The Pink Panther 2:Steve Martin will reprise his role as the bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the modern-day farce. John Cleese will play chief inspector Dreyfus in the film. Sorrority Row (remake):When five sorority girls inadvertently cause the murder of one of their sisters in a prank gone wrong, they agree to keep the matter to themselves and never speak of it again, so they can get on with their lives. sickness
The First Avenger: Captain AmericaMarvel Studios has tapped Joe Johnston to suit up and direct its superhero actioner “The First Avenger: Captain America.” Johnston is readying a redo of “The Wolfman” at Universal Pictures, which bows in April. Marvel is looking to launch a new franchise, starring Captain America to follow successful launches of Iron Man and a reboot of The Incredible Hulk. Pic bows May 6, 2011, with Paramount distribbing. A thesp has yet to be cast as Captain America, who will also co-star in “The Avengers,” also hitting screens in 2011. Pic will introduce Steve Rogers, who volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the patriotic super soldier known as Captain America. Marvel Studios’ prexy Kevin Feige will produce, Louis D’Esposito, Stan Lee and Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel will exec produce. Johnston, who previously helmed “The Rocketeer,” “October Sky” and “Jurassic Park III,” is also developing “The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud.” X-Men Origns: MagnetoPurported plot details have emerged about director David Goyer and 20th Century Fox's X-Men prequel Magneto. "The storyline will heavily involve Professor X, the wheelchair-using X-Men leader. That character was a soldier in the allied force that liberated the concentration camps. The professor meets Magneto after the war and while they bond over the realization that they are alike in their special powers, their differences soon turn them into enemies." This storyline is in keeping with Uncanny X-Men #161, a flashback issue that revealed the origins of Xavier and Magneto's friendship. At a hospital for recovering Holocaust victims in Haifa, Israel, an ambulatory Charles Xavier discusses a potential evolution in man and the world's reaction to such a discovery. The early seeds of the philosophical battle between Professor X and Magneto are sown in a very frank discussion that precludes an encounter with HYDRA. The two essentially come out to one another and while Charles is foolish enough to believe he has discovered a new ally for the future, Magnus knows too well that their lives are taking separate paths. Akira and Ninja Scroll (live-action):Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company has been picking up classic heavy-hitters from the world of Japanese manga and anime — most notably “Akira” and “Ninja Scroll” — to develop into live-action feature films. While the news of “Ninja Scroll” is still fresh on the blogs, “Akira” has already made some moves in Hollywood, being picked up by Warner Bros., scooping up Gary Whitta to write the script, and there’s even rumors that Joseph Gordon Levitt will play the role of Tetsuo. “We’re waiting for the final draft of the script [for 'Akira'],” DiCaprio told MTV. “I’m a big fan of Japanese anime — that and another project called ‘Ninja Scroll’ we’re trying to get developed and made into a movie, and I know there a lot of loyal fans out there of the project and die-hard fans, so we’re going to try to do the best job we possibly can and we’re not going to make the movie until the script is in the right shape.” However, for those of you out there hoping to see DiCaprio on Kaneda’s souped up motorcycle in “Akira” or munching on rice balls a la Jubei Kibagami in “Ninja Scroll,” don’t hold your breath. When asked about what his role will be in these properties, DiCaprio made it clear that he’d be producing, and as for as any interest in acting: “No, not really,” he responded. Star Trek:An exclusive first look at the Enterprise The Karate Kid (remake)s:Columbia Pictures is back in the dojo with a new version of the 1984 hit "The Karate Kid," which has been refashioned as a star vehicle for Jaden Smith. The film will be produced by Jerry Weintraub (who launched the original franchise) and Overbrook Entertainment's James Lassiter, Will Smith and Ken Stovitz. Will Smith, who is the 10-year-old actor's father, co-starred alongside Jaden in his feature debut, "The Pursuit of Happyness," which Overbrook and Escape Artists produced for Columbia. The script is being written by Chris Murphy, and the film will shoot next year in Beijing and other cities. While the new film will be set in that exotic locale, it will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor. China Film Group Corp. will co-produce in China. The younger Smith, who next stars in "The Day the Earth Stood Still," is a martial arts practitioner. The company has acquired rights to the next three novels in Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster vampire series and has hired "Twilight" scribe Melissa Rosenberg to pen scripts based on "New Moon" and "Eclipse," the second and third books, respectively. A fourth book, "Breaking Dawn," has not attached a writer. "Twilight," which revolves around the relationship between an average teenage girl, Bella, and a vampire, Edward, in a rainy Northwest town, has been generating huge buzz ahead of its Nov. 21 bow. Summit, which has been eager for a franchise as it rolls out its distribution slate, hopes that the movie's built-in teen and early-twentysomething audience will get an added boost from older filmgoers. In "New Moon," Edward leaves Bella, sending Bella into a depression and a friendship with another werewolf. In the third book, "Eclipse," that relationship triangle evolves, while evil vampires begin to pursue Bella. "Breaking Dawn" pushes the plot further with a marriage between Bella and Edward. The film stars Nicolas Cage. Kick-Ass the comic the film is based on is written by Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr., follows a high school dweeb who attempts to reinvent himself as a real-world costumed superhero named Kick-Ass who seems doomed to failure because he’s not athletic or coordinated until he runs into real bad guys with real weapons. http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/3356/kickass1pp2.jpg World War Z:Max Brooks World War Z zombie novel which is being adapted into a feature film finally has its director. Marc Foster director of Quantum of Solace has been tapped to direct the paramount project. The really interesting part here is that the production company doing the movie is Plan B and is owned by Brad Pitt. The rumor is that Brad will star in the feature film. Brooks tells the story of the world's desperate battle against the zombie threat with a series of first-person accounts "as told to the author" by various characters around the world. A Chinese doctor encounters one of the earliest zombie cases at a time when the Chinese government is ruthlessly suppressing any information about the outbreak that will soon spread across the globe. The tale then follows the outbreak via testimony of smugglers, intelligence officials, military personnel and many others who struggle to defeat the zombie menace. Despite its implausible premise and choppy delivery, the novel is surprisingly hard to put down. The subtle, and not so subtle, jabs at various contemporary politicians and policies are an added bonus. Blown:Samuel L.Jackson is set to try and blow up London -- not in real life thankfully -- but in the appropriately-titled espionage thriller Blown. Jim Caviezel is also set to star as the I5 agent tasked with stopping him. The plot revolves around his character's routine investigation of a global corporation that leads him to discover a terrorist attack is imminent. Jackson's villain is Julian Lezard, an evil businessman who "engages him in a high-stakes game of wits and deception." Pinocchio (remake):Guillermo del Toro's developing "Pinocchio" as a stop-motion feature with the Jim Henson Co. as a darker version of the original fairy tale. Project will be produced by JHC co-toppers Brian Henson and Lisa Henson along with senior VP Jason Lust. Del Toro will exec produce. Del Toro's working on the screenplay with Gris Grimley, who illustrated a 2002 version of "Pinocchio." Grimley and Adam Parrish King will co-direct the film. Pinocchio first appeared in the 19th Century book "The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Carlo Collodi. Walt Disney produced the first feature version of the story with his animated "Pinocchio" in 1940. "Pinocchio" is the latest in a long list of projects to which del Toro's attached. Top priority is New Line and MGM's "The Hobbit," the two-picture project he's committed the next five years to as director and co-writer with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. He also has a three-year first-look deal with Universal, where he's setting up remakes of "Frankenstein," "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "Slaughterhouse-Five" and an adaptation of "Drood" and several other projects The Summoner:James Cox ("Highway," "Wonderland") will direct the psychological horror feature "The Summoner" for Dark Castle and Warner Bros. Pictures. The story centers on a young man experimenting with the dark arts who summons a supernatural being to our world. When his control begins to slip and the situation turns deadly, he must stop the onslaught of evil before it's too late. Matthew Sand penned the script, Joel Silver and David Gambino are producing. Shooting kicks off in January in Portland, Oregon. Over 230 computer imaging artists will be involved on the project over the course of the next three years at Dr. D, a new digital production facility in Sydney's Fox Studios. A big factor for the production has been the New South Wales state government's assistance package which has allowed the production to be kept locally and help attract substantial foreign investment. Miller himself will helm the sequel. Robotech:Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have been drafted to pen "Robotech," Warner Bros.' adaptation of the anime classic. Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are producing with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello. "Robotech" was a 1980s cartoon series from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Prods. It was re-edited and re-dialogued to combine three Japanese anime series to give the producers enough episodes to air as a daily syndicated series. A sprawling sci-fi epic, "Robotech" takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots. XXX: The Return of Xander Cage"XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" is getting off the ground with "Terminator Salvation" scribes Michael Ferris and John Brancato in early talks to write a script that will reunite Vin Diesel with director Rob Cohen. The writing team, whose credits include "Terminator 3" and the upcoming Jonathan Mostow-directed "Surrogates," began talks after pitching their take last Friday for a new installment in the action series to Columbia Pictures presidents Matt Tolmach and Doug Belgrad. Producer Joe Roth got Diesel and Cohen to agree to a reteam earlier this year (Daily Variety, Sept. 15). Col moved quickly to lock up the property, getting first look because of its past relationship with "XXX" generator Revolution Studios. Diesel and Cohen teamed on the 2002 original, which starred Diesel as an extreme sports enthusiast drafted by the government for a dangerous mission. Battle: Los AngelesAaron Eckhart is attached to star in "Battle: Los Angeles," a sci-fi actioner that Jonathan Liebesman is directing for Columbia. Neal Moritz and his Original Film are producing. The deal puts the actor front and center on an action movie for the first time. Eckhart had made his name working on less mainstream films, among others starring in "In the Company of Men" and "Thank You for Smoking." He had one of his biggest roles to date in the summer, playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face in "The Dark Knight," the blockbuster that has grossed more than $997 million worldwide. The story, written by Chris Bertolini, revolves around a Marine platoon's encounter in the battle on the streets of Los Angeles against an alien invasion. Eckhart will play the platoon leader in the film, which has yet to set a start date. The Monster of Florence:"The Usual Suspects" and "Valkyrie" scribe Christopher McQuarrie will write and produce two project - "The Champions" and "The Monster of Florence" for United Artists. Douglas Preston, who co-writes the popular Pendergast novels such as "The Cabinet of Curiosities" and the previously adapted "Relic", authored the 2006 non-fiction New York Times Best-seller 'Monster' which concerns a true series of incredible events in the author's life. Shortly after moving his family to Italy in 2000, Preston learned that an olive grove on their property had been the scene of a brutal murder. Teaming with Italian journalist Mario Spezi, Preston began investigating the crime, which was part of a series of eight double homicides between 1968-1985. The pair became embroiled in a web of intrigue that grew all the more sinister when they themselves were implicated by the authorities for the slayings. Bruno:"Borat" creator Sacha Baron Cohen has enlisted the help of several professional gay porn stars for his upcoming film "Bruno". Casting agent David Forest was contacted by the production and he, Cohen and director Dan Mazer auditioned ten actors for the roles, ultimately settling on Paul Barba (aka. Tony Capucci) and John Martel (aka. Tyler Saint). In the scene, Cohen's campy Austrian journalist enters Burbank's Armano Hotel with some other men who try to get Bruno to join them in a five-man orgy upstairs. Though Bruno refuses to join the orgy, he watches them from the window. The scene is expected to be a memorable one as the roles require full frontal nudity. Goosebumps:Columbia Pictures and Original Film are teaming to bring the 1990s literary series Goosebumps to the big screen. The project is based on R.L. Stine's popular book series, which beget games and an animated TV series. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Problem Child, Ed Wood, Agent Cody Banks) have been hired to pen the screenplay adaptation. Quote Link to comment

sickness
First Avenger: Captain AmericaChristopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are in negotiations to write Marvel Studios' First Avenger: Captain America, to be directed by Joe Johnston and produced by Marvel's Kevin Feige. Created in 1941 by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon for Timely Comics, Captain America is the heroic alter ego of Steve Rogers, who is rejected by the Army for being too sickly and undergoes an experiment that takes him to the pinnacle of human form. Paired with an indestructible shield, he becomes a symbol of the war effort, fighting Nazis and villainous scientists like the Red Skull. In modern times, the character starred in his own long-running comic series and also was a charter member of Marvel's superteam, the Avengers. Marvel's "Captain America" will be a World War II-set movie, and the character will appear in modern day-set The Avengers. X-Men: First ClassGossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz has been hired by 20th Century Fox to script X-Men: First Class. The project will reportedly focus on a new and younger set of mutants than the older protagonists of the prior three films. Schwartz turned down the chance to also direct the film. The trade claims that X-Men: First Class "would likely draw from elements of the Marvel Comic of the same name, launched in 2006, and enlist such characters as Iceman, Rogue, Angel, Colossus, Jubilee and Shadowcat, who have appeared prominently or made cameos in prior pics." "Given the penchant for reboots with new actors playing familiar roles, pic could also reintroduce characters."
