westhoratio
Pluralpenguin
With the advent of camera phones being accessible to almost everyone, i find it hard to believe that nobody has yet captured a photo/video of anything extraterrestrial in nature. The time of hoaxes is over. William Borucki, the principal investigator of NASA’s Kelpler mission, said he's very surprised at the lack of evidence of extraterrestrial life, given his work discovering habitable planets outside our solar system, South China Morning Post reported.“Up till now, it was just an intellectual question. It isn’t anymore. There could be 10 billion civilizations or none. The evidence certainly is none,” Borucki said in an interview with the Hong Kong newspaper Thursday. ”The evidence says no one’s out there.”Since the Kepler mission launched in 2009, Borucki said scientists now know that millions of planets orbit each star. But those findings have not helped answer one of humankind’s biggest questions: Why haven’t we been contacted?“We have a galaxy full of 10 billion planets, in habitable zones, roughly Earth-size, [but] no visits, no communications we’ve picked up,” he told South China Morning Post. “How can that be?” Borucki, who started working at NASA in 1962, will be awarded the Shaw Prize in Astronomy in Hong Kong Thursday night for his work on the Kepler mission, which has resulted in the discovery of more than 1,000 confirmed planets and an additional 3,600 planetary candidates outside the solar system. The prestigious award honors those who have achieved significant advances in academic and scientific research and whose findings have had a profound impact.Borucki, who also helped design the heat shields protecting the astronauts who landed on the moon in 1969, said he plans to give $100,000 of his prize money to fight climate change and will donate another portion to the ALS Foundation.“I’ve spent a large portion of my career searching for other worlds,” Borucki said Wednesday in a press release from the Union of Concerned Scientists. “What we’ve found has underscored how important it is to protect this one. While we can detect other worlds, we cannot go to them. Our future is here on Earth and we must do much more to ensure that our planet’s climate remains hospitable.” Quote Link to comment

Sir Galahad®
Space is one thing that religion cannot explain fully. I mean a millenia ago people believed that the earth was the center of the universe and the sun and the planets revolved around it, and outside of the solar system is a substance that makes up heaven (I think they called it Aether). Now we get pictures that makes us simply a speck in the universe, the pale blue dot. As for why they haven't contacted us, there are some possibilities 1. They are just like us, so it meant they did not master space travel as well and are still confined to their planet 2. The sci-fi series star trek, which talks about the alpha, beta, gamma and delta quadrants. They are only about the milky way. They even didn't touch the andromeda galaxy. All in all there is an estimated 225 billion galaxies in the observable universe. And are really really far from each other. Maybe they have tried to contact us, but they way light travels, it would take millions of years just to reach us. To send a message to andromeda, it would take 2.5 million years to send and another 2.5 million years to send it back. 3. Another theory is also in star trek, is that they have a directive not to bother with civilizations less advanced then we are. "The universe is a pretty big place. If it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space.” (from the movie contact) Quote Link to comment

Kingfish30
There is a book I read online that tells about the alien that survived the roswell crash. "it" was interviewed by an army nurse. According to the alien, earth is a "prison" planet. Our souls are trapped here. When we die, our souls memory are "erased" which is why we can't remember our past lives. However, there are certain cases where some "memory" are not totally erased. This explains why there are children who instinctively knows how to read, write, play musical instruments without learning it or training just to mention a few. Quote Link to comment

Kingfish30
May nakasulat po ba sa bible regarding aliens? Ever heard of fallen angels and Nephilims?Note that the bible is a "collection" of "approved" books by the council of nicea whose goal was to establish a "uniform doctrine". They discarded books not considered as scriptures or if it would cause division among the faithfull. One such example is the book of enoch where watchers, fallen angels and nephilims are mentioned. MrChase
Just a thought. I might say they, like us, probably haven't yet reached the level of technology to contact us. Heck, they might just be like us right now, also wondering about the same thing. Quote Link to comment
camus
Maybe they have already, but we're just too stupid to see the signs. 1 Quote Link to comment
firebaseUtility
Gustong gusto ko yung Ancient Alien Series, sino dito nanunuod niyon. Puro ancient alien theories and conspiracies. Quote Link to comment
ozman88
If there are aliens out there with technology vastly superior to ours, may we never be found, as we have nothing to offer to them. Much like being ants and seeing a band of humans making a city out of the ground your ant hill is on. It's not going to be pretty. Quote Link to comment

abduljackolsalsalani
Our perception has always been that extra terrestrial life forms to be more of an advanced technology than us. My take on this is that there is a possibility that aliens still are still developing their technology. Maybe like us, they are searching for the answer to our own question of existence outside one's planet? In the event that the technological advancement occurred at a faster rate to them, as the dark ages did not occur in their historic timeline, the cosmological barrier may be the limiting factor or hindrance. They might be in another far away galaxy that space travel might take along time. Faster than light travel is a possibility but gravitational lensing might be the factor that makes contacting us difficult as possible optical or radio visualization is refocused and bent such that they technically see through us or what is behind the planet. samsonph
The universe is so vast that we can hardly comprehend the extent. I'm certain there are many other advanced lifeforms out there. Who knows how far they are though? What I wonder is if there is another intelligent civilization in our own galaxy? If that is the case, and neither destroy ourselves first, we will bump into each other sooner or later... Quote Link to comment
Sir Galahad®
Star Trek has a take on this. They call it the Prime directive. When a ship comes into contact with a civilization that doesn't have the same technology they have (FTL Travel, Replication, etc.), they can observe but should not make contact with them. Quote Link to comment
temurlenk
Intelligent beings that have more superior tech than humans on earth must've evolved earlier, if so they would have to be located in a planet or galaxy older than the earth and hence further away. The oldest galaxy detected by the Hubble telescope is about 13.4 billion years old (GN-z11), compared to the earth which is only 4.543 billion years old. This means that if conditions permit for life to evolve in that part of the universe, then it is more than likely that a more advanced civilization exists and thrives out there. If they do exist, they would be around 8 or 9 billion years older than us humans. In theory, this is more than enough time to develop spacecraft that can travel faster than the speed of light and allow them to reach earth even before humans have evolved. Who knows, maybe they're among us already. Maybe they created us and are watching over us. Quote Link to comment
