surrounded by volatile aviation gas, and other stuffs far more flammable, pooled together in steel storage tanks of hundreds of millions of piss-yellow explosive liters apiece; of red sparking metal and thunder breathing machines, all sprawled out over hundreds of acres, visible from outer space. I live in a world of two hundred billion pesos of direct foreign investments, more money than many governments, monitored by bank after bank of sleepless, flickering, touch-activated and voice-enabled control screens you never thought existed outside of Star Wars, much less in this 3rd world country, all these embedded deep inside concrete, windowless, bone-chillingly cold command centres, manned by shifts of tough, trained men operating in sharp precision, unflinchingly obeying instructions from their deeply tanned, deeply confident, deeply arrogant lead engineers, all guarded by the Army no less; our combined sweat, metal and brains transforming daily into three hundred million pesos of fuel sales, wet and stinky and ready – every day, as in every single f*cking day the heavens have made. For we run 24/7/365 non-stop, no Sundays, nor Xmass's, nor holy weeks – pumping out 300,00,000 ways to serve our poor unfortunate countrymen, both the common jeep drivers and honest whores as well as them laughing hyenas that run this town, all of whom find themselves stuck together in this goddamned backward country. I am not of your world. Nor my several other worlds, some exceeding old or exceeding violent, be anything familiar to you. We are of different disciplehoods, of estranged faiths. But we can try to appreciate each other, perhaps, as one could also appreciate those blazing meteorites from outer heavens that land onto the remote deserts, hidden from all but the most intrepid. Or the completely lost. LC Quote Link to comment

jewelofthenile
I just realized that I complain about being busy too much. I should be thankful, because right now, it's much harder to focus and keep my mind quiet when I've got nothing to do but just wait. Quote Link to comment
sklardrog
"Nothing strengthens the judgment and quickens the conscience like individual responsibility. Nothing adds such dignity to character as the recognition of one's self-sovereignty; the right to an equal place, everywhere conceded--a place earned by personal merit, not an artificial attainment by inheritance, wealth, family and position." - Elizabeth Cady Stanton 1 Quote Link to comment
