So how do you avoid relatives popping on your driveway for thanksgiving? - book a hotel room a couple of miles away from home. Make sure you’ve locked your house tight and pack your bags in your car and just Drive! You’ve hated turkey anyway. You just want the peace and quiet and the humming sound of the space heater. You just got to do it.

Everybody knows that "tol" derives from "utol" which itself comes from "kaputol". But I've always wondered who ever thought of using "kaputol" to refer to one's sibling? And it dawned on me, "kapatid" is ka-patid, with "patid" meaning snap or break. Swapping "patid" with its synonym "putol" you come up with ka-putol. I don't know maybe I'm slow and just getting this late, and everybody else already knows this, my bad. 🤷‍♂️

Amazes me how Pinoys are so clever in playing with words. Our Pinoy slang vocabulary seemingly is constantly increasing with Pinoys always playing around with the words they use, always coming up with something. Even beki speak finds its way in everyday use.

How come most filipino immigrants who are working in blue collar jobs in the U.S. are embarrassed to be seen by other filipinos ? Pare parehas lang naman tayo nagpapadala ng pera sa Pinas, huwag nyo ikahiya ang trabaho ninyo. Obvious na obvious e.
