HarryPotter25
Mr. Excitement - Paul AlvarezReason: perfect fit, well-thought of nickname, creative and not copied from the NBA. Another one Philip Cezar was called The Scholar It was actually Pinggoy Pengson who dubbed him as such, back in 1982. Before being called "The Scholar," he was actually called Mr. Stretch and Prince Philip, before he became King Philip after winning King of the Hardcourt (one-on-one competition) against Ramon Fernandez in 1979.Pengson described Cezar as an exemplary player who uses his cranium more than his athleticism. And he's right - Cezar was hardly the kind of player who can be described as physically fit (he was allegedly a heavy smoker during his playing days). He didn't even jump very high - not once have I seen him dunk the ball. But because Cezar was extremely smart, cerebral, and ma-diskarte, he made up for his lack of athleticism with his game smarts. How can you question the intelligence of a man capable of defending the best offensive players, Filipino or otherwise, in the league? How can you doubt the mental gift of the man who blocks shots, sets plays, scores points, takes over the leadership role of a superstar-studded team all in one game? That's Cezar for you - to my mind, the most cerebral player to ever play in the PBA. And that's why he's called "The Scholar." Quote Link to comment
