JOE:Destro, the film's main villain has apparently been cast, and the man to play him is David Murray, also known as 'Charles Bowden' from VERONICA GUERIN. This casting comes hot on the heels of Channing Tatum playing "Duke", with that announcement comes word that Dennis Quaid has also joined the cast as General Hawk and Arnold Vosloo has been cast as Zartan. Tolkien for New Line Cinema and MGM. Oscar winner Peter Jackson, who directed the Lord of the Rings trilogy, will executive produce The Hobbit. The screenplay cannot be worked on, however, until after the writers' strike ends. The studio signed an interim agreement with the WGA the other week allowing them to continue developing scripts for projects, and retains the rights to the character despite his appearance in Sony's highly profitable but critically mixed "Spider-Man 3". No word if actor Topher Grace will reprise his role of if Sam Raimi will be involved though both are unlikely.
