sickness
Predator (remake):"Sin City" helmer Robert Rodriguez is readying a bunch of film projects, among them is plans to relaunch the "Predator" franchise for 20th Century Fox. Rodriguez made the announcements yesterday at a press conference at his Texas-based Troublemaker Studios where he was on hand for the signing of a new state film incentive. Rodriguez has also scripted "Predators," a film that will bring back the dreadlock-sporting alien hunter first seen in the acclaimed 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger hit "Predator". Rodriguez also plans to direct the futuristic action thriller "Nerveracker" which he penned for Dimension Films, a "Sin City" sequel, and a film based on the classic cartoon "The Jetsons". Robinhood:Ridley Scott Casts Matthew Macfadyen as The Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood. Shooting for Matthew will occur in May and June. Unstoppable:Denzel Washington is negotiating to star in the Tony Scott-directed drama "Unstoppable" for 20th Century Fox. Mark Bomback's script, loosely inspired by a true event, has Washington playing an experienced engineer who jumps in a locomotive with a young conductor to chase down a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. Inception:Joseph Gordon-Levitt is coming on board Christopher Nolan's "Inception," the filmmaker's thriller for Warner Bros. that stars Leonardo DiCaprio. A veil of secrecy exists over loglines, though the project, which Nolan also wrote, is described as a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within "the architecture of the mind." It is known that Gordon-Levitt is taking the role to have been played by James Franco, who bowed out over scheduling issues. He would play an associate of DiCaprio's character, a CEO-type. Marion Cotillard is already on board as DiCaprio's wife, while Ellen Page is playing a grad student and DiCaprio's sidekick. Cillian Murphy is also in the cast. Antichrist:The movie which stars Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg as a grieving couple who retreat to ’Eden’, their isolated cabin in the woods, where they hope to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse… The film is set to debut at this year's Cannes and based on the theory that it was Satan, not God, who created the world. A Nightmare on Elm Street (remake):The latest actor to join New Line’s A Nightmare on Elm Street remake is Kellan Lutz who’s had a modest career outside of his role as Emmett Cullen in Twilight, and the currently filming New Moon, but it appears unless any of the Twilight actors make it big outside the franchise they will be saddled with the label for life. Lutz joins the previously announced cast including Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker, Rooney Mara and Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger. Lutz will play a popular school jock, while Dekker is an alpha male trying to get back together with his girlfriend. Mara plays a girl who can’t wait to leave town after graduation and Gallner takes over the role played by Johnny Depp in the 1984 original. The remake of the 1984 horror classic directed by Wes Craven aims to keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself. Filming is slated to begin shooting May 5 in Chicago for a April 16, 2010 release. Wow, teenage version ng X-Men. Hehehe! Iron Man 2:Two more actors have signed up for Marvel's Iron Man 2, with one returning for the sequel and another joining the production for the first time. Huston has been cast as Poseidon in "Clash of the Titans" opposite other Mount Olympus power players Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. Sam Worthington, Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton, Jason Flemyng and Alexa Davalos also are in the cast. The retelling of the Perseus myth, directed by Louis Leterrier ("The Incredible Hulk"), began shooting Monday outside London. Legendary is co-producing and co-financing the project. Thunder Road's Basil Iwanyk is producing with Kevin de la Noy. Wall Street 2:20th Century Fox has signed Oliver Stone to return as director of the sequel to his 1987 hit Wall Street. Shia LaBeouf ("Transformers" films) is negotiating to join Michael Douglas, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Gordon Gekko in the original film. Allan Loeb wrote the script. Edward R. Pressman is back as producer. Gulliver’s Travels:Amanda Peet has joined the cast of Fox’s Gulliver’s Travels. The movie, a modern retelling of the Jonathan Swift story, stars Jack Black as Gulliver, a free-spirited travel writer who, while on assignment in the Bermuda Triangle, suddenly finds himself a giant among men when he washes ashore on the hidden island of Liliput, home to a population of industrious, yet tiny, people. Bioshock:Universal Pictures has put the brakes on "Bioshock," the Gore Verbinski-directed live action adaptation of the bestselling Take-Two Interactive vidgame. The picture was in pre-production, but the studio has halted that effort--and let some production staff go--as Universal and Verbinski figure out a way to make the film at a more reasonable budget. Sources said that the John Logan-scripted picture was gearing up to shoot in Los Angeles, but that changed when the budget rose to the vicinity of $160 million. U and Verbinski are looking at alternatives like shooting in London as a way to pare costs. The plotline takes place in the underwater city Rapture, where a pilot crash-lands near a secret entrance and becomes involved in a power struggle. Upon the film's near completion, McG set up a special early screening for Schwarzenegger, whose last starring role before his Sacramento adventure was "Terminator 3." The politician was not overwhelmed and told The Times: "I wasn't sure who the Terminator was. I don't know if there is one or if he's the star or the hero. These are the things that determine the success and how strong the movie will be." McG urged the governor to wait until the film was closer to final form. Then, just last month, the giddy politician confirmed that he had given the movie his best-possible blessing: His visage will appear on-screen, thanks to some CGI special effects. We're bringing credibility back to 'Terminator.' " Edited May 3, 2009 by sickness Quote Link to comment
sickness
Transformers: Revenge of the FallenWhen the story begins, the Autobots and the military have been waging a secret war against the Decpticons. As more of the giant robots continue to resurface, though, it becomes apparent the Transformers have been part of Earth's history for longer than they'd led mankind to believe. One group of bureaucrats even womders if the Decepticons are only appearing because of the Autobot presence. Desperate not to leave Earth undefended, Optimus Prime turns to Sam and asks him to become a human advocate, someone who will convince mankind that the Autobots should be allowed to saty. Sam refuses to believe he can help, though, wanting to go to college and live a normal life - as normal as possible with the strange thoughts and visions that have haunted him since being exposed to the All Spark's primal energies two years earlier. Alas, Sam's refusal will have harsh consequences for himself, the Autobots and possibly the entire world. The Decepticons fallen leader, Megatron has been resurrected and brings with him an ancient evil from the Transformers own history. http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/2728/transformers20505a.jpg http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/5408/transformers20505b.jpg http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/915/transformers20505c.jpg Iron Man 2:If you’re a long-time fan of Iron Man, then you’re more than acquainted with Justin Hammer, the white-haired, over-the-hill industrialist who serves as Tony Stark’s rival. But the character’s getting a bit of a redesign in the sequel to Iron Man, with much-younger Sam Rockwell, star of the upcoming summer flick Moon, taking on the role.“They wanted to go with a rival for Tony Stark who is closer to his age, and make him American,” Rockwell explained to MTV Movies. And while Hammer won’t be suffering the effects of old age in Iron Man 2, that doesn’t mean that he’ll be flying through the air to do battle with Stark’s Iron Man either. “My character is the brains, not the brawn,” said Rockwell. Thor:Empire recently caught up to Kevin Feige, Marvel Studio's president of production, and asked for news on the highly buzzed about Marvel film properties: Thor and The Avengers. On Thor, Feige had this to say, “[The director, Kenneth Branagh] put together some spectacular animatics already for our first action scene. We’re digging into the second and third now, and we are just embarking on a rewrite of the draft." According to Feige, we can expect to hear the first casting announcements for Thor within the next month or so, though the studio has yet to cast the roles of Odin, Loki, or the female lead. As for The Avengers, the script is still in the very earliest stages with Zak Penn -- who co-wrote X-Men: The Last Stand -- working on an outline and looking to other Marvel films, like Iron Man and Captain America, to set the tone and pace for his own work. Deadpool:According to the trades, Fox has thrown into development a spinoff featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in X-Men Origins: Wolverine by Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds is attached to reprise the character for what for now is simply being called "Deadpool." Deadpool is known as "the merc with a mouth," a character that under Reynolds lived up to his billing in "Wolverine" until the end, when the movie deviated from the comic book persona, imbuing him with several superpowers and sewing his mouth shut. The trades also report that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. The character also was disfigured in "Wolverine," though it's unclear at this time how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds' handsome mug. The project is out to writers. Fox considered a "Deadpool" spinoff early in "Wolverine's" development process, which is why it cast Reynolds. The actor was brought back in the month before the movie's release to shoot one of two "Easter egg" scenes that appeared after the end credits. The scene showed Deadpool live, though when last audiences saw him, he appeared to be dead. Burlesque:Christina Aguilera will make her screen debut for Screen Gems in "Burlesque," a contemporary musical that Steven Antin will direct. Antin wrote a script that was revised by "Erin Brockovich" scribe Susannah Grant. Aguilera will play an ambitious smalltown girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club that appears to be right out of Bob Fosse's "Cabaret." Donald De Line will produce. Pic will shoot late this year. The story is adaptation of Rick Riordan's best-selling fantasy-adventure book series that includes the world-saving quest of Poseidon's half-human son, Percy, in modern America. Catherine Keener, Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd, Melina Kanakaredes, Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson already have been cast. Only the role of Ares, God of War, is yet to be cast. Chris Columbus is directing. Faster:Dwayne Johnson is in final negotiations to star in Faster. In the movie, Johnson will play an ex-con bent on avenging the death of his brother who was murdered several years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist. Phil Joanou will direct from a script by Joe and Tony Gayton. The Irishman:Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken and Val Kilmer will star in The Irishman to be directed by Jonathan Hensleigh. The mob drama will be based on the life of mobster Danny Greene (Stevenson), who controlled Cleveland’s criminal underworld during the late 1970s. Walken will play loan-sharking nightclub owner Shondor Birns. Kilmer will portray a Cleveland cop who befriends Greene. The story was inspired by the Rick Porrello book “To k*ll the Irishman: The War That Crippled the Mafia”. Helsleigh also wrote the screenplay. Wheelman:Paramount Pictures is accelerating its efforts to put "Fast and Furious" star Vin Diesel back behind the wheel of a fast car. Studio has set John Singleton to direct and Lorenzo di Bonaventura to produce "The Wheelman," a live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft vidgame "Wheelman." The videogame launched last month, with Diesel as its main character and the game's producer. Diesel will play an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past. Rich Wilkes wrote the script; the writing team of Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell did a rewrite. Di Bonaventura will produce with Diesel and his One Race Films partner Samantha Vincent. Neighborhood Watch:Will Ferrell is in talks to topline the comedy "Neighborhood Watch" at 20th Century Fox. The story chronicles an urbanite's journey as he moves to a suburban community, joins the neighborhood watch and uncovers a large conspiracy. Jared Stern wrote the screenplay and and David Dobkin ("Fred Claus," "Wedding Crashers") is in negotiations to direct. Shawn Levy and Tom McNulty will produce. Mama:Guillermo del Toro is in negotiations to produce the horror feature "Mama" for Universal Pictures. Andy and Barbara Muschietti are writing the English-language script based on their acclaimed Spanish-language short with Andy directing and Barbara producing. The Muschiettis are currently working on the script. The plotline for the full feature is being kept under wraps, but the short centers on two girls, Victoria and Lily, who are on the run from a ghostly woman who appears to be their mother in a Gothic home. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark:Katie Holmes will star in "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," a thriller for Miramax Films that was scripted by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Del Toro is producing with Mark Johnson and the film will be directed by del Toro protege Troy Nixey. The film will shoot this summer in Melbourne as a "Guillermo del Toro Presentation." "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" is based on a 1973 ABC telepic about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend and discovers they are sharing the house with devilish creatures. Nixey, a comicbook artist, is making his feature directing debut. Del Toro sparked to "Latchkey's Lament," a Nixey-directed short that captured the tone del Toro wanted for "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark." 10A/10B:Marisa Tomei and Liv Tyler will topline indie psychological thriller "10A/10B," produced and financed through Christopher Mallick's Oxymoron Entertainment. South Korean director Chul-soo Park will helm the adapted script of his original 1995 film "301/302." Film will explore the relationship and consequences that result when a culinary perfectionist, portrayed by Tyler, and an actress with a failing career, played by Tomei, become neighbors in a loft apartment building. Mallick and Intl. Production Co.'s Dan Frisch and Philip Waley will produce along with Floyd Byars and Unjoo Byars. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde:Universal is developing a modern retelling of the classic novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," with Keanu Reeves attached to star and Justin Haythe, writer of "Revolutionary Road," penning the script. Nicolas Winding Refn is in negotiations to direct the project, titled "Jekyll." It is being produced by Erwin Stoff and Red Wagon Entertainment's Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher. Robert Louis Stevenson's tale about a doctor who scientifically develops an evil self has become so pervasive in popular culture that the phrase "Jekyll and Hyde" conjures the idea of a split personality. The story has been translated to the screen and stage dozens of times, with several deviations including comedy, kids ("Jekyll and Heidi") and gender (1995's "Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde"). The story has seen modern iterations as recently as 2007, when the BBC aired a miniseries with the story set in the present as Hyde ran amok in London. Plot details for this "Jekyll" are being kept locked in the laboratory. Then, it was revealed that Joel Silver has recently brought on executive Andrew Roma to bring the Amazonian princess to the big screen. sickness
He-Man and Masters of the Universe:Rookie screenwriter has the "Power" over the Masters of the Universe. The trades are reporting that first time writer Evan Daugherty has been hired to do a page one re-write for Silver Pictures and the WB. John Stevenson ("Kung Fu Panda") is attached to direct the adaptation of the show, which followed a blond warrior named Prince Adam who, when uttering the magic words, "By the power of Grayskull -- I have the power," turned into the heroic He-Man. He and his allies -- Battle Cat, Man-at-Arms and Orko -- defended their planet Eternia from the evil forces of Skeletor, who tried week after week to conquer the fortress Castle Grayskull, which imbued He-Man with his powers. Warners sees the big-screen version as a gritty fantasy and reimagines Adam as a soldier who sets off to find his destiny, happening upon the magical world of Eternia. There, Skeletor has raised a technological army and is bent on eradicating magic." Valentine’s Day:An all-star cast has joined the romantic comedy Valentine’s Day to be directed by Garry Marshall including… Julia Roberts as an army officer on leave from Iraq on a flight to Los Angeles. Bradley Cooper, who shares the flight with Roberts, as a gay man whose lover is a closeted football player. Ashton Kutcher as the owner of a flower shop who proposes to his girlfriend only to realize he is in love with his close friend. Jessica Alba as the girlfriend. Jennifer Garner as the good friend. Shirley MacLaine as Roberts’ mother, who reveals to her husband that she had an affair once upon a time. Anne Hathaway as an assistant working at a talent agency who is dating a mailroom assistant. Jessica Biel as an unlucky-in-love publicist who has no date on Valentine’s Day. Conan the Barbarian (remake):While Nu-Image/Millenium wants "V for Vendetta" helmer James McTeigue to takeover directorial duties on the upcoming "Conan the Barbarian" remake, Lionsgate favors three other potential suitors. The names that have made the mini-majors shortlist include French helmer Christopher Gans ("Brotherhood of the Wolf," "Silent Hill"), acclaimed British genre helmer Neil Marshall ("The Descent," "Doomsday"), and German helmer Marcus Nispel (the remakes of "Friday the 13th" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"). Production kicks off on August 24th in Bulgaria and a star is still being sought for the titular warrior. The Losers:The Losers have reportedly found their nemesis. Jason Patric (The Lost Boys, Narc) is being lined up to play the villainous mastermind Max in the Warner Bros. adaptation of the Vertigo comic book. Sylvain White will direct for Dark Castle. The cast includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) as Clay, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek) as Aisha, Columbus Short (Quarantine) as Pooch, and The Wire's Idris Elba as Roque. Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) and Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) have been rumored for other roles. The Secret:Universal Pictures moves forward with Dark Horse's The Secret. Sources buried deep inside HOllywood have revealed that the Dark Horse Horror Comic Book "The Secret" has been option and is currently in development at Universal Pictures. Scott Milam, who is writing Bedlam for RKO Pictures, has been hired to pen the screenplay. Published in February 2007, The Secret is a chilling coming-of-age mystery from Dark Horse founder Mike Richardson and Eisner-nominated artist Jason Alexander (Damn Nation; The Escapists). The Secret tells the story of Tommy Morris who has been invited to party with the social elite of Franklin High and maybe even hook up with the girl of his dreams. But when a prank call turns sour, Tommy gets much more than he bargained for. Universal Pictures is also developing Emily The Strange and The Umbrella Academy under the Dark Horse first look deal, a three-year production and distribution agreement that establishes a studio home for all of Dark Horse’s creative properties. Thomas' U.K.-based Recorded Picture Co. will co-produce with Nakazawa, who produced the foreign language film Oscar winner "Departures." American Gladiators:Johnny Ferraro, creator of the "American Gladiators" TV franchise, is bringing a live-action adaptation of the property to the big screen. The film will be based on the TV show that first aired in 1988 and has been on the air every year except one during the past 20 years. Most recently, NBC aired a primetime installment in 2008. Former Legendary Pictures chief marketing officer Scott Mednick is producing American Gladiators. The goal is to create an action story that takes place inside the world Ferraro has created. Several of her stepchildren mysteriously disappeared as well. Bass co-wrote the script with Eva Mayer whose family purchased the farmland and discovered some of the love letters. I Saw What You Did (remake):Joel Silver's Dark Castle is finally getting rolling on I Saw What You Did, a remake of the 1965 William Castle-directed I Saw What You Did and I Know Who You Are!. The big news is that the film will reteam director Patrick Lussier with screenwriter Todd Farmer (Jason X), who collaborated on Lionsgate's My Bloody Valentine 3D. The original Castle pic, which starred Joan Crawford, was based on the Ursula Curtis novel "Out of the Dark" and revolved around two girls who innocently pass the time making prank phone calls to unsuspecting people until they call the wrong guy. Pic will be produced by Silver, Andrew Rona and Steve Richards. Dark Castle will finance and distribute through Warner Bros.
