Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Rumor has it that the seventh and final Harry Potter film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be split into two separate films. This comes as an artistic decision, not a financial one. The crew working on the sixth Potter film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince were informed of the decision this week. The seventh novel is 776 pages long, and Rowling insists that splitting the film in two will allow fan favorite scenes to stay in the movie.

A source close to the film states, "There's so much to fit that the view is the last movie should be in two halves. There is a huge battle when Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, takes on Voldemort that needs to be done really well." Warner Brothers simply stated, "People are discussing all possibilities."

X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

Liev Schreiber ("The Sum of all Fears," "The Manchurian Candidate") will play Victor Creed - aka. Sabretooth - in the Gavin Hood-directed "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". Schreiber involvement was previously thought to be that of a young Stryker, the villain played by Brian Cox in "X2: X-Men United" who was responsible for Wolverine's creation.

Instead "Six Feet Under" and "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall is in talks for the role of Stryker, whilst Michelle Monaghan is being sought for Silver Fox. "Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe. The film opens next May.

Final Destination 4:

The premise of the series is that even if you cheat death once, a force that is death itself will stalk you until it finishes what is started, usually in a gruesome fashion. In FD4 a group of kids avoid death from a race car crash when a foreign object flies into the stands barely missing them.

A Nightmare on Elm Street:

Platinum Dunes, the company behind the "Amityville Horror" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remakes, are planning to bring back the two biggest icons of 80's cinematic horror. As previously announced, producers Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have been working on a re-launch of the "Friday the 13th" franchise for New Line. Shooting on that project begins this April with Marcus Nispel ("Pathfinder") directing. Now, New Line has also hired the trio to re-launch the cornerstone franchise that established the mini-major - "A Nightmare on Elm Street". Both series will be given a "complete overhaul" according to the trades. New Line won't hire a writer on "Nightmare" until the writers strike ends. The original Wes Craven-directed 1984 original centered on Freddy Krueger, a serial child killer murdered by angry parents who returns with a burned face and razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.

My Bloody Valentine (remake):

Patrick Lussier (Dracula 2000, White Noise 2) has been tapped to helm the remake of My Bloody Valentine for Lionsgate. Based on the 1981 film written by John Beaird and John Dunning, we've also been informed that the screenplay was written by Zane Smith. Here's the synopsis: Ten years ago the sleepy town of Harmony, Montana was the setting for a series of grisly murders on Valentine's night. Now, it seems the killer is back...or is he?

Book of Blood:

Based on the wraparound story penned by Clive Barker in the author's "Books of Blood" collection, a psychic researcher, Mary Florescu, has employs medium Simon McNeal to investigate a haunted house. McNeal, at first, begins to fake his visions, but then real ghosts present themselves. They attack him and carve words in his flesh, and these words, claims the narrator, form the rest of the stories, stories written on a literal, living Book of Blood.

Venom:

Reports says that Marvel Studios is gearing up for a film spin-off featuring "Spider-Man" villain Venom, and has already met with "several A-list writers" about the project. The studio signed an interim agreement with the WGA the other week allowing them to continue developing scripts for projects, and retains the rights to the character despite his appearance in Sony's highly profitable but critically mixed "Spider-Man 3". No word if actor Topher Grace will reprise his role of if Sam Raimi will be involved though both are unlikely.
