berde
If your professor announces that your next exam will be open-book (meaning, unlike in normal circumstances, you will be allowed to open your books / notes / math formulas / etc. while you take the exam), do you look at it as an extra challenge? (Because if your professor were sadistic enough, open-book exams mean the same as saying "I'll give you an exam so hard that you won't get a passing grade... even if you've got your books open." ) Quote Link to comment
howard_the_duck
OK to sa subjects that need calculation. kung hindi, what's the point? Quote Link to comment
baratobama
Extra challenge! Though I'd keep the book just in case I need it. OP, nice avatar. Quote Link to comment
ButtChicKick
Should be a challenge. Open-book exams simulate the situations professionals face every day, when they use resources to solve problems but they tend to be useless in introductory subjects in which facts / skills must be learned or thoroughly mastered if students are expected to progress to complicated concepts in advanced subjects. Students who are lacking basic knowledge may waste too much of their time consulting their references rather than writing/answering. They seem to reduce stress though. Quote Link to comment
boobooboi
these kinds of exams are effective IF there are a lot of concepts to be memorized and you simply what to make the student pick one. Quote Link to comment
discoduck34567
usually these exams are super challenging and its not really an advantage to have the open book Quote Link to comment
jermitano
usually happens on psychology exams... Quote Link to comment

Retired1234
sa engineering matakot ka pag open book ibig sabihin sobra hirap ng exam. Baka wala ka rin mapala sa mga libro mo.hehe Quote Link to comment
azayco
Open book exams mean that you have to either: 1. study very hard because you will most likely not find the answers in your book; or 2. improve your searching skills ala Google. Quote Link to comment
shrike
what's the fuss, open book or not, still the same exam. if you know the subject matter very well, no amount of effort from your prof can bar you from achieving high grades. focus. :thumbsupsmiley: Quote Link to comment
