Short Circuit (remake):

Dimension Films has acquired rights to remake the 1986 film "Short Circuit". The original introduced Number 5, a robot built by the military to be a highly sophisticated weapon. It developed a conscience and a personality after being hit by lightning, and then needed the help of humans after it was targeted for destruction by its makers, once it became a peacenik. Original scribes S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock have been hired to write the remake.

The Matarese Circle:

The project, "The Matarese Circle," revolves around two secret agents -- an American and a Russian -- who must work together to fight a mysterious group of killers known as the Matarese. The twist: The agents, Bradley Scofield and Vasili Taleniekov, have been nemeses for years, with each responsible for killing someone close to the other. According to those familiar with the pitch, Washington would play Scofield. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the scribes behind Lionsgate's "3:10 to Yuma" and upcoming Universal tentpole "Wanted," are attached as writers. Veteran producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler are on board as producers.

Cirque du Freak:

Paul Weitz is adapting the script as well as directing. CIRQUE DU FREAK has picked up John C. Reilly, Josh Hutcherson, Chris Kelly, Salma Hayek, and Ken Watanabe. Reilly is set to play the main vampire, Hutcherson the 14-yr old lead, and Hayek as the bearded lady. A vampire drafts a 14-year old to serve as his assistant. The youth is turned into a half-vampire and becomes the catalyst in a battle between vampires and the rival Vampanese.

Larklight:

A period fantasy set in a Victorian-era alternate universe in which mankind has been exploring the solar system since the time of Isaac Newton, LARKLIGHT revolves around a brother and sister who team with a band of renegade space pirates to save the world from destruction at the hands of a madman.

His virgin viewing of the iconic thriller blows his mind -- and rapidly expanding imagination -- wide open. Now, Will sets out to join forces with the seemingly diabolical school bully, Lee Carter, to make their own action epic, devising wildly creative, on-the-fly stunts, not to mention equally elaborate schemes for creating a movie of total commitment and non-stop thrills while hiding out from The Brethren. But when school popularity finally descends on Will and Lee in the form of, oui, the super-cool French exchange student, Didier Revol, their remarkable new friendship and precious film are pushed, quite literally, to the breaking
