Johnny Depp movie updates:

As was previously rumored, Disney announced today at a press event in Los Angeles that Johnny Depp has signed on to play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND. The film will be shot using performance capture technology (most similar to BEOWULF) and will be presented in 3-D. Depp joins Mia Wasikowska who plays the title character while Matt Lucas will play the dual roles of Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

It was also teased that Depp will has been cast as The Lone Ranger in the upcoming movie to be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Report is also saying that Depp has signed on to play Tonto in THE LONE RANGER.

Walt Disney Studios Chairman Richard W. “Dick” Cook announced “How about another pirates movie!?” signaling that Depp was now signed for Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

Damn, sobrang busy ni Johnny. Cant wait for Mad Hatter character sa Alice in Wonderland. Sana itigil na yung Pirates.

I Am Legend (prequel):

Warner Bros. has set in motion a prequel to the Will Smith starrer "I Am Legend." The plan is for Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, with Francis Lawrence returning to direct. Akiva Goldsman and his Weed Road banner will produce with James Lassiter, Smith’s partner in Overbrook Entertainment. The studio has set D.B. Weiss to write a script that is based on a detailed outline that was hatched over the past few months by Smith, Goldsman, Lassiter and Lawrence. The prequel will chronicle the final days of humanity in New York before a man-made virus caused a plague that left Smith’s character the lone survivor among a mutated mob in the city.

di ko nagustuhan itong movie, sana ok itong prequel.

God of War:

The highly anticipated feature film adaptation of the blockbuster PlayStation title God of War has indeed found its director. Officially confirming months of rumors, X-Men: The Last Stand director Brett Ratner informed UGO that he is involved with the God of War movie and is awaiting a screenplay for it before the project can be green-lit by the studio.

God of War is a bloody story of vengeance, set in an ancient Greece full of mythical beings and deities. The hero of the story is a Spartan warrior named Kratos, who must carry out missions for the gods on Olympus to prevent Ares from destroying the city of Athens.

Spider-Man 4:

Now that director Sam Raimi and series star Tobey Maguire have signed on for Spider-Man 4 and 5, fans have wondered whether Kirsten Dunst will also return for the sequels.

MTV recently interviewed Dunst and asked the actress whether she would reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson now that her director and co-star have agreed to return. Here's what they report she had to say about the matter:

"'I'm in,' said the actress matter of factly. However, when pressed to make the announcement official, Dunst quickly changed her tone, and rather cryptically added, 'I'm not saying anything, I know there's rumors…'"

Ito excited ako sa God of War, sana lang maging ok yung kukunin nilang lead actor. Pede na siguro si Vin Diesel dito.

Spider-man 3 sucks, sana nasa sequel si Carnage or Lizard.

300 sequel:

Zack Snyder says he's spoken with Frank Miller who will be writing and drawing the graphic novel that the second film will be based on. Upon Miller's completion of the book, then, and only then, will they delve into writing a script for the movie.

Snyder continued and said he would not have any input into the novel and wants it to be a creation of Miller's 100%.

Snyder also said it will take place between the Battle of Thermopylae and the Battle of Plataea, the battle that narrator Dilios is at while re-telling the story of King Leonidas and the mighty Spartans to a new group of warriors at the end of 300.

As Dilios says, there's a whole year between Thermopylae and where he currently stands, in his final monologue he states,

“And so my king died, and my brothers died, barely a year ago. Long I pondered my king's cryptic talk of victory. Time has proven him wise, for from free Greek to free Greek, the word was spread that bold Leonidas and his three hundred, so far from home, laid down their lives. Not just for Sparta, but for all Greece and the promise this country holds.

Now, here on this ragged patch of earth called Plataea, Xerxes's hordes face obliteration!

Just there the barbarians huddle, sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers... knowing full well what merciless horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of three hundred. Yet they stare now across the plain at 10,000 Spartans commanding thirty thousand free Greeks!

Ayus ito, salamat sa update! excited na tuloy ako kahit ala na si Leonidas. Awoo awoo awoo!

When at the very end you find out that the main character was actually a ghost all along? This movie will scare you from the second you step inside the movie theatre. It will get you thinking if Something or Someone might be waiting for you to let your guard down. The movie, based on the 2004 French heist drama, follows a man who takes a job for an armored car company and ingratiates himself with his co-workers, who trust him enough to make him part of their heist plans. The Avengers:

"Iron Man” writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who themselves may be writing another Marvel movie in the near future, couldn’t agree more, they told MTV News, insisting that everything is building towards making The Hulk the villain in the eagerly anticipated 2011 movie.

“I hope ‘The Avengers’ embraces that,” Fergus said of having the Hulk as misunderstood baddie. “You don’t want like 10 super-badass good guys fighting together. Where’s the fun in that? Let’s break it off a little. Friends or colleagues who become enemies is always an interesting thing because you know it’s based on love and friendship and that’s always the worst thing to have turn bad — is someone you actually care about and someone you actually believe in.”

Hulk, of course, has fought nearly every Marvel hero at some point in the comics, and because he already had his own movie, wouldn’t need to be set-up in the new one. In fact, all the hard work is already done.

“I left the door open for whoever’s going to direct ‘The Avengers’ with our last shot. Edward [Norton] and I, we consciously decided to make the last shot of the movie when he opens his eyes and he smirks at the camera,” Leterrier told us. “Is he enjoying it? Is he malicious? That’s what’s great about Edward. You don’t know if he’s a good guy or bad guy. He’s always on this edge and we’ve been sort of surfing that edge, that very thin edge during the entire movie.”

Sleeper:

Brad Ingelsby is set to write the upcoming screenplay Sleeper for Warner Brothers. This adaptation of the DC/Wildstorm comic is set to star Leonardo DiCaprio and will be directed by Ridley Scott. Sleeper centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group named Miss Misery. While DiCaprio replaces the previously attached Tom Cruise, Sam Raimi is still attached to the project as a producer. At this time, the film does not have a concrete start date.

Headshot:

Warner Bros. has acquired screen rights to Alexis Nolent's French graphic novel series "Headshot". The story follows an unlikely alliance between a cop and a hitman takes place after each watches his partner die. The new partners seek revenge and discover they have a shared enemy and much in common despite being on opposite sides of the law. Alessandro Camon ("The Messenger," "The Chancellor Manuscript") has been set to write the script and "Smallville" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will produce along with Alexandra Milchan ("The Killer," "Cyclops").

The Happytime Murders:

Jim Henson Co., the company behind The Muppets, has picked up the comedic film noir spec script "The Happytime Murders". Written by Todd Berger ("Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five") from a story by Dee Austin Robertson and Berger, the murder mystery takes place in a world where humans and puppets co-exist, with the puppets viewed as second-class citizens.

When the puppet cast of an '80s children's TV show called "The Happytime Gang" begins to get murdered one by one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet with a drinking problem takes on the case. Due to the more adult nature of the material, it will be produced under the company's Henson Alternative banner. Brian Henson ("A Muppet Christmas Carol," "Muppet Treasure Island") is on board to direct.

Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh has cast precocious porn star Sasha Grey as the lead in his upcoming feature, "The Girlfriend Experience," Adult Video News reported.

The low-budget drama, currently shooting in Gotham, chronicles the life of a high-price call girl, is part of Soderbergh's six-pic deal with multimedia entrepreneur Mark Cuban. Pic was written by "Ocean's 13" scribes Brian Koppelman and David Levien and will bow under the Magnolia Pictures shingle.

The 20-year-old Grey entered the skin biz just after her 18th birthday and has appeared in scores of XXX flicks. In January she became the youngest recipienct of AVN's Female Performer of the Year award.

For Grey, who lists Jean-Luc Godard, Bernardo Bertolucci, and Catherine Breillat among her favorite filmmakers, "Girlfriend" will be her third legit film appearance in 2009, having notched small parts in Dick Rude's indie "Quit" and Canadian horror project "Smash Cut."

"To have the opportunity to work for an Academy Award-winning auteur is truly a great honor," Grey told AVN. "I've been an admirer of Soderbergh's films for years, and I am elated that I have been given a leading role in a character-driven film."
