Justice League of America:

 

The big casting rumor of the day is that Knocked Up co-star Jay Baruchel is in the running to play the villain in Warner Bros.' live-action Justice League of America movie.

 

The rumor originated at TriggerStreet.com, a Web site started by Kevin Spacey's production company. The report claims that Baruchel has walked away from starring in the DreamWorks project She's Out of My League to join JLA instead.

 

There's no word on which villain role Baruchel might play, if the rumor is indeed true, but Maxwell Lord is reportedly the central villain of the story, which is said to borrow heavily from DC Comics' build-up to its "Infinite Crisis" storyline.

X-Men Origins : Wolverine

Aussie soap "Neighbours" hunk Christian Clark is in talks to join Hugh Jackman for the superhero flick "X-Men Origins : Wolverine". Clark will join the rest of the cast Sydney early next year to shoot the "X-Men" spin-off.

 

 

 

Clash of the Titans (remake):

Stephen Norrington ("Blade," "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen") will direct Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures remake of 1981 cult classic "Clash of the Titans". The original is an adaptation of the classic Greek myth of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda. Harry Hamlin, Maggie Smith, Laurence Olivier, Burgess Meredith, Ursula Andress, and a bunch of Ray Harryhausen stop motion animated creatures starred.

 

 

 

X-Files 2:

Callum Keith Rennie (“Tin Man” ) and Adam Godley (“Around the World in 80 Days”) have signed on to co-star in the untitled X-Files sequel for 20th Century Fox. They join David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Xzibit, Amanda Peet and Billy Connolly in the Chris Carter directed sequel. The studio is keeping the film's logline under wraps, but stressed the pic is a stand-alone story and supernatural thriller that takes the complicated relationship between Mulder and Scully in new directions.

Dragonball Z:

Emmy Rossum has joined the cast of 20th Century Fox's live-action adaptation of the popular manga Dragon Ball Z. "Heroes" actress Eriko Tamura, who plays Mai, and newcomer Joon Park (upcoming Speed Racer), who plays bad boy Yamcha, are also coming aboard the film. Rossum joins a cast that includes Justin Chatwin, James Marsters and Jamie Chung. The sci-fi adventure is being directed by James Wong. Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) is producing.

 

 

 

The Adventures of Tintin:

Peter Jackson is set to reteam with his performance-capture star Andy Serkis for DreamWorks' Tintin trilogy, based on Georges Remi's Belgian comic-strip. Steven Spielberg and Jackson will each helm at least one of the three films, though the specific lineup is unknown. The studio was mum on which character or characters the actor will play but said it will not be the titular Tintin. It is believed Serkis will play the role of Capt. Haddock, the temperamental sea captain. The films will chronicle the adventures of Tintin, a junior reporter who will follow stories even though he often finds his own life in jeopardy.

The Hobbit:

Peter Jackson, director of New Line's wildly successful Lord of the Rings trilogy, is officially returning to J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy realm as producer of a two-film adaptation of The Hobbit. Jackson and filmmaking partner Fran Walsh are set to serve as executive producer on two Hobbit movies that will be shot simultaneously. A director hasn't been picked yet, but production is set to start in 2009 with the first installment debuting on the big screen in 2010. The Hobbit's conclusion will follow in 2011.

Dragonball Z:

Chow Yun-Fat has signed on to the live-action adaptation of Dragonball for Twentieth Century Fox. The story follows Goku (Justin Chatwin), a warrior alien who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling mystical objects known as Dragon Balls. Chow will play Master Roshi, Goku's mentor who helps him achieve the highest state of fighting and spiritual powers. He joins a cast that also includes James Marsters, Emmy Rossum and Jamie Chung. James Wong is directing the movie which is shooting in Mexico City and Los Angeles.

 

 

 

G.I. JOE: The Movie

Korean star Byeong-Heon Lee wil play Storm Shadow and Rachel Nichols is Shana "Scarlett" O'Hara in Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe adaptation. Storm Shadow, aka. Thomas S. Arashikage, is the Cobra Commander's ninja bodyguard and assassin who has changed sides several times, conflicted in loyalties between Cobra, G.I. Joe and his long relationship with his swordbrother Snake-Eyes (Ray Park). The Atlanta-born O'Hara is a crossbow-wielding counter intelligence expert with martial arts and acrobatic skills who serves from time to time as team leader.

 

 

 

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

The main character of SALVATION is Marcus, a "Riddick" like character who "was put 'out of commission' before the nuclear holocaust on Judgment Day and he wakes up about 15 years before the future we see in the original Terminator films, which puts the movie at about 2015 or so.

Tekken: The Movie

Dwight Little has been set to direct "Tekken," a futuristic martial arts actioner based on the bestselling Japanese vidgame from Namco. Little, who last directed "Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid" and "Murder at 1600," has directed martial arts pics before, including "Rapid Fire," starring Brandon Lee, and the Steven Seagal starrer "Marked for Death."

 

"The film plays out as a science fiction story set in the near future, about a rebel who rises up against the Tekken Corp. to seize freedom for his people," Little. "It's a gladiator story, but the videogame has a complicated enough storyline that it provides the template for a martial arts spectacular."

 

 

 

Prince of Persia:

Passing through India en route to Azad, King Sharaman and his son, the Prince of Persia, defeat the powerful Maharajah of India with the promise of honor and glory. After looting the city and capturing a giant hourglass full of sand, a mysterious dagger, and the Maharajah's daughter Farah along with other treasures, they continue to Azad. A dying Vizier, who had betrayed the Maharajah and aided King Sharaman in return for a share of the spoils, demands to have the dagger, as he was promised his choice of the Maharajah's treasures. But Sharaman refuses to take the dagger from his son, who captured it first.

 

So the Vizier, who wishes to harness the power of the sands in the hourglass for himself, making him an immortal god and giving him control over time itself, tricks the Prince into opening the hourglass. When the Prince uses the dagger to unleash the Sands of Time from the hourglass, the Sands destroy the kingdom and turn all living beings into hideous sand creatures. Only the Prince, the Vizier, and Princess Farah, the kidnapped daughter of the Maharajah, remain unchanged due to their possessions; the Prince's dagger, the Vizier's staff, and Farah's medallion.

 

 

 

G.I. JOE: The Movie

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, recently featured on "Lost" as Mr. Eko. Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be playing Heavy Duty. The other new name is The Kite Runner's Said Taghmaoui who will play Breaker, the team's communications specialist. These three join already cast Sienna Miller as Baroness and Ray Park as Storm Shadow. G.I. Joe will be directed by Stephen Sommers and is expected to hit theaters in August 2009.

 

 

 

Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li

Smallville actress, Kristin Kreuk, will play Chun-Li as the story based on the Capcom vid will follow the female fighter and her journey for justice. Justin Marks penned the script and Doom helmer Andrzej Bartkowiak will direct as production is expected to get underway in Thailand in March. 20th Century Fox will distribute. The film is hoping for a 2008 release to coincide with the game's 20th anniversary.

 

 

 

 

The Day the Earth Stood Still (remake):

"Mad Men" star Jon Hamm will join Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly in the remake of Robert Wise's 1951 sci-fi classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still" for Fox. Hamm will play Dr. Granier, a NASA official who recruits Helen (Connelly) for the scientific team investigating an alien's arrival on Earth. Reeves plays Klaatu, the alien who has a simple message: Live in peace or be destroyed.
