the reality of it is that you still have to go through those denial-anger-bargaining-depression-acceptance phases. i guess the trick is to go through that as quickly as you emotionally can. for me, i go for isolation in the first 3 stages, friends (not the i-told-you-so kind) and alcohol in the next two and my reassuringly humongous pride never fails me in the end.

 

 

which part do you think is usually the longest one for you?

The five stages - I just heard that kanina while watching Grey's Anatomy DVD. Anyway...for me the longest usually is the "depression" stage. Even if I was able to accept that life's going to be different after the loss, sometimes, whenever I look back on life and reminisce on the good old days, it just hits the heart and I wonder, "How he is now... blah blah..." and depression goes on again.
