TYPHOON Karen proved no match to the combined strength of Barangay Ginebra and Meralco.

On Sunday, the PBA Commissioner’s Office decided to push through with Game Five of the best-of-seven finals between the Bolts and Kings despite the stormy weather brought about by the typhoon.

The match proceeds as scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with the best-of-seven title series tied at 2-2.

“Game Five of the 2016 Governors Cup Finals will push through today (Sunday), 6:30 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum,” said league media bureau chief in a text message sent to media outlets.

As early as Friday, the league already notified about the possibility of putting off the game as typhoon Karen was expected to make a landfall by Sunday.

But despite Metro Manila under signal no.2, strong rain and gusty winds had not been felt within the metropolis unlike in the provinces, forcing league officials to make go of the crucial encounter.

The Kings leveled the series following a come-from-behind 88-86 win in Game Four when former league MVP JayJay Helterbrand exploded in the final quarter and willed the Kings back from as much as a 16-point deficit.

A concern for Ginebra coach Tim Cone tonight though, is the health of big man Japeth Aguilar, who sprained his ankle in the second half of Friday night’s game.

Cone said the condition of Aguilar will be a game-time decision for the team.

SEE YOU MAMAYA !!!!
