Barangay Ginebra Kings

Educated ang mga regulars dito. Huwag na lang pansinin. Lets just be decent kasi we all know we are here for Ginebra. Not for his mindset.

Pasensya na chief. Medyo mataas pa ang emosyon at badtrip pa ako at the time na nireplyan ko yan.

You are saying that because Ginebra aint winning. But check his stats and u wud onow Greg is better that Feihl and Marlou Aquino combined. He is a hardworker. Talaga lang alat ang team natin and its not solely his fault

We really need a reliable shooter like a caliber of Terrence Romeo, Carlo Lastimosa, Jeff chan, James Yap, at Marcio Lassiter.

Kahit sa mga international competition, shooters lagi ang nagpapanalo ng laban at hindi puro laki, classic example na lang ang Golden State Warrior.

Mariano and Villamor too. Parehong kilabot na shooter nung UAAP days nila. Salva also has a decent outside shot, pero walang kumpiyansa.

I will blame CTC for getting and stick to a small 6'2 average skilled import instead of getting a prolific import with a maximum height of 6'9. Its either wrong moved or wrong strategy.

For this playoffs, he has been outcoached by yeng guiao.

If CTC continues to get the service of OJ this coming 3rd conference? Expect a grandslam again for ginebra.

Grandslam in boracay!

They're aiming for chemistry. Wala na silang malaking adjustment this 3rd conference unless magkaroon ng trades. Fine tuning na lang.

Jaworski not giving up on Ginebra, but says one thing's lacking in underachieving Kings

Former Ginebra playing-coach Robert Jaworski on present-day Gin Kings: “Sa tingin ko parang hindi sila nagkakaintindihan.” Jerome Ascano

THE father of Barangay Ginebra’s Never-Say-Die legacy is appealing to its legion of fans to just hang on and be a little more patient with its most beloved ballclub following another early playoff exit in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Former Senator Robert Jaworski Sr. understands the predicament of diehard Ginebra followers, who had to wait a little longer as the Kings’ extended their long title drought after being swept in two games by Rain or Shine in their best-of-three quarterfinals series.

The league’s most popular team has not won a championship since the 2008 Fiesta Cup.

But the man who epitomized the franchise’s Never-Say-Die spirit is not about to give up on this same team he steered to its first four championships in the league despite having a rag-tag roster.

“Give them a little more leeway,” said Jaworski. “Bago pa lang naman (yung sistema), so may adjustment pa yun.”

The 70-year-old legend believes the Kings have at their disposal two players who he said could be vital pieces in the team’s quest to end its search for a long-overdue crown.

“Sayang may dalawa tayong malaki dun,” he said, obviously referring to giants Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar. “Ang maganda pa, si Aguilar tumatakbo yan at tsaka may shooting.”

But winning takes a lot more than just pure potential, according to the PBA great. It’s also about learning to play as a team.

“Kailangan dito team tayo. Let team spirit from top to bottom prevail,” he pointed out. “Sa tingin ko parang hindi sila nagkakaintindihan.”

“Lahat sila, they should understand their roles.”

In a statement made shortly after the Kings’ campaign ended, coach Tim Cone apologized to Ginebra fans for failing to live up to the team's NSD (never say die) legacy.

“I still feel in the near future that we’ll make them proud. But until then, we need to keep proving that we deserve the Ginebra fans’ support,” said Cone.

Jaworski doesn’t doubt the Kings will eventually enjoy success under the multi-titled Cone. Of course, that’s provided they play with discipline and embrace their roles in the team.

“Everybody must be given the role and then play within those boundaries,” he said.

The legend has spoken.

The coaching staff should assess if they will still continue to get OJ this coming Gov's cup. Even if he has contract until next conference, kung failed naman ang expectation sa kanya, pwede pa din pauwiin sya.

What i see to Ginebra players now ,, everyone wants to step up every game they are much concern with their stats para hindi mapulaanan ng fans ... not like before talagang gusto nilang maging role player and a support sa mga team mates they only care is to win every game. kahit pa walang score.. and most important . basagan ng mukha. hindi pang showtime.. I'm a proud ginebra fans.. darating din ang time natin.

Sources told SPIN.ph that Globalport is set to acquire sweet-shooting guard Karl Dehesa and rookie Michael DiGregorio from Mahindra in exchange for Paolo Taha and Jonathan Uyloan.

However, sources said Dehesa might not stay long with Batang Pier and may well find his way to Barangay Ginebra, which is in dire need of outside firepower as seen from its failed campaign in the midseason conference.

Rain or Shine import calls Ginebra’s Slaughter ‘soft’

Before he takes on San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo, Pierre Henderson-Niles got his first test against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and its 7-foot center Greg Slaughter in the quarterfinals.

Slaughter has been playing his best basketball under head coach Tim Cone, leading the statistical race for the Best Player of the Conference award through the elimination round. The Gin Kings, too, were on a roll heading into the playoffs until they ran into the Elasto Painters and their menacing import.

Henderson-Niles recalled his matchup with Slaughter and the former Memphis Tiger wasn’t impressed.

“Everybody was talking about that big guy Greg, he was soft,” said the hulking 6-foot-8 center on Saturday shortly after the Painters wrapped up their practice session.

Slaughter averaged 18.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and only 1.5 turnovers per game in the elimination round. His numbers, however, dipped to just 12 points and 7 rebounds while his turnovers doubled in the two games he played against Rain or Shine in the quarterfinals.

The Painters swept the Gin Kings in the best-of-three series.

Less than a week removed from facing Slaughter, Henderson-Niles gets his crack against the most dominant player in the league today in Fajardo in a best-of-five duel starting on Sunday.

“I know I can guard any player in the league,” he said. “Hell yeah [i’m going to cancel out Fajardo].”

“Let’s see what’s going to happen tomorrow (Sunday) at 5 ‘o clock,” he added. “We’re going to see what this battle is all about.”
