Palos77
What we need is a good system, longer preparations for players and a good naturalize player Quote Link to comment
markteles
Hopefully all the stakeholders unite for a long term plan instead of hiding the mistakes made by key personnel. Tayo pa naman host next year so the world is looking up to us. We have to show the world that we are world class for a reason 👊 Quote Link to comment

abduljackolsalsalani
SBP had an agreement to help improve Philippine basketball. Ideally political cages among PBA team should not be a hindrance. The problem lies in the choice of an engaged program director. The time of Ravko Toroman is our finest period. Monetary compensation is also a factor. Aging great PBA players who can make s difference are refusing to suit up, possibly fearing injuries that can sideline them from receiving their multimillion pay once they return for the league. The level of play is likewise antiquated, 70-80's. The players keep on inefficiently and fancily dribbling the ball too much, being very tentative and allowing defense to adjust, before going for the bucket. This results in costly turnovers and a chance for an opponent to score. Global trend of play now is more efficient, being able to score with the less dribble. A task that can easily work to our advantage as we are a smaller, faster, and somewhat athletic. The exodus of Filipino players towards international leagues, also hurts our program a lot. Individually, their skills maybe honed but they will never be able to adjust to the Philippines' play in a jiffy for an international competition. Our team should be a cohesive, coherent one which will play together for a long time. Gilas should work on Carl Tamayo. The kid has the toughness and physicality of Benjie Paras but with great lateral movement. Kai Sotto is too slow and underpowered for his position. No amount of further training will develop him.
