The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn

The hero of the series is Tintin, a young Belgian reporter. He is aided in his adventures from the beginning by his faithful fox terrier dog Snowy (Milou in French). Later, popular additions to the cast included the brash, cynical and grumpy Captain Haddock, the bright but hearing-impaired Professor Calculus (Professeur Tournesol) and other colorful supporting characters such as the incompetent detectives Thomson and Thompson (Dupond et Dupont). Herge himself features in several of the comics as a background character; as do his assistants in some instances.

Apollo 18

March 4, 2011

Producer Timur Bekmambetov and the Weinstein Company hired Director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego to work on Apollo 18, an upcoming science-fiction thriller. The film is exploiting the found-footage concept, bu transposed to space: the story is indeed based on "lost recordings" from Apollo 18's mysterious mission to the Moon.

Plot:

"A quintessential Cold War story, Apollo 18 casts light on the covert and undocumented lunar mission that officially 'never happened'. Bekmambetov, hired by Russia to shoot a documentary about the Russian space station, recently came across footage in its space archives that bolsters the idea that an Apollo 18 mission did, in fact, take place, and reveals startling evidence of extraterrestrial life forms. This actual footage will be part of Apollo 18, a paranormal thriller that will interpolate fact and fiction."

World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles

March 11, 2011

Battle Los Angeles is an upcoming sci-fi action movie directed by Jonathan Liebesman. It is starring Aaron Eckhart in the lead role. The movie is also starring Bridget Moynahan, Michelle Rodrigue and Michael Pea alongside an ensemble cast including Ramon Rodriguez and Ne-Yo.

Plot:

Like Apollo 18, World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles finds its inspiration in a real-life event—here, mysterious craft that appeared over the Pacific Ocean on the night of February 24, 1942, at which the Air Force actually fired. The government later said that the craft were actually weather balloons. But for screenwriter Chris Bertolini and director Jonathan Liebesman, that event—and other UFO sightings the world over—provided good fodder for an alien-invasion story. What if those sightings were actually scouting missions? And what if those aliens, in search of water, eventually came back to Earth to take our planet from us? Battle: Los Angeles is one Marine battalion's view of a worldwide invasion by advanced extraterrestrials. Liebesman had the actors train with real Marines, and there was a military advisor on set who weighed in on everything from urban-warfare maneuvers to actors' dialogue. And the aliens were likewise battle-ready. "It was important to us that the aliens felt like a real army," Liebesman says. "We wanted to have aliens that harkened back to what you would have seen in Roswell but had a believable militaristic vibe."
