sickness
The Mummy 3: Curse Of The DragonMaria Bello will replace Rachel Weisz in the third installment of The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon after Weisz left because of "script problems". Variety reports that she joins Brendan Fraser, Luke Ford, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh in the Rob Cohen-directed film for Universal Pictures. Bello will play Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell, the adventuress played in the first two films by Weisz. After Weisz declined to reprise, Cohen and the studio cast a wide net for a replacement. Scripted by "Smallville" creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the film brings the O'Connells and their full-grown son (Ford) to the forbidden tombs of China and the Himalayas, where they battle a shape-shifting mummy, a former Chinese emperor (Li) cursed by a wizard (Yeoh). The Dark Knight:Rumor has it that Cillian Murphy and the Scarecrow will return for The Dark Knight. Originally there were rumors that Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin would be in the film but that news was debunked and many began to wonder if another villain would join Joker. It's unclear how large Scarecrow's role will be but he may play a part in helping Joker concoct his "Joker toxin". brian
Boreanaz Up For "Sub-Mariner"? "Bones" and "Angel" star David Boreanaz could be up for the role of Marvel comics hero "The Sub-Mariner" reports Superhero Hype. A scooper for the site says that David recently auditioned for the role in the Universal Pictures project which Jonathan Mostow is directing. In the comics Namor is the son of a human sea captain and of a princess of the mythical undersea kingdom of Atlantis. Namor possesses the super-strength and aquatic abilities of the "Homo mermanus" race. Through the years, he has been alternatively portrayed as a good-natured but short-fused superhero, or a hostile invader seeking vengeance for perceived wrongs that misguided surface-dwellers committed against his kingdom. brian
Metal Gear Solid Movie ExclusiveWill David Hayter be involved? May 14, 2007 - The one question that fans have consistently asked us ever since the news broke that Konami and Sony Pictures were teaming to turn the videogame Metal Gear Solid into a feature film is whether screenwriter-actor David Hayter would be involved with the project. Hayter voiced the game's protagonist, Solid Snake. Now IGN can exclusively report that Hayter will not be a part of the film. We have confirmed that Hayter pitched his take on the project to Konami but they have opted not to hire him to script and/or produce it. Hayter even penned a treatment for the proposed big-screen version but, alas, the powers-that-be passed on it. An insider who has read Hayter's treatment advised us that his take was "Metal Gear as the Apocalypse Now of the digital age, with Snake at the center of a swirling whirlpool of Genomic/military madness." Since voicing Solid Snake, Hayter has carved out a second career for himself as a screenwriter, beginning with Bryan Singer's X-Men. His screenplay adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' graphic novel Watchmen is being revised by Alex Tse and director Zack Snyder for the long-in-development feature film. Quote Link to comment
sickness
Tintin:Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are teaming to direct and produce three back-to-back features based on Georges Remi's beloved Belgian comic-strip hero Tintin for DreamWorks. The filmmakers will each direct at least one of the movies. The movies will be produced in full digital 3-D using WETA Digital's performance capture technology. The series, which has sold more than 200 million copies worldwide, chronicles the adventures of a junior reporter who will follow stories to the ends of the earth, even though he often finds his own life in jeopardy. His able assistants include a white dog named Snowy, the lunatic Captain Haddock, the muddled genius Professor Calculus and the Thompson Twins. Spielberg and Jackson have selected three stories from Remi's "The Adventures of Tintin" series, which encompassed 23 books published between 1929 and 1976. Spielberg has held various film rights to the series off and on for more than 25 years. Dark Knight:Rumor has it that the teaser trailer will be shown on the front of Harry Potter this summer. Here's a description of the trailer: the teaser trailer will show a series of playing cards falling in slow-motion against a black background. Over this we supposedly hear The Joker's voice. The last card to fall is a joker card "with also a picture of the bat signal on fire." John Rambo: Mutant Chronicles:The flick, set in a blasted-out future where corporations have battled each other over natural resources, is aiming for a grim WWI tone. The last card to fall is a joker card "with also a picture of the bat signal on fire." Unfortunately that rumor was killed. AICN and many other sites around the web are reporting that a teaser trailer for the Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight, will premiere before Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Unfortunately we have received word from a VERY GOOD SOURCE that this is completely 100% untrue. So mark this rumor as killed. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix hits theaters on July 13. brian
Thomas Jane Drops Out of The Punisher 2Posted on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 at 4:56 pm by: Peter Sciretta The Punisher star Thomas Jane revealed to AICN that he is dropping out of the proposed Punisher sequel. “I regretfully and painfully had to pull out of P2. I can’t tell you how completely broken up I am about it,” Jane wrote. “Punisher fans are already fighting an uphill battle as it is. And I’ve always felt a responsibility to fight that fight for them and with them so that Frank Castle gets the treatment he deserves.”While I very much hated the Punisher movie, but love the comic book character. I have a feeling that with the success of the family friendly comic book movies, the studio wanted to take the character in a more PG direction. And this is just my assumption. Jane also wrote: “What I won’t do is spend months of my life sweating over a movie that I just don’t believe in. I’ve always loved the Marvel guys, and wish them well. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to search for a film that one day might stand with all those films that the fans have asked me to watch.” You can read his full letter over at AintItCool.com.
