Sour graping lang yung import hahaha. Parang si Pacman nuong interview after his fight with Mayweather, takbo raw ng takbo. Tinanong siya ng interviewer, 'why did you not adjust"? Walang maisagot. Onuaku was spied well by TC

exactly chief...di niya matanggap na sampu lang ang ginawa niya at hirap na hirap siya kina greg at japeth.

Jeffers is doing his job, and Ginebra looks better than ever

Ginebra 103 Meralco 90

The landscape of imports has changed throughout the years. Gone are the days where teams would automatically just recruit the biggest, baddest most dominant imports. The PBA is so far removed from when imports needed to score 105 points to help their team win.

Right now, the league is chock-full of local talent. Every team is loaded with players who can carry the scoring load. Some teams even have a dominant big man, rendering the big hulking imports of the past obsolete.

Nowadays the key to selecting imports is all about fit. The best imports in the league are the players that can marry their own personal talents to what the rest of the team already has. Its all about finding the import that will elevate your team, not dominate the competition.

When I first heard of Othyus Jeffers as Ginebras import, I was worried. I thought he was a high-flying scorer similar to Talk N Texts import Tony Mitchell a few years ago.

I was so wrong. Jeffers has seamlessly fit into the blue-collar system and mindset that Coach Tim Cone has instilled in Ginebra. He came in and filled the holes in the team.

Ginebra desperately needed help on the wings entering this conference. Mark Caguioa is in the twilight of his career and isnt as explosive as he used to be. Chris Ellis is a gifted athlete but hes still a work in progress. Jeffers has stepped into the small forward role and has done everything to help Ginebra win.

The former Minnesota Timberwolf has been Ginebras best defender. Hes always blanketing the best player of the other team. Hes got the strength to battle with any of the imports in the league right now and the athleticism to keep up with the faster local players.

PBA - Ginebra vs Meralco - April 13, 2016 - PRT - 2

Jeffers is also a gifted passer. Having him to initiate the offense has helped unlock the scoring of the locals like LA Tenorio, Greg Slaughter, Japeth Aguilar and Caguioa. When the ball is with him on the wing, hes not looking to shoot like other imports. Instead, hes looking for cutters and wide-open shooters beyond the three-point line.

Against the league-leading Bolts, Jeffers put together a complete performance to help black out Meralco. He scored 11 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out nine assists, to go with his always-stellar defense. His highlight reel included passes to a cutting Caguiao and a flashing Slaughter, both for buckets.

One particular play in the game encapsulated what Jeffers means to Ginebra.

Ginebra was leading 96-80 with less than four minutes left in the game. No one would have blamed Jeffers if he just played at a leisurely pace from then on. But no. Jeffers grabbed an offensive rebound off a Caguioa miss and was immediately surrounded by three Bolts. He pumped faked thrice before rising up from the scrum for a put-back.

Thats what Jeffers really brings to the team. Hes one of the most hard-working players on the court at all times. He never takes a break and always makes the right play.

Jeffers brings a toughness and intensity that would put the Ginebra locals to shame if they didnt match it. And as such, his impact on the team goes way beyond the numbers. Jeffers works for stat, and that style of play has visibly rubbed off on the rest of the team.

The last time Ginebra had an import that worked this hard was Vernon Macklin. Back then, the team made the Finals thanks to the incredible effort of their big man. This conference, Ginebra has an even more talented roster, a legendary coach and Jeffers, who is as tireless as Macklin. Who knows how far Ginebra will go?

We can appreciate the wisdom of having a 'short' but talented import, only because our talls (Greg and Japeth) are delivering as to where CTC wanted them to...Otherwise, if opposing tall imports wreak havoc on us, we will definitely miss having a tall import as well...

Will it be SMB vs Star in PBA quarterfinals? Take a look at playoff scenarios
Read more at http://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/news/commissioners-cup-playoff-scenarios#sRoJwjb0s5UhYGMg.99

THE PBA Commissioner’s Cup postseason cast may have already been completed, but a lot of movement is still bound to happen after the last day of the elimination round on Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Only Star, which caught the last bus to the playoffs after its 86-73 win over Mahindra on Wednesday, is affixed among all the quarterfinals-bound teams, being in the eighth spot, waiting for the squad that will finish at No. 1.

Here are the standings for the postseason participants as of Thursday:

Meralco 8-3

SMB 7-3

GIN 7-4

ROS 7-4

Alaska 6-4

TNT 6-4

NLEX 5-5

Star 5-6

And here’s the schedule for the last playdate of the eliminations at the Big Dome.

4:15 p.m.: Alaska vs NLEX

7 p.m.: Tropang TNT vs San Miguel Beer

There are four scenarios left. Two of the four scenarios will see the quarterfinals start right away on Sunday, while the other two scenarios will see a playoff happening to determine the No. 2 seed that stakes a twice-to-beat advantage in the first round.

The top two seeds face the seventh and eighth seeds, respectively, while the third seed takes on the sixth seed, and the fourth and fifth seeds face off in a best-of-three series.

If Alaska and SMB win:

SMB 8-3

Meralco 8-3

Alaska 7-4

GIN 7-4

ROS 7-4

TNT 6-5

NLEX 5-6

Star 5-6

The Beermen will claim the top seed and a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals against sister side Star. Meralco gets second spot and the other win-once incentive against sister squad NLEX. Alaska finishes at third and takes on Tropang TNT, while Ginebra and Rain or Shine square off.

If Alaska loses and SMB wins:

SMB 8-3

Meralco 8-3

GIN 7-4

ROS 7-4

Alaska 6-5

TNT 6-5

NLEX 6-5

Star 5-6

The top two seeds are the same as in the first scenario.

But a complication arises among the bottom seeds with Alaska, Tropang TNT, and NLEX finishing in a tie at 6-5.

PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III said it depends on how many points NLEX beats Alaska, but the current point differential favors Alaska (+8) over TNT (-3) and NLEX (-5).

If that stays, Ginebra will finish third and face TNT, ROS stays at fourth and take on Alaska, while the top seeds face NLEX and Star, respectively.

If Alaska wins and SMB loses:

Meralco 8-3

Alaska 7-4

TNT 7-4

GIN 7-4

SMB 7-4

ROS 7-4

NLEX 5-6

Star 5-6

This is the first of two scenarios that requires a playoff for the second seed.

Meralco stays atop and faces Star, then a five-way tie for second spot arises, with Alaska and TNT having the superior quotient and facing each other for the second seed and the second twice-to-beat edge against NLEX. The playoff loser settles for a best-of-three affair against Rain or Shine, while Ginebra and SMB square off.

If Alaska and SMB lose:

Meralco 8-3

TNT 7-4

Gin 7-4

SMB 7-4

ROS 7-4

NLEX 6-5

Alaska 6-5

Star 5-6

The Bolts remain at No. 1 against the Hotshots, while TNT and Ginebra face will have to face off for the second seed and a meeting against Alaska. The loser faces NLEX in a best-of-three encounter, while the Beermen takes on the Elasto Painters.

because we are ginebra fans we'd like alaska and smb to lose.

Sa ganitong scenario, parang mas gusto ko pang manalo ang Alaska at SMB mamaya. Para ROS ang katapat sa best of three. Lagi kasing kontrapelo pag Alaska ang katapat eh.

May punto ka diyan chief but wouldn't it be nice also to have a twice to beat advantage?

Link to comment

Kontrapelo din tayo sa RoS...lagi tayong talo sa kanila sa playoffs...

Altho medyo nde pa gaano kalakas import nila since nagpalit ulit ng import ang RoS....

Hmn...which is which? Pero tama si junix...it would be nice having that twice to beat advantage...

lahat kasi ng team na nakapasok chief wala kang itatapon. ultimo star pwedeng makasilat. so maganda talaga having that twice to beat advantage. pero wala na sa bgk ang bola. umaasa na lang tayo sa resulta ng mga laro.

Ala na....nanalo alaska....minsan sobrang ballhog si thornton eh...daming mapapasahan sa last two minutes...pero pinipilit nya...hayyy...

So either SMB or RoS makakalaban natin....

Sa ngayon, since nanalo na ang Aces, I'd rather na manalo na ang SMB kesa naman sila pa makatapat natin sa best of three. Between ROS and SMB, i like our chances vs. Guiao's team basta walang dayaan.

Yup...plus papalit palit ng import ngayon ang RoS....ayaw ko lang pagkatapat natin RoS...papabantay kay belga si OJ...para maiinis at mawala na naman sa laro si OJ...just like what abueva did....magkasinlaki pa mandin sina OJ and belga...

Pero i feel makalusot lang sa first round ang ginkings tuloy tuloy na yan...kahit sino pa ang makakalaban...

I concur, malakas ang smb, prolific ang import, pero napuna ko parang hirap si Wilkerson pag madaming malalaki ang kalabang team/s, sa tnt kagabi hirap s'ya dahil andyan ang import tapos me K-Will at Tautuaa pa, para sa akin sana lang masilat sila ng star hehe

Tingin ko 'di inaasahan ni Jeffers na ganun ang magiging ploy ng ros o ni belga sa kanya, hopefully this time around natuto s'ya doon hehe, isang linggo yata nanakit ang likod/balakang ni Jeffers after ng game nila against ros noon
